Thank you for helping others with their Hair loss question of using Rogaine. I invite you to take a look at MY hair loss video :) If you are a Rogaine or Minoxidil user, both men and women, this is a MUST SEE VIDEO! It's a bit infomercial-ish, but I can show you how to get the most amazing results for your Minoxidil product. I hope you like it and please if you have any questions, i am happy to answerer anything I can :)
I'm 19 and i'm experiencing hair loss and thinning already. Would this help me? Do you think it's effective? Are there any other products you suggest to achieve the same or even better results? Is the foam more effective then the lotion or vice versa or do they work the same? Thanks for the video :)
@8OBHRZ yes, this should help you. the foam is not more effective than the lotion. it just has less a chance for allergic reaction and is easier to style but costs more. if you are a man, you should consider propecia. that requires a prescription. you need to speak with your physician about that. camouflaging products like nanogen or toppik can mask baldness too. you are too young for a transplant. find my video on young men, safety, hair transplant on youtube if you would like.
@samlammd Okay thanks for your advice, I'm actually a woman haha for some reason I get confused for a man on youtube, perhaps it's the picture of tupac? Haha. I was wondering what the difference was between the Rogaine for Men and Rogaine for Women? Does one work better than the other? If I used the one for men would my hair grow thick and coarse like a man's hair typically would or should I just stick to the womens formula? I do hope to achieve thickness as well as length and health.
@8OBHRZ no, they are the same but the 5% can work faster than the 2%. however, there is a little higher chance of secondary hair growth on the face if a woman uses it. i tend to recommend the 5% for women if they can tolerate it.
@samlammd Oh no, hair growth on the face is no good! There is only a small chance of this right? Are there any other side effects? Thank you for all your help :)
Thanks for the video! I think that foam is better, 'cause it's not so oily, but the main problem is that I don't know how to put exactly 2 ml on my scalp! Do u have any suggestions for me?
Is it necessary to wash my hair everyday? I usually wash them 3 times weekly, but on the instruction I've read it's supposed to put on clean hair...
@singeritaly you don't have to be that precise in my opinion. i do not think you need to wash your hair so long as the stuff does not get too sticky and irritating without washing your hair.
Moreover, I'd like to know if I can brush my hair directly following minoxidil. In fact also in order to apply foam as best as I can, I need to move my hair.
I currently suffer a receeding hairline at the temples and whatnot, I apply mine with a spray to the hairline and massage it in. Is this a good method for my condition or should I be applying it like you did? It's the Regaine Minioxidil 5%
@faYte0607 hmmm, that is unusual unless you are describing some natural thinning that can occur after several weeks of romaine when hairs are converting into a growth phase. o/w i would say still massage it in. whatever is going to fall out would do so anyways if they are that weakly held in place.
@samlammd Isn't it normal for those experiencing hair thinning to have hair fall out even with gentle massage to the scalp etc? Like when i shampoo my head very gently, hair will fall out (way more than the avg 50-100 strands that ppl experience daily)
Hey everyone ( not an add) I am trying this new method and it is working! Try using a nanogen scalproller and then applying the rogaine. It gets it into the bloodstream and helps regrowth hair with receding hairlines and all other types of balding!! You will thank me.
My friends been using it for 3 months and he's noticing slight growth around his temples, so hes convinced me to buy it. hopefully i'll be able to slow the rate of my "island" forming.
Since you demonstrated with the foam I feel like my question is already answered, but I'll ask it anyway. Is it safe for woman too use the Rogain foam for men? and is there any type of side effects I should know of? I heard there may be a period of hair shedding when you first start using it.... which scares me b/c I already have thin fine hair
@Trueghostgirl i prescribe rogaine foam 5% for women all the time. the biggest risk is unwanted secondary hair growth in the beard distribution. if this happens, you can shave it off and start 2% rogaine. yes, shedding is possible but that only means the hairs are cycling into a faster growth phase.
@mitejan i have no idea. that probably is not the same as our minoxidil here. who knows since it is not made here in the U.S., which is the only product I am familiar with.
