I assume that rotten alarm tone was really just a combination of 5 tones and you found those spots on the board and stuck potentiometers in there under the sliders.....

thanks. actually, the fake wood panels were already painted on the alarm clock i used. i just painted everything else white. you can get wood pattern vynil contact paper. it's out there somewhere.
