This is actually a song about being worried about a childhood friendship turning into a crush in later years (or so I gather from the translation). So cute!

Puffy songs bring back such memories! I fell in LOVE with Planet Tokyo after watching it on CN!

I'm assuming more to fit the English-speaking market (which, also, is younger people). If they're a pop group, the listeners want something catchy and upbeat, especially if they're younger.
