'And of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the diversity of your languages and your colors. Indeed in that are signs for those of knowledge'
About the Arab orientated bit the gentleman mentioned at the end, ISLAM DID not SUPPRESS the blacks neither it took their rights from them. And i am talking here about the real Islam, the real deal in the house, the days of Prophet Mohammed Peace be upon him and days of 'BILAAL IBNO RIBAH'. One of the prophet's most beloved men. An Ethiopian black man who is considered a symbolic example onto the face of racism in HUMANITY.
@bamaceo59 By understanding another's point of view I understand my own more clearly. If I do not share my understanding of the situation I cannot have a conversation. In this mode I am a philosopher. A black and white conceptual model of the universe is unequipped to understand the complexities of many situtations let alone the issue of race in America and abroad. What do you think Malcolm did when he went on tv and did debates? He explained his point of view and tried to refute others.
Are you saying that that individual I was responding to was lulling me to sleep? Or are you using my conversation as a platform to speak more broadly? I am a philosopher and seek to understand. Did you read my passage and consider my words carefully? Speaking about what you don't understand is sleepwalking, and dangerous. What denotes in my passage that someone is lulling me to sleep?
@taomonk10 Agreed...now...do you agree that white people, as a cultural block, have committed great crimes and atrocities against people of color, people of non-white culture, all across the world with colonialism and more specifically the African slave trade? Embedded in white culture is the idea of its supremacy, the idea of "white" beauty as supreme, "white" intellect as supreme, "white" culture as civilized while other cultures as barbaric. Whiteness is socially constructed yet not illusory
Great Man - A real legend. He put his life on the line for the sake of his peoples freedom and Human rights. The influence Islam played in the struggle for freedom 1400 years ago and in the modern era is paramount and is what its all about - Peace and Justice for all mankind. Possibly the main reason they had to pull to the plug is because he was a great speaker and was a muslim. A shame as we lost the only real leader of the 21st century that truly stood for something great and Inspiring. RIP
Few especially in the black church will admit, that the Nation, has done more for blackpride and self reliance than they ever did.....Isnt it interesting, how TD Jakes and all these new age preachers all talk about financial awareness. When the Nation talked about that kinda stuff, they were denounced.
that is a great point you are making, the radical nature of the NOI gave a a level of relevance and influence above black christians- the tried to get in the house while malcom said build your own. but nobody builds their own house, there is no private language so what he did was really just stretch everyone's and busted into the whitemans house or discourse.
@mimus22gundlachii The doctrine of self reliance, via afro-centered spirituality and economic empowerment, was accepted years before. By the follower's of Marcus Garvey, Noble Drew Ali, Denmark Vesey and Nat Turner. Yet at every turn, so called leader's of the black church, have benefited from undermining revolutionary idea's, less those idea's bring finances into the church.
