@F41LWhaleXD Yes, you could do power chords if that's the way you want to do it. Watch him at 1:49 and follow with power chords. It's a different way of doing it, but if you like the way that sounds or find it easier, then by all means go for it. BUT....if you have a tough time with the bar chords, this is a GREAT way to PRACTICE and get better! :-)

@edportable He just did a little piece of a scale there at 6:05. Practice your pentatonic scales and you can throw in a little bit on any song if you feel like it and it sounds good to you.

a great song to start getting used to barre chords is Tuesdays Gone. the whole song, in chords, is an A, Emaj, F#m (the barre), and a D. and that barre shape is just 2-4-4-2-2-2. real easy and catchy song to start incorporating the dreaded barre with :D

@jennyomalley Yes, Marty forgot to play the other part. "Looks like nothings gonna change..." Play G-D-C until you get to the part "So I'll guess I'll remain the same". Play an F major at "So" and a D major after the word "remain".

I thank you so much for a simple-assed way to understand using bar chords. I am a trained classical/jazz trombonist, and can play nearly any other instrument put in front of me, but the 6-string-of-death has been kicking my head in for nearly 6 years. I now have it.... not perfect, but definitely much further along.
