  • jj abrams is a molester ! look it up. dont support him !

  • Is that James Randi at 17:54 ?

  • I really want to know what's in that box!! Lol.

  • Legend

  • Please

    Save

    Roger

    McDonald!

  • PLEASE

    JESUS

    SAVE

    JJ

    ABRAMS!

  • tom's nose is special

  • J.J. Abrams is the BEST director of our time.

  • This guy is so brilliant.

  • He talks like he's throwing his words up. And everytime he smack's his teeth I want to curse God and die.

  • This is great but I hate the way he talks so much! It feels like a kitten clawing on the inside of my ear. I'm literally suffering through this video because I want to hear what he has to say.

  • Omne ignotum pro magnifico

  • WOW!

  • I bet the box is empty

  • I love the way he thinks.

  • This explains super 8

  • this explains castaway and why tom hanks did not open the box :)

  • What a legend. This guy is amazing.

  • Apple sucks

  • I agree. Super 8 is film like they no longer make, all they had to do was put the minds of two of the greatest writers In history together.

  • take 2 would be a b**ch! ha

  • la caja misteriosa de J.J. Abrams... gracias por ese regalo.

  • /watch?v=zWURvAuH0eM really cute dog :)

  • would this mystery box by any chance happen to have a dick in it?

  • JJ, I will forever love you for creating Jack Shephard.

  • F__in' GENIUS!

  • He turned a good idea into sh!t when he mingled all that religious crap into it.

That glass window with all those religious symbols. bleh.

  • @MithranArkanere Religious symbols don't always symbolize religion. They can represent hope, sanctity, community, or as I chose to interpret it, fear of the unknown.

  • @MithranArkanere Someone with a pentagram as a picture saying bleh at religious symbols lol

  • @heinygore2 It's not a "pentagram" it's a family crest called "Arkane Seal". The Arkanere family crest. The part that looks like a pentagram is just a symbol of 'protection against evil', not a religious symbol.

  • So we're not going to hear about polypeptides?

  • an amazing speaker!

  • One day i hope i can be fortunate enough to work on his crew, even if i'm just the trash guy :)

  • @newm123 you dont wanna work for JJ you want to be his competition. someone who inspires him to be better. should you be fortunate enough

  • super 8 is the best 2 hours of film i've seen in 10 years.

  • @shitIMGOINGPOSTAL really, super 8 was the best movie you've all seen? Its fucking terrible. I can list off a dozen other movies that are so much better.

  • @lobelia2 and you sound like a dumbass

  • The scene at the restaurant in super8 seems like an homage to the jaws dinner scene

  • @Artist10486 probably is.

  • The scene at the restaurant in super8 seems like an homage to the jaws dinner scene

  • Super 8 is super awesome

  • @ThorFan4Life super 8 is basically the e-t story only from a different point of view

  • Good video.

  • JJ is smart.

  • The mystery box is great.

  • he teased Super 8 by ET

  • Haaaaaaaaave you met Ted?

  • @blajsad uh, seriously? Have you seen the Motion Picture, the first one? I think you mean the man who made Star Trek cool again...

  • @jlennon510

Star Trek isnt about just tektalk is so much more it's more like a utopia of a perfect society where all mankind stands united for the great outdoors of universe. But perhaps the part two of the reboot will be better than the previous one.

  • This is was great thanx!

  • Major SBerg ass kissing.

  • hey its James Randi!

  • One of my favourite Tedtalks, love it. So memorable.

  • 46 people learned to play piano when they were 6 years old :P

  • Pure genius

  • A A A AM AM a a A AM aa AM aM aa AA Am...

  • Nah it's more like he was pulling the stuff out of his ass while the money was rolling in.

  • jj abrams never shows his monsters take cloverfeild and super 8

  • @1headphoneguy You see the monster in Cloverfield. It's incredibly brief but you do see it. And as for Super 8, we don't even know what that's about yet so obviously we have not seen the monster . . . yet. :)

  • NOTE: he got me s SUPER 8 camera when i was 9 years old..

    Hmmmm SUPER 8

  • I met JJ today because he's filming a movie in my area. Tell you what, he's one of the friendliest and nicest peoplpe I've met. Treated every actor with respect and even took the time (even though he was busy) to take pictures with anyone who asked. :)

  • lol, this is funny

and ironically, even though i don't agree with his lifestyle "life is better with mystery boxes"(i think it's best to know as much as possible) i still do respect him a lot for his way of thinking

  • Polypeptides :D lets make proteins!

  • THIS GUY IS AMAZING.

  • TED Talks have laugh tracks?

  • @funkydoran what does ftw stand for?

  • @drgigglesdoescocaine lol it means "For The Win"

  • i didnt get much of it, but this guy is awsome. i just want to throw somethoing out there, have you seen that in tom cruises scene where the car explodes and then he is thrown against another car and then the plane flies by... the exposion takes place BEHIND tom cruise yet he is pushed sideways...

  • I think he's the next big director

  • @vanityvideo He already is.

  • behind the sceen of MI3 awesome!

  • he said he got a super 8 camera, and thats the name of his upcoming movie, so maybe the title has no meaning?

  • Damn i need to know what's in that box O.o

  • he is a small man but with a big vision

  • This man is one of my heroes.

  • LOL, I used that arm trick a few days ago. wwo, I feel so special now. :P

  • I bet theres a dead guinie pig in there, and theres a card that says happy birthday J.J. (and the letter is from 2007)

  • @joemanYT Correction: the letter is from 2017, get your facts straight.

  • @ZachPankratz It's warning him about the future

  • @joemanYT Maybe its a video tape of him from 4815 warning present him that he is going to be murdered in 1623 on his 42 birthday (which will stop present him from existing)

  • @ZachPankratz probably

  • I WANNA KNOW MORE ABOUT SUPER 8!

