but how do you do the simple animation of just making an object disappear?
for example, from frame 0-6, the object is there in the scene. But after frame 6, the object is gone (not just unseen by camera) but completely gone, all tags, gone, "vanished"?
@bongobl You Key frame the object there at frame 0 to the desired frame say frame 30, then make a key frame at frame 30 and then move the object out of the camera's vision. then play. if you don't know how to key frame its the small red button next to the time line that has a key inside. Good Luck.
@bongobl sorry yeah in that post I explained how to make it unseen by the camera sorry another thing you can do is go to the objects "Object" menu and then set the size X,Y,Z to 0 but do a keyframe with it at the desired size then right next to that keyframe keyframe it with zero, and it will seem to instantly vanish.
3ds Max isn't a beginner program, good luck. I love the people who downlaod a 3d app and expect to be godly in a week. Learn a package or better yet GO TO SCHOOL. MDOT thanks for the tut's man keep it up, Any clue if Renderman works with C4d?
Thanks...I can't figure out how to connect or join text to objects especially following curves or text along a bend (eg. text around a sphere or cylinder)...could you do a tutorial on that please? Thanks again!
Fantastic videos. You're an excellent teacher. Now drop everything else and start making some more of them. LOL!
I wish you would show how to build a basic car frame using blueprints. I tried to make an old VW bug - but it ended up looking sort of like a duck that had been hit by a semi.
This is AWESOME!!! I have seen a lot of tutorials and you do a great job of explaining things. This has help me a lot. Do you have a website with these and more tutorials?
I've never used Max...just Maya, Lightwave, Modo and Blender... for my tastes I like C4d... All these apps are great though its just about which one you feel most comfortable in... AND a good artist will make good models no matter that app he/she is using... We tend to focus on the tools too much and forgot the most important element... the person using them.
Thank you so much Mdot, I can't wait to get my hands on this program now. Please make more tuts!!! Or if you can't think of any ideas, I'll e-mail you with questions when I get them after getting the program
this is great! I already tried C4D out, but no one ever explained the basics to me that clearly. Would've saved me a lot of work and frustration about the software not working the way I wanted if I had watched this earlier xD
I have Google Sketchup, and this reminds me of it, but I guess it's kinda like the basics of all 3d programs. But this is really cool. I totally want it haha
What I would really love to see from you is how to make things look cool. Do a tutorial on how to create awesomeness using aftereffects, clipping, lights, rendering or however you do it!
I've heard of Cinema 4D before, it seems pretty nice, but I ignored it because it seemed like it wasn't made for use outside of movies. (Is that true?)
It definitely seems nice, something worth it for me to check out more into.
This has to be the most comprehensive video tutorial covering C4D I have seen so far.

Wow this is so much userfriendly than 3ds.
When i started using 3ds, migrating from blender, i was totally lost.
For example merging is called colapse, and to extrude polys you need to go into a rather hidden "vertex mode".

Cool, I have been using C4D for 6 months now and I have picked up a couple of things that will make using C4D a little easier now... Thanks :)

Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge ☺ You have really helped me get to grips with Cinema 4D. I use to use iClone but felt I was cheating. lol
You have quite a talent for communicating with your audience, as I now can use C4D. Keep up the good work. 5 Stars from me.

Thank you for a few things:
Having audio that we can actually hear without cranking up my speakers at level 10. Or for that matter actually having audio!
Zooming up so we can actually see what you are doing and what buttons you are pressing.
Speaking like a normal person, as opposed to a socially inept computer junky, in contrast to many other youtube retards out there.
Using good compression practices so we get little artifacting so we can actually see what's going on.
