Prefer ITVs music. Brass, drums, and music in a minor key makes the news appear more serious and more weighty. BBC's music seems to make the news come across as more trivial. However, in terms of content and coverage, BBC wins hands down.

ITV seem to have lost their way and this is visable from the latest attempt at a revamp in Dec '09!

BBC seem to know what they are doing when it comes to broadcasting the news and local news at that!

Erm... out of the three main news programmes on ITV (at 1:30, 6:30 and 10:00), only one of those has a break - the news at 6:30.

If you want "full news", watch at lunchtime or at ten!

The current news at ten theme sounds more like something out of Disney;I prefer the menacing seriousness and authoritarian tone and stance of the original Awakening theme from 20th century portrait composed by Johnny Pearson,that was the best version ever, not the freshened up comedy trash that currently fills the screen. Also I like the dramatic middle eight on the end that leads to the conclusion

I agree with charlie73374669 - the BBC has a good reputation in regards to news broadcasting but ITV's got the theme tune bang on!

The ITV theme is my favourite, simply because they used an orchestra, unlike the BBC going for total electronic and big beat, which is dull.

The american ones use orchestras, and they are composed by the worlds leading film composers like, John Williams and James Horner. Fantastic!

The 1999 BBC News music is unbeatable - it's more understated than the current 2008 package, which I can't listen to without thinking of Bill Bailey (LOL). The orchestral ITN/ITV News themes are pretty much brilliant too - I don't really like the themes currently used on other bulletins, but the current music used for News at Ten is much better.

So... I guess I'm stuck in between both themes in this video!

ITV got crap in 2006. It was all good on ITV News, until they abolished the ITV News Channel. BBC News though, even if they have got very professional presentation, BBC News Channel can get very boring after watching only a minute. At the moment, I don't really like any of them. Sky News at the moment is better than these 2.

Ask me that question ten years ago and i would have said ITV for news at Ten and professional presenters less stale than bbc was then. But today bbc news has to win hands down im afriad too much cost cutting and dumbing down now at itv should never have changed it from itn news and should have left the regions calone and not tried to copy the bbc format the news at ten is not a patch on the old one sorry trevor and co but it used to be much better. sad days at itv now once a great channel!

Hands down BBC! News at ten gets 1.5m less views than BBC so Tevor McDonald can stick that where the sun dont shine! For news coverage, world or local, sport and of course weather, the BBC beats ITV in every deptment and always will do.

No doubt about it - BBC is the best by far. I think I've probably watched ITV news about 2 or 3 times in my entire life! And don't get me started on Sky News - cheap, cheesy, tabloidese, biased and totally unprofessional! If you think Sky news is good you're most likely a Sun or Daily Star Reader! And as for Five News...last night their bulletin lead on Heather Mills and Paul McCartney...are you telling me there aren't slightly more pressing matters in the world today?

when it comes to actual news foreign BBC output like the World Service and BBC World is vastly superior to anything at all period (except possibly The [U.S. ed] Wall Street Journal, prior to its takeover by Murdoch.)

ITV has vastly superior presentation, BBC presenters are stiff and staid, the directing and graphics are extremely odious. ITV's presenters are generally speaking living persons although the studio and that walking around thing are bad. Oh and the News at 10 has creepy psycho music

I love the ITV News theme tune but there is a different one now and I don't like it. ITV (as seen in the video) were good at presenting the news but now I think the BBC are better at presentation. I like the BBC News theme as it is modern but the ITV news theme is more professional and grabs your attention. Crap now though :(

I hate the current BBC Theme, Its drums, Pips, boring and uneventful.  ITV News theme is dramatic, happening - and gets you sitting down to watch the news.