  • Comment removed

  • baw, that's my uncle. :D

  • expel the evil jews

they shd pay reparations for their horrible ww2 activitites

  • he is my favorite jew!

  • 0:25 OMFG old people!!!!!!!!

  • @Haden5216

he's a heeb. Like all heebs shd be tied to a post and whipped then deported on a leaky fishing trawler

  • I don't even care what anyone else has to say about him, I love this man. I never really watched LOST, but I certainly love the rest of his works. (Fringe is one of my all-time favorite shows!) I'm definitely excited to see that he might work with Joss Whedon soon. Can you think of a better team? I'm really looking forward to seeing what he might do in the future, especially with the next Star Trek movie in 2012.

  • @CaptainPirateNinja

    dude, watch lost. its awesome.

  • @CaptainPirateNinja lost is the greatest show ever, you should watch it

  • Phenomenal presentation.

  • jj abrams didnt even write any of lost did he?

  • JJ ABRAMS + CHRISTOPHER NOLAN = OVERLOAD OF AWESOMENESS, perhaps one day...

  • This was a good presentation. I liked how he put everything together and explained his message of the mystery box! Use your imagination and you can do anything!

  • 0:21 I dont get the joke o,o

  • 2:43 he got me a "SUPER 8"camera !!!!

  • @lado666 i caught that too!!!

  • Dude!

He picked my favourite scene from jaws the one with brody and his kid…

    I’m not alone...

  • He does so much mystery because he has no answers. LOST ended with NO answers. Cloverfield ended with NO answers. And Im sure Super 8 will have NO ending either...

  • @kellykeith28 Sometimes the answers ruins the story. I loved Cloverfield for the fact they never explain it. I think if they tried to come up with an explanation, most likely for a portion of viewers they would not think it was good enough and would think it was a lame ending whereas just enough of a lack of explanation leaves so much possibility.

  • @kellykeith28 He didn't have as much influence in Lost as everyone gave him credit for after the beginning. He helped create it but he didn't write every single friggin episode. Just because his name is attached to it doesn't mean he's the one that made it tank.

  • This is exactly part of what i'm interested in making films. He's one of my favourite filmmakers for these reasons, I just love hearing what inspired the people who inspire me as its inspiring in turn. love the mystery box as a metaphor.

  • Mystery eh... so you made Lost up as you went along eh...

  • worst TED talk ever.

  • JJ is the new Spielberg, he even sounds like a young Spielberg :)

  • did JJ do a line before he got on stage he talks fast as fuck.

  • @blackpearl844 You have no life!!

  • @chriswillb

i dont care u and yr stupid comments . because u dont know me and u dont know anythıng why i say .

u can go to hell with him .

  • @blackpearl844 At least i have the ability to make sense"and u dont know anythıng why i say " WTF does that mean?! and can spell properly....

  • @chriswillb

    don think : )

  • Damn it! I really want to open that mystery box!

  • There's something very Spielberg-ish about him... fantastic guy, though. This is the first time I've really seen him talk. This is great!

  • Makes me excited for Super 8

  • Just check my page, I have ALL the SUPER 8 hidden images collected, I even put the words together for you to read hidden message for yourself : )

  • I like how he said that now if you want to go out and make your movie go out and make it. I make movies and obviously I don't have their resources but I get that opportunity to make those movies.

  • I heard there is a clue about the cloverfield prequel in this ??

  • @xXsf49ersXx How on earth would it? This video is two years old.

  • @jussts well people were saying that he talks about older movies and this upcoming movie by him is a tribute to those movies

  • have you guys not seen it ? its huge !

    haha :D

  • Genius.

  • He should have just told Tom to man the fuck up.

  • He's such a jewish sterotype, not that its a bad thing or anything just saying

  • LOST is great JJ, I'm like the biggest fan, but Mission Impossible 3, no offence, was crap.

  • i think there`s a relation between his fascination for mysteries that are never solved and the lost serie.

i mean the mysteries in the serie will remain unsolved

  • no shit you idiot

  • Um, the mysteries in Lost ARE being solved right now.

  • @AreaJerm

    fail.

  • He's such a nerd :-D I love it!

  • Strange choice of computer manufacturer for a person who likes to open up stuff to see how they work.

  • But a good choice for a professional writer who wants to be able to start up his computer any time and the thing is actually working and will let him write...

  • Great observation!! I didn't realise that, I kept looking for a way of making fun of him for using Macs :D

  • In the end, the box isn't empty. It's full, very full. MASSIVELY full. GIGANTICALLY, MOUNTAINOUSLY, full. Just wait untill you see what spills out of it! Character development is great, but you need an equally powerful nemesis. Alien would not be alien if they showed the alien any less. Godzilla would have never taken off if we didn't see him smash a building or melt a tank or two. The monster is the main character in the above movies because it was all about the monsters, always.

  • and what about the real magic box on Lost, the one which brings you anything you want????

  • he makes me so happy

  • Para hacer tiempo hasta esta noche....

  • At the end you can see James Randi! Did he ever to a TED talk?

    O.

  • Don't hurt Tom's nose.

    Lol

  • JJ is the shit!!

  • The magic box symbol he bought looks like the symbol at the "The Swan Station"

  • he mentioned Infini-D! I remember that app, loved it.

  • The use of a mystery box creates an unspoken contact between viewer and writer. It states: You have captured my imagination with the unknown contents of the mystery box. I will happy go along with you on a quest to discover the contents of the mystery box. But in the end you must eventually reveal the contents of the box.

The ultimate betrayal of the Mystery Box Contract is to take the viewer on a massive quest, only to reveal that the box is empty.

  • He is great! I follow his career since Felicity!
