This film shows that the Japanese royal family are very much like the royal families of European countrie & the UK. People in general tend to think that the non-European royalty are unfriendly, abnormal and weird but the Japanese Crown Prince and his family come across as normal, civilised people.

年に３ヶ月位は雅子様親子で、ヨーロッパにイスケイプさせてあげ­れば、精神の健康は直ぐ回復する気がするんですが。私の経験を持­ち出すのも気がひけるけど、日本に２ヶ月ぶりに帰ると凄く息苦し­く感じましたから。平均的日本人よりずっと、欧米的な人に、この­ポジションに来てもらったんだから、それ位許されると思う。

Japan and the Netherlands have relationships for about 500 years.

It looks like the Crown Prince's family was visiting the Netherlands. I could not tell if they were there to celebrate a milestone of Queen Beatrix's or just a good will tour.

I assume it must be a good will tour as

Willem-Alexander, the Prince of Orange and his family were visting with them in a relaxed way (no gowns, gloves, etc.).

@florapikachu This tour was organized to ease Masako's mental exhaustion, in other words, an escape from

stress in Japan. If I recall correctly, Queen Beatrix had offerred an evacuation in Netherland in consideration of Masako's mental weakness.
