@23RedPheonix I think you answered your own question here. The Enterprise needed to stay out of the firefight while the other (less but still important) ships remained in the firefight. It was a method of self-defense.
I think that the Americans felt great that the Great Britain shared such technology to them ( radar) and were able to get the advantage of it against the Japanese at the sky and the waters day and night. Also they would have probably hoped that they shouldnt have doubted it from the beggining during Pearl Harbor Assault.
@23RedPheonix They didn't doubt it. The US did had radar which did detect the Japanese airplanes. However, the officer commanding the radar dismiss them as USAAF B-17 scheduled to be station on Hawaii.
Intrepid may have gotten hit but is still alive she is in New York and serves as the centerpiece of the New York branch of the National Air and Space Museum known as the Intrepid Air Museum.
Pretty impressive for a night attack during WWII. I mean, even the British couldn't pinpoint an exact location of a whole German city sometimes, but these Jap bombers found a carrier in the middle of a vast ocean. Did they have FLIR?
1:07 the Avenger radar is a cool tool for the first time planes can see at night and through clouds. they can also track their buddy's and the bad guys when the radar is on the Avenger it becomes an AWACS.
@BigBoyFatso You are right this is good what you have said for the information of other who l love to watch WW2 programs or documentary, many do not know what is the mother unit of the marines, they don,t know that there are many NCO(from E5 back sgt to E9-sgt.major) that have a college-University level of education,no offense to this but he got purpose to the show, that is authenticated information, all what we have seen here are base from the official record of any battle campaign-Individual
@tinamou62 1st Sergeant Willaim Bodette is a Marine. The reason he gets to speak in Battle 360 is he is a highly USMC veteran. His combat experience and service to his country earned him the right to add color commentary in these episodes. Because of men like him, it gives impertinent kids the opportunity to sit at their computers and foolishly question or his right to speak.
I have to disagree. One of the things that make this series so great is the fact that it blends period film and CGI. Old and new and draws lines. He like the Navy fighter pilot connect WWII with the present day. I think they help younger people relate. Plus, he's funny as hell. I bet he's a hoot to be around!
I wonder why those Japanese freighters and tankers were still sitting there at night. Since there was a huge attack earlier in the day, they should have used the cover of darkness to beat it out of there.
1st Sgt Bodette is actually in the Marine Corps, and if you can tell from his ribbons he has a Bronze Star with a combat V and a Purple Heart. So the guy is a legitimate badass! He can be on that show and say whatever the heck he wants to. Haha
@tinamou62 He's a Marine. Marines developed from a branch of the Navy. The Marines and The Navy are really close cousins, especially historically. Also; 1SG (First Sergeant) is Army; "Gunnery Sergeant" (Gunny) is Marine. : )
@tinamou62 : Bodette is a Marine, not Army. Look at the uniform and the Army doesnt have Gunnery Sergeants. Which is a big reason for him commenting along with his historical expertise.
@tinamou62 1st Sargent Willaim Bodette "Gunny" is a Marine Corp Leatherneck, not Army. The reason gets to speak in Battle 360 is he is a decorated Bronze Star USMC veteran. His combat experience and service to his country earned him the right to add color commentary in these episodes. Because of men like him, it gives impertinent kids the opportunity to sit at their computers and foolishly question or his right to speak.
@tinamou62 He is a Marine the ground fighting unit of the Navy, Maines are always onboard or USN, they are aside from navy gunners they are also assigned as Gunners,Marines are under the command of the Navy, there are many Historian of the Maine Unit , don't think that they are just NCO(Non commission Officer from the rank of E5 to Sgt.major many are college-University level and from that they can take Offficership course as candidate to be Officer, West Point and Annapolis graduate exceptional
You know that guy who left his lights on during the night raid got CHEWED OUT when they got back.

iH8Rednecks1 2 months ago
@iH8Rednecks1 The radar is mounted under the fuselage. It shows up on a display to the crew members.

I have a question.
Why did USS Intrepid fired her guns while USS Enterprise didn't, cause i thaught they didn't want their carriers to be seen at night?

@BigBoyFatso why would USS Intrepid be less important than USS Enterprise?
brokennailstudios 6 months ago
@brokennailstudios Important is sort of a wrong word. "More threatening when damaged or lost" is a more proper description.
BigBoyFatso 6 months ago
@BigBoyFatso nah its probably because the japanese already found the intrepid

The delay is only a few seconds. And they're 500lbs bombs. One man can't just pick it up and toss it like you would a hand grenade.
