This was one of the first animes I ever watched, at age 6. My parents are the ones who got me into it. Its one of the animes that sculpted me into the insane otaku I am today! Now I'm 14, and I have no idea what my life would be like if I didn't love anime. maybe i would have been one of those giggling justin bieber fangirls.... *shivers

@stephicool XD yeah, now that I think about it, i have no idea why. there was an anime store at the mall where we used to go (they tore it down). O_o we bought fruits basket, this, chobits (my mom liked it) and a whole lot more. nowdays, whenever I watch anime, my parents are like, "watcha watchin?" and I say "....fullmetal alchemist..." and they're like "oh, cool." about a month ago my dad was like " hey, look at this cool anime opening i found!" O_o lol, my family is wierd.

This show was shit in my opinion. The drawing style changes all the time, and theres too much shitty comedy. I've been looking for serious romance anime, this was a let down.

If only they had finished this series the way it deserved to be finished, by which I mean at least twice it's eventual episode count, steady improvement in animation and artwork, and consistent writing throughout, this would've indisputably been the greatest shoujo anime of them all.

Anno seriously deserved a special award of some kind for trying and succeeding in creating a damn good romance comedy. It's a shame Masami Tsuda didn't agree with his vision, but I think he had the right mind-set. I guess she just didn't like his set pieces

Its a shame Anno quit Gainax during this, FLCL, Abenobashi, Diebuster and Tenga Toppa were fun but that was about it. I think the similar soundtrack that got passed around this, Evangelion and Nadia would make any anime much better.

Aw come on, FLCL deserves a little more credit than that. It's definitely one of the best OVA's ever. But you're right for the most part. Gainax has become pretty marginal since then.

Hideaki Anno is a freaking genius. Four years ago, my two least favorite anime genres were Mecha and Romance. Since then, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Kare Kano have become two of my favorite series. It takes special talent to change someone's mind about just one genre, let alone two.

I really wished they animated more of the original story since it gets darker. Of course, the creator and Anno I think got into a disagreement which is why we didn't get a second season.

@darkspawn1270 not really. Masami Tsuda is not happy with what Gainax did. the anime didn't have another season cuz Gainax focused more on the comedy part and not really on the romance side.
