Edelbrocks work great for blow through. Folks who say they can't be tuned as good as a Holley have no clue. The first AFB carbs (Carters) were used in the early 60's in a blow through application on the R2 Studebaker Avantis. They were centrifugally supercharged. They worked great, although nowhere near the power of a turbo system.
If you know your way around Edelbrock/AFB carbs they can work just as good or better than Holley's, and they hold their tune forever, and don't leak fuel.
I having camera problems at the moment I will post my videos in the next week or so I'm not giving people a hard time I'm just telling the facts afb carbs suck I apologize for misunderstanding your comment keep watching I will show you my car
@adamryanclark Yea good thing i have efi right? God before you go and argue with me on my videos and call me a pussy read my comment over to yourself a couple times then youl relize that i fact i don't have a 434 whatever engine. Stop being stupid on Youtube and clearly your giving everyone else on here a bad time. And i looked at your channel. Where is this so called motor and car?
I would have blocked that adamryanclark guy a long time ago haha "I have one that has been on the same 434ci small block with a 88mm turbo for 4 years running 19psi of boost" He forgot to say how small his dick was lol
oooops....you forgot to remove and trash those stinking little screen filters Edelbrock hid underneath the rubber tipped needle valve housings. Big mistake! you'll pay later!
How low is low? I plan on turboing a 305 sbc and i just rebuilt the carb (which is a edelbrock 600cfm). Im researching what it takes to turbo the engine and i plan on using my edelbrock... I want to get 350-400 fwhp... Im thinking that 8-10 psi will work but will the carb need the brass floats replaced?
@77turbonova I hope you relize I'm not hatn on your build I just want you to relize my point you have a beutifull car with plenty of potential don't waste time putting money and effort into a part that will hold you cars potential back or at worst cost you more money.
@turbocamero1986 I'm not downing him on his build but I have had several blow threw setups and know what works and what doesn't I'm not saying I know everything because I don't but what I do know is he will never see the full potential of his car with what he is running for fuel delivery its a proven fact or edelbrock would be building blow threw afb's so why don't you blow me bitch.
And yes everyone is out to make 1000hp street car because why else would you put twin turbos on your car sure as hell isn't for looks its your way of seeking the most horse power your motor can produce and sure it does look cool as hell its just a shame yours will never meet its full potential because of that garbage ass edelbrock AFB.
I guess you have exzausted your self trying to convince me that the edelbrock afb is working on a blow threw setup so I guess when your ready to make real horse power that is safe you'll listen to me good luck with the garbage.
And by the way a grand is way cheaper than 5 grand when you blow a throttle shaft screw off and it drops a throttle blade and chews a piston and valve up send to me a grand is cheap insurance.
All I'm saying is no matter what the afb is unreliable and not made for a blow threw setup there is no fuel enrichment for when the car comes under boost also its internal parts wise of boosters and throttle blades and screws are not made for any kind off boost what so ever so even if you say your getting mid 11 air fuels I'm sure the car is pig rich at idle eather way i guess you are one of the guys that are hard headed and don't take criticizing advice.
Sure a new c and s is a grand but well worth it when you think about how useless and unreliable the edelbrock afb is but for the time and money you got tied up in that junk ass edelbrock afb you could have bought a used c and s and went threw it and freshened it up.
Also if you can't hear the sluggishness of your motor in your other videos you have then you know nothing about turbo blow threw setups and I would put a grand and my carb up saying that car don't make 500hp.
@adamryanclark again- first day i got it running with the new set up and didnt have timing set or carb tuned at all- not everyone has a grand to drop on a c&s carb
So you have proved that you made a shittier afb even more shittier but you got lucky and made it work on a blow threw setup still in one of your other videos you can plainly hear the car pop and crack but congratulations you made your point now buy something that its reliable and lets see what the car can really do.
@adamryanclark dude go blow your daddy !!! stop hating on his build. if you want to learn some real info go to theturboforums its a great site full of info. just dont be a douche theyll ban your ass. it works for him, hes thinking out of the box, people do not learn anything without trial and error go ask steve morris how long it took him to figure it out. stop bieing debbie downer and go blow your daddy now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! fuck
One note just watch steve morris video on c and s blow threw carb tuneing video on youtube and get back to me after you watch it he is the best in the business and call him and ask him what he thinks of a afb on a blow threw setup he will talk to you personally then let me know what you think of your setup.
@adamryanclark you dont get it- i know dam well that a holley 4150 will work and will be easier to tune. i am simply showing people that a afb can be used im not looking for a 1000 hp out of this thing but im pushing over 500 hp now with great street manners and a wot af of 11.3 so im proving that it works
I mean hell I'm not beating on your stuff but sometimes you got to take someones advice and try something that is tried and tested that works one of the other videos you got you can hear the motor pop threw the carb when you rev it but god luck don't comment me one day saying you know what adam you were right.
I'm not saying everyone is looking for 800hp but I bet sometime soon you will have some sort of problem trust me sooner or later it will happen with the afb with the C and S blow threw carbs they have a boost reference tube that adds fuel under acceleration a afb is not made for blow threw I would love to let you borrow my carb just to show you what a difference it will make in all ways.
With safer air fuels and no popping and cracking problems you set them and forget them I have one that has been on the same 434ci small block with a 88mm turbo for 4 years running 19psi of boost and have yet to have to pull the bowls or make an adjustment to it so if you wanna keep dealing with the bs then keep what you got or if you wanna bust some ass get quality.
@adamryanclark not sure why your hateing my build but i got it tuned in and it actually works great and cruises awesome just had to steal some tricks from your "perfect" holley based carbs and put some vent tube extentions to get the wot af's in check- could it of been done easier with a 4150, sure. but there is alot of people that have afb carbs and I wanted to show it could be done and done cheap not everyone is looking for 800hp
If any of you guys have any since you will take and throw away those junk afb and get a C and S or a AED I have had several blow threw setups and afb are not good choice I will make a bet with anyone put one of these carbs that I mentioned and I bet the car makes anywere from 30 to 50 more hp.
Ya works real well actually- just got it finally tuned in last week and it runs all the way to 6500 at 11.7 afr without a problem- its on a lsx with twin 57mm turbos at 15 psi
hi. after just a lttle advice, i'm doing a blowthrough single turbo job on a 302 windsor, will i need to richen the fuel air mixture for it to work efficiently? like if i leave the carby set up for n/a will it run way too lean on boost??
@hypersuperdude not always, ive seen where people had to go leaner then the stock jetting to get mid 11 afr. from all the half assed builds ive done best advise is to get an aem wideband before you crack a piston
Question, how does the secondary air valve handle the boost (the butterflies with the weights on the ends). Normally vacuum pulls them open, but does the added boost force them closed again? No problems with them....?

ya you can run the stock carb with the brass floats and the marine accelerator pump seal mod and it will work.