@mitejan you should not. you should try to use it every day to twice a day if possible. you cannot maintain with 1 to 2 times per week. where are you reading these instructions?
On the web site it says you can use gel or hair products while using rogaine you first has to apply it let it dry and then you can use the products. My question is...in my case when i use the hair products my hear needs to be wet is that a problem? if i use rogaine let it dry and wet again my hear to use gel?
question many of us wonder and need an answerrrr!!!!!!!!!for how long do you keep rogaine on ur scalp after you apply it???4 hours? all day? 20 minutes.....?? if i keep it for long when i see it drying it turns like a white color on my scalp is it good?
Is it even necessary to wash your hair before applying?? I don't even part my hair, because I don't have as much hair as you and plus it's mostly applied to my frontal area. But I usually only wash my hair once a day, so I usually just re apply it without rewashing my hair.
Im 19 and i have a blad spot in the center of my head I'm a girl. I was just wondering if I can use the mens foam thingy so I can see faster results? Is it okay? or should i just stick with the womens
@Kara899 you can see faster results oftentimes with the men's foam so long as you do not have hair growth on the face as a side effect. if you have a bald spot on your head it may be alopecia areata that does respond to minoxidil but you might want to see a dermatologist and get steroids injected that could help. in any case it sounds as if a dermatologist should see your condition.
im 19 and im using rogaine... ive used for like a month or so.. the only problem is that i dont notice any change between my hair since i used it. my hair still falls when i put my hands through it... should i wait alittle bit more or should i stop using ?
@chit0kan0 first, one month is a short time. it takes at least that time to start seeing changes if not several months. second, and this is a big one, i hope you know that you can have INCREASED hair shedding in the first 4 to 6 weeks after starting the product. that is caused by hairs being cycled into a growth phase, which is typically a good sign. beyond that, you must seek advice by your medical doctor.
@wadima2003 yes, the 2% is for women, the 5% for men. however, i do recommend many women to be on 5% for faster results so long as they do not develop secondary hair growth effects. if they do obviously switch back to 2%.
so you CAN apply your pm dosage of rogaine even when you have used toppik that morning WITHOUT washing or rinsing the hair..and rogaine does penetrate and do its thing? thank you for clarifying this!!!!
thank you for the video. if you use toppik, do you have to wash your hair for the pm dosage? I do not like to wash my hair too often. Can I just take a washcloth and try to remove most of the toppik? and have you heard that toppik is bad for your hair growth as it clogs your pores? I hope not!!
i directly apply it to the sides of my hairline. ive been using it about 3-4 weeks and it may be too early to declare anything BUT i am noticing less hair in my hands when i wash my hair and rake my fingers through my hair. the only drawback is my hair is already wavy and crazy and the hairspray charactarisics of it makes it stickup alot more
@238Yuliana foam has the same clinical benefit as liquid but it is easier to style, less greasy, and less irritating. it is also slightly more expensive since it is only rogaine brand right now and it only comes in the 5% concentration for men. i do use it off label for women and if there is no hair growth on the face side effects then it is fine.
what then should i do? i even tried herbal hair treatment. have u heard of yunnam haircare? I tried this and it costs so much. its not helping. honestly i'm not sure its because of my diet or lifestyle or just my scalp health. should i see a dermatologist? or just any normal doctor will do? is there any dermatologist specializing in scalp health. somehow the doctors i met are unable to provide clear advice. one even gave me hormone
hello. i hv really oily scalp but my hair is dry and brittle. im below 20. used to hv bulimia for a year. but now im back to normal.. used minoxidil before but its just too oily. and tht makes my baldness more obvious.
@melijl did you try the foam version which is not oily? it is 5% solution but women have used it without a problem. if you are female and have secondary side effects of hair growth, obviously you should stop.
thanks for the video, where can I buy this rogaine minoxidil..is it available in drugstore or wallmart?and do i need a prescription to buy this product....thank u...
u said that it takes just 5 to 10 minutes to minidoxil penetrates the scalp and then we can dry and style right...? i have 1 question... i use the generic lotion 5% and is just that i thought that i could style or use a cap until totaly drys... and that takes like 1 or 2 hours... and i have been using this product for like almost 2 years and it worked for me just amazing!!
so here is my question... if 5 to 10 minutes is enough and if it works?
