  • Ok a lot of these lopes are extremely ugly! Its a shame what western pleasure has been turned into...

But I like that the jogs are more forward and that they aren't all faking it.

  • Ok a lot of these lopes are extremely ugly! Its a shame what western pleasure has been turned into...

  • It's nice to see a pleasure class where the horses are actually moving.

  • I love western pleasure ive been working with my 24 yr old QH Zans Mr. Flit but he was an AQHA world champion penner and team penner in his day so he doesnt know the meaning of jog/lope if it killed him right now we are slowly getting there his jog is faster but wicked comfy and you can really ride his lope which is also a little bit on the faster side but still really comfy its good enough for local shows still working on keeping his head level

  • i ride plesure and i'm competing often but if kinda lookes like the horses are limping instead ofactually cantering, in the canter ,

  • @thecowgirlandherhors Hahahaha I totally agree!

  • I like how your horse actually passes other horses, it goes to show that the slowest horse isn't always the winner in western pleasure classes.

  • i bet you this horse was moving just like that out in the pasture when he was a baby. it's definitely natural for these horses. and i think you need to look again, because that's a three-beat lope. absolutely beautiful.

  • If you ever watch these horses as babys the naturally move like that its kind of cool.

  • For all of you who are complaining about how they move get over it! this horse has naturally loped like this sense she could walk. no training her

  • Ryan is one of the best guys youll ever meet.

  • these horses r beautiful and i show western pleasure but they look horrible doing a 4 beat lope!! i srry but my horse dose not 4 beat lope he extends but still goes that slow andwe have taken 1st at alomost every show

  • lol i kept saying ' oh this horse reminds me of my horse' and then at the end said the breeding and my horse and this horse are related.

  • I love how he doesn't "bob" his head as much as the others. This tells me he has a more natural canter like this. Great run!!! :)

  • Look you people don't need to be talking bout the pleasure horse industry. These horses are specially bred and trained to do this and most of them enjoy it.also its not bout how they are bred its movement. You people who dis this need to get a life and worry bout something more important than telling people what is wrong with their horses. Ps you had a really pretty ride is the horse for sale

  • My horse placed third at congress in hunter under saddle and he loves his job. Taking a contesting horse, and making it do western pleasure or and kind of pleasure would be unnatural. So stop talking unless you know what you are talking about. Thanks.

  • julegad:

Correction, they are bred to do this. You think it is natural to have horses cutting and barrel racing? For contesting, you push your horse as fast as it can go and make it make really sharp turns. Sounds really natural to me. True Western pleausre horses love their job, same as Hunter under Saddle horse.

  • I saw you got a new horse in one of the AQHA magazines. I this one for sale? I guess you would want a lot for it anyway if you did

  • I love western pleasure. I love the saddle. I loveeeee the horse. And the guy looks like a cutie :D

  • Great job. You guys look really good together. Keep up the good work.

An for the people that say they are not meant to go slow. They are. I had a 2yr. gelding an that is all he wanted to do was go slow.

  • I like WP, but the Quarter Horse & Paint Horse was originally bred to be a stockier horse when it was bred between a thoroughbred and a Spanish horse. now there's too much thoroughbred look about them. the conformation of a WP quarter horse is completely diffterent from a cutting QH. and yet they're the same breed but don't look the same at all. :(

  • beautiful session. What a great job!! Congrats!! xo

  • Hey people it's called western pleasure, it's slow & natural, and they are bred to do this. If you dont like it dont watch it!

  • Quarter horses aren't bred to do this...they are trained to do this...there's a difference. They're bred for cutting and reining, and running fast at short distances. This is completely unnatural and contrived.

  • @julegad They are too bred to do this. Have you heard of the stallion, One Hot Krymsum, or Zippo Pine Bar? Those are some nice western pleasure bred stallions, who are breed to Western pleasure mares, that have a nice young baby that has western pleasure in it's bloodlines, therefore most are bred to do this. There are other things quarters are bred for cutting, reining, barrels, english, and such, but these are bred for western pleasure, So therefore It's only natural for them.

  • Its not "unnatural" I should know I own a Western Pleasure mare, she is trained to perform like a western pleasure horse in an arena but she doesnt just hang her head, she has alot of life about her and she doesnt do this out in the pasture only when I'm riding her/ training her for a show, its not inhumane as she tries her heart out for my and LOVES her job!!

  • @julegad These quarter horses are. Look at their bodies. They have long legs, slender necks and stomachs, they are not stocky because the western pleasure and hus horses have thoroughbred in them for the purpose of them being bred to do this. Just like some quarter horses are bred for cutting and reining, now some of them are being bred for pleasure riding.
