Hankey has no respect for the game the fans or himself. & what do you mean now & days? Darts has always & always will have a noisy background crowd, In a pub, hall, or stage, if you want to play darts you need to learn how to handle the background noise.

Say what you want about the BDO but when it comes to order from the crowd, it's 180 times better than the riff raff that turn up to watch the PDC; most of whom couldn't tell the difference between a dart and a javelin.

It's quite simple. The crowd should just shut the hell up just before the first dart is thrown, and they can yell as much as they want after dart three and the start of the next player throwing.

@SteRDLK Barnie was head and shoulders above everyone in the BDO thats why he left to join the PDC as the competition levels are massively different. Look at the talent of this years PDC World Championships. Some of the first round matches would be a final in the BDO!
@yarnberg 6 of the top 8 in the Order of Merit were originally in the BDO and learned their craft their. If it wasn't for BDO, Colin Lloyd would be the world number 4, Andy Hamilton would be 5th, Alan Tabern would be 7th, and Justin Pipe 8th.

Credit to Hankey, he didn't do anything wrong, I imagine 9 out of 10 people would react in the same way but as it's Hankey, it gets blown up as if he's done something inhumane!
what I dont get with darts is, do you see footballers miss due to the crowd ? just get on with darts and if you were that good you wouldnt be bothered by the noise !
@rob5gt The difference is, these players have to concentrate so hard in an environment so noisy, all of their throws are pre meditated and have to be exact. Soccer players are more used to a loud environment and most of the things in the game are impulsive and in the moment, infact I must say having noise at such events creates an atmosphere that improves play. But with sports like Darts, lawn bowls, golf etc, its simply impossible with distractions.
