Im hearing his words, but why am I not seeing his policies take place. Yes, it will take time to see the full results, but there are immediate changes that do take place, such as other nations' heads announcing to their own countrymen the change they desire to bring. We see none of this around us, why? Because the media chooses what we see, and we are in effect blind to the hollow promises that are not being upheld. It takes human ressources, logistics and planning to get out of Iraq and this cannot be done over night. he said he will pull them out, judge him after four years. it is for a reason we have that 4 year period after all, and parties are supposed to implement their policies not in the first year but spread them over that period and then be judged on the result. .

Seen thru the perspective of Dreams From My Father, I think this speech shows Obama's efforts to synthesize the best aspects of his mother's idealism & his step-father's pragmatism. He came to perceive the former as too naive & the latter as too cynical.
