yes it does. No matter what number you choose the result is 1089.

For 486:

flip the digits and subtract: 684 - 486 = 198 (you must always take the smaller number from the larger).

flip the digits and add: 198 + 891 = 1089.

Take any 3 digit number, let's say 502. Put it backwards (502 would become 205) and subtract them. Then put the result backwards too, and add them. The result is always 1089.

Before you start the trick, take any book and go to page 10, 8th line, 9th word and write it as your prediction.
