Uh it's a lotion above everything else it's a lotion think about lotions when do you ever use a body lotion on your face you always use a special lotion on your face, if think any other way then you don't know much about basic skin care at all. Try researching why it makes you break out before complaining. This lotion is not made for your face it's made for your body and your face requires a lot less moisterizer then your body, body lotion contains oil face lotion doen't that's why you broke out

I have used this product and I love it so much it makes me so dark! But I was on vacation and I accidently put it on over sunscreen and slept on it and it rubbed off to my nAtural skin color in random places. It looked so stupid so I tried just washing it all off but now I have random places of kinda tan skin and kinda pale skin. What should I do? I want to keep using this product but I am scared it will do the same thing. And when exactly is the best time to put this on? Heeellpp :)

@smiilexoxo27 Exfoliate the rest off and then start building your tan again. Make sure you are always applying it on clean skin (with the exception of some moisturizer on your elbows, knees, hands, etc.)

@ablondeskaterdude Self-tanners work like this: The tan is a chemical reaction between the DHA and the amino acids in the dead layer on the skin surface (Wikipedia), therefore when the top layer of skin comes off, the colour comes off too, which is why the tan goes away if you exfoliate in the shower. Even without exfoliating, the skin will fall off by itself which is why the tan fades after a couple days.

@seigns The matter of a self-tanning product streaking has little to do with the product itself but a lot to do with an even application on clean, dry, exfoliated skin. With practice you'll get better at achieving a more even self-tan.

@lotlei182 My guess is that Jergens changed their formula at some point, and the new one smells better then the old one, and that the people who say it smells bad had tried the old formula. Im not too sure though, maybe somebody can correct me.

@leahjuliette If you've never worked with a self-tanner lotion go for the light one to begin. That way if it doesn't apply evenly, it won't be too noticeable :). When you get more comfortable with using it and get a bit of sun in the summer then I would suggest you get the medium tone for a bigger difference :)

I've been using this product on and off and I hate how easily it streaks, especially if you apply near the ankles/feet it can make your skin look really dirty

@snowycloud Thats the case for almost any self tanner - the trick is to apply it very sparingly in those areas.

@mzsiixniine I know they have a product "especially" for the face, but I feel like it's just an excuse to make us spend more money. If I'm using jergens, I usually don't tan my face because the colour change isn't so drastic anyways. It's a different story if I'm actually using a tanner though.

@neonpurple24 It's a weaker verson of a self tanner, which is nice because the colour builds up more gradually. When I want some colour I'll put it on about two days in a row, and then just leave it to fade for the rest of the week. You can keep building it up though :)

@neonpurple24 i'm really white too. when i'm out in the sun i'm practically see through. i got the medium tone and put it on and it really does work good. just start off slow. i put it on for 3 days and then stopped for a couple, now i'm just putting it on every few days. as long as you're not constantly globbing it on you'll be okay :)

I am very pale like you, and I enjoy this product. I never seen any orange, nobody has ever told me I'm orange and I asked a lot of people while using this product.

That being said, make sure you let it dry first, watch your knees (which can be a major place for the 'too dark or streaky' look) and make sure to apply it to your feet! I would apply it sparingly but missed parts and had the sides of my feet white haha. You may need help to get it evenly applied to your back as well

@GIeeky Light, for sure. Apply light and then if you want it more, then go to medium later. Just remember that you wont see that much of a difference on yourself since you see yourself every day. Other people will notice the difference in you though. Don't get discouraged if you don't see a big difference in your skin in a few days, ask other people first before going to medium thinking there hasn't been any change.

@bunnylov3r101 . If you're pale for a Latina, you can deffinitely use it. I'm latina and i'm pale as well, and i use the medium/atn skin tones and honestly it gives you the best glow ever! so deffinitely go for it (:

I would say try medium first just to be safe. If you find that it's a pretty subtle difference after using it for a few days go for the next tone darker

it actually did make me look orange..and this doesnt smell good at all. it was really blochy and i even though i put it on my feet, it didnt get all over. so half my foot matched my legs and the other half didnt. it also streaked and made verryy dark spots. it came off after a few days when i didnt use it, so it was all good:)

if you want to try a good self tanner for when you want a darker tan try fake bake mousse. its really good for pale complexions, im paler than you are! leaves you brown not orange ^.^

Hmm well I never really use it everyday, maybe like once a week or I'll just put it on if I'm feeling paler then usual. It actually stains your skin (same as self-tanners) so if you don't purposely exfoliate it off it'll last 2-3 days or so if you dont keep reapplying (keep in mind it won't stay intact)

It's a lotion so you just keep it on. And it hasn't stained my clothes from my experience but I would suggest letting it dry for a few minutes to dry just in case.

Might as well give a try though if you bought it already :P I have the opposite problem as you though hehe, I bought medium because there was no more fair at the store, but its too dark so I mix it with just normal moisturizer to even it out.
