I just remember hearing that back in 1978, suddenly sitting up and yelling, "Hey, that's my Stevie singing in there!!!" LOL. Very pretty song, timeless.
@chargalant That's interesting, never knew that before. Searched and found an article about her talking about him and the song. She nicknamed him "Slave-driver Loggins" but said he was a good producer.
this duet between Kenny Loggins and Stevie Nicks sounds pretty good, but I think Stevie sounds better when she's done vocal harmonies with Lindsey Buckingham; I don't understand why, they both have about the same vocal style, maybe Lindsey has some musical magic over Stevie.
yes Mr.Loggins just got done playin right here in ashland,KY!!! like an hour ago..though I was working I came home and heard the tailend of I'm Alright!!COOL!! great song thanx for posting!
@AdobeGillis I never really "listened" to the song before. Thanks for puting it together with the lyrics. The song has a way more special place in my heart. Thanks.
I have to agree that there are elements of this song that just don't seem to fit. I'm not a fan of the fake choir sound at the beginning. As the song progresses I think it gets better and seems to be more consistent. I also agree the key change is awkward, but I've never been a fan of sudden key changes like that. However, the lyrics, even if they are sappy, are still a step above the millions of songs w/ lyrics that are just plain bad. Check out the Allison Krauss/Michael Johnson version.
Fall 1978 - I was 13, kissed my first boyfriend...great memories. Only problem was...I had a hell of a time understanding 3/4 of the lyrics, especially Stevie Nicks!! To this day, when I sing this song I have to glaze/murmur over certain words that I can't get!!! LOL!!! Great memories!
Truly one of the most awful AM radio hits ever. It's starts out as a standard pseudo-ballad, creeps up through an awkward key change and morphs into a lame disco number with lyrics dripping with so much syrup that even listening to this song could turn one into a diabetic. What were Loggins and Nicks thinking when they recorded this? The agents had to be waving wads of bills around to keep them excited.
@stoogemaniac ...I wouldn't go that far and there is nothing disco about the song whatsoever-no searing orchestration, thudding, thumping bass line or anything. It was released in 1978, that's about all it has in common with disco.
It's kind of a bad song I agree but there is much, much worse. When I think sappy I think The Carpenters or "I've Never Been to Me"...shit like that. Indeed there is a lot worse.
@stoogemaniac ...and how could I forget Loggins' own artistically wretched career mid 80s especially those terrible soundtrack songs. Although they were most uptempo they were so horrid it makes this sound brilliant.
I think he got worse with age. Maybe this was the beginning of the decline. Not that there was too much genuine glory in his career to begin with (although he did have a hand in writing "What a Fool Believes").

This song ALWAYS makes me remember summer 2010 when i met my beautiful fiance. I love him so much. I dedicate this song to him, no matter what happens i will always be his soulmate and his best friend. Thanks for the memories. I love it :")
This is what is missing from today's music -- brilliant harmonies, memorable bridges, and professional muscianship. Somewhere along the line the music stopped being interesting. And no, it ain't justin beiber's fault.
GREAT SONG! <3

Stevie was younger and so was her voice....great match for Kenny. But she did claim that he was the most difficult guy to work with.
