If you had your wisdom tooth extracted "yesterday", i.e. the day before the video, then it is highly, highly unlikely that your swelling is due to infection. It most likely just post-operative edema. This is fairly normal. I know this because I am a dentist and I regularly perform third molar extractions.

After 3 weeks it was back to normal! The fat will come back though, thats just how it works, sorry to be so blunt good day Ma'am.
That is SO weird...I don't know when this happend to you, but a while ago I was at McDonalds and there's a Walgreens near it and an ambulance came rushing over there while I was in the drive-threw. And I live in Oregon too. I doubt it was you, but that would be REALLY weird if it was. Lol, that's the only time I'd ever seen an ambulence rushing to Walgreens, so I always wondered what had happend. Hm.

Owch. I need to get mine removed in about 6 or 7 months. I'm only 16 too. I wish I could put it off for a few years so I don't need to think about it XD.

uhg Wisdom teeth suck to get taken out. I got mine out when I was 16 and my face was swollen like crazy. I don't know if your guy told you or not but heat is really good for soarness...or at least that's what my guy told me and it worked. Good luck and I hope you feel better!
I know how you feel I just had 3 of mine pulled. My Vicodin did not do much for me. Then day 2 I got an infection and I had to get antibiotics. I suffered migraines for 2 weeks after as well, so I know how you feel. Hope you heal fast.
If you got an infection in your lower jaw, it can spread down through your neck fascia and reach your chest (thoracic infection which is very serious).
I saw a guy almost die from an infected tooth in our ICU. We had to remove part of one of his lungs. We had all these chest tubes in him for 3-4 weeks.
Even though he was young like you, his survival chance was only at around 27%.
I hope you get better. Being a future dentist, I have to say that one can be pretty rough. One of my best friends is going to be an oral surgeon, and when he had his out, he was out of commission for 3 weeks. I'm sorry it turned out bad. Word of the wise, cookie dough is a lot harder than it looks. ;)
I am sorry that your in so much pain. Percocet is the only thing that really relieves pain for me. Wisdom teeth removed isnt fun...but the pain does go away in a few days. ~Raven

I've had all four wisdom teeth removed before -- in one shot with just Xylocaine as an anesthetic. No swelling, no problems. Quick and easy. It was a walk in the park. I was verrrry fortunate. My jaws are rubber banded to gether so I can't say a word.Must be nice to be able to talk. It will be 2 more weeks untilL I have the rubbers removed.

I was sick in bed for a week! my face swelled up like a chipmunk and in soooooo much pain!
Thankfully swelling all down, and pain gone:)

I really sympathize with you. Had mine remove last year - my face was very swullen too and I stayed home for days feeling sorry for myself... Terrible wisedom teeth!

I had my wisdom teeth pulled but i never looked like that. I gues I was pretty lucky. I also have dental and full health coverage through my employer now and i feel so lucky cuz this will be the first time ill have health coverage since i was 18!

Owch. I need to get mine removed in about 6 or 7 months. I'm only 16 too. I wish I could put it off for a few years so I don't need to think about it XD.

I had all of mine out at the same time and two were impacted. Lucky for me I didn't even take the pain meds. Still, I couldn't eat anything for two weeks. Talk about a nice time to diet. I really slimmed down! Good luck on your recovery.

uhg Wisdom teeth suck to get taken out. I got mine out when I was 16 and my face was swollen like crazy. I don't know if your guy told you or not but heat is really good for soarness...or at least that's what my guy told me and it worked. Good luck and I hope you feel better!

I know how you feel I just had 3 of mine pulled. My Vicodin did not do much for me. Then day 2 I got an infection and I had to get antibiotics. I suffered migraines for 2 weeks after as well, so I know how you feel. Hope you heal fast.

Evidently you are sensitive to narcotics.
just take Tylenol ES.
What did your doctor say about Motrin or naprosyn?
they thin your blood like asprine does but help with the swelling and any fever you might have.
Tylenol only helps with the pain and fever, not the swelling

That swelling isn't normal.
REALLY.
If you got an infection in your lower jaw, it can spread down through your neck fascia and reach your chest (thoracic infection which is very serious).
I saw a guy almost die from an infected tooth in our ICU. We had to remove part of one of his lungs. We had all these chest tubes in him for 3-4 weeks.
Even though he was young like you, his survival chance was only at around 27%.

Get someone to look at your jaw to see if you need antibiotics.
I'm a CCRN certified ICU nurse.
Since i cannot see into your mouth or touch anything to see if it hurts,
GET A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL TO TOUCH THE THINGS AND SEE IF YOU'VE GOT A SERIOUS INFECTION.

it's fairly common. I had it on both sides, and it just faded away. It wasn't even due to an infection for me.
Oh, and mediastinitis is pretty freaking rare.

Thought you might want to know, Maxillofacial surgery is usually facial and bone replacement for cancer treatment to the face and mouth.
One of the best home remedies for pain is cold compress,, 15 minutes on,, 15 off. It should help some. Good luck.

I hope you get better. Being a future dentist, I have to say that one can be pretty rough. One of my best friends is going to be an oral surgeon, and when he had his out, he was out of commission for 3 weeks. I'm sorry it turned out bad. Word of the wise, cookie dough is a lot harder than it looks. ;)

I am sorry that your in so much pain. Percocet is the only thing that really relieves pain for me. Wisdom teeth removed isnt fun...but the pain does go away in a few days. ~Raven

Percocets are more powerful than vicodyns. however, they make you puke more if ur sensitive to narcotics.
Evidently Faintstarlight is sensitive to narcotics.
just take Tylenol ES.

people who east traditional foods without refined grains or processing never need this surgery and never get cavities, even when they never floss or brush. eating modern processed foods causes the jaw to grow shorter and infections in teeth. i recommend the book that shows proof of this. the most shocking book i have ever read.

I've never had trouble with my wisdom teeth. Actually, I only have 1 wisdom tooth. The other 3 never grew (I'm your age).

I've had all four wisdom teeth removed before -- in one shot with just Xylocaine as an anesthetic. No swelling, no problems. Quick and easy. It was a walk in the park. I was verrrry fortunate. It doesn't look like you were so lucky. Sorry to hear you had problems with this -- and I hope you feel better and get well soon Esther...

Omg. I remember having weird pains spring up when I thought I was fine. I had 5 wisdom teeth!!! I got 1 removed then the other 4 a while later.

Ouch!!! I can only imagine the pain you are it... My cheek was half that size at the start of the week due to a serious tooth infection at the pain was intense. It looks like you went through a lot more! Take Care