Yes, I also find that because of aluminum and more chemicals toppik contain its damaging the roots and pores , and doctors said that the side effect will cost losing the hair in less the 2 years. By the way China manufacture it not a fan !
i have read that this stuff has side effects, it can even make you lose more hair. is this true? i am to afraid to use this stuff , it just sits in my closet .
Your hair is dark and beautiful, so i guess this product is working for you then? My hair is dark too, i am 30 and it is thinning! :( It started fading in the corners like yours did, now i am starting to see my scalp more. :(Should i buy this product? It will grow back????)
Thanks for this video, it was very helpful and informative!
One question though: I can only source the foam in a 5% concentration for men... I know it's suggested for women to use the 2% solution... but there's no 2% foam!!
Is it safe for a woman to use the foam for men then??
i do ask women to use the foam for those who want a faster result, who want easier styling, and who are irritated by the propylene glycol of the generic. however, the only side effect is secondary hair growth elsewhere on the face. if that occurs, just stop, it will go away and switch back to 2%
i have noticed that i am losing a lot of hair. getting thinner and breaking. i am losing so much right now and i just turned 18. what am i suppose to do? should i try it and see the result?
is it bad for me because of my age? and one last question. i use shampoo every week, and it makes it more bad. what is a good shampoo you can recommend? thank you for u time and send me a massage if you can plz
shampoos really don't help. you should see your physician and explain your situation. if you are a man and may be suffering from male pattern baldness propecia and rogaine may help. if you are a woman, you might check with your physician to see what is happening.
You r so pretty. I like ur looks and ur voice.I am 26yr old female, i have waist length hair. I am living in middle east for past 3 months. My hair is shedding down(more than normal to me, around 100-150 hairs) since i came here. Can i use rogaine? Does it really stops hair fall? More hair will shed during the medication? how long i have to use it? i don't want to experiment anything on my hair. I never use anything on my hair (like colours, flat irons & styling products). plz advice
when you are losing hair, minoxidil oftentimes can slow down the process. nevertheless, you must always check with your doctor (family doc and/or dermatologist) to make sure what is causing your condition so that they can better treat it. for example, it could be low thyroid, post-pregnancy, female hormone problems, and/or low iron levels.
thank you so much for your video. it make every so clear. i was given the medicine by my dermatologist and i was confused how to use it the right way and when i saw your video it make everything cleared and simple. thanks again.
u sexy voice and ur pretty face made me forgot my hairloss for about 6min..thx for these 6 pretty min my love...r u single?, im not totally bald and ugly so maybe i still have a change..u can test next time minox on my head and scrub it nicely with ur sexy fingers
ok, best wishes. again, just want to make sure that you always consult your personal physician and never take any "advice" from a youtube discussion even one with me. best wishes to your success with your hair loss!!!
I am using minoxidil 5% i am a male 20 years old. i dont have a hairloss problem but i have lost some hair so i went to my doc who is very will known here and told me that this is anrogenetic alopecia and i will lose my hair exactly my dad did. SO i started minoxidil to regrow my little lost hair in front and keep them there. Now after nearly 3 months i believe i see much many more little hair coming out and focilures. i would like to ask if there is any way to make minoxidil more effective.
I use minoxidil 3,75% an i'm only 21. I am using it for just over one month. I got a lot of shedding. my crown has become worse and my temples too. What should i do?
1. typically minoxidil only comes in a 2 and a 5% so i am confused what you are taking. if you are taking some concocted version that costs a fortune, my suggestion is either use generic minoxidil or rogaine brand.
2. it is normal to shed at 3 to 6 weeks after start as hair gets cycled into the growth phase. otherwise, always consult a physician. i cannot give you specific medical advise on youtube.
It's generic minoxidil, my pharmacist makes it himself. 10 euros for 100ml or about 12 dollars I think? And the percentage of minox was suggested by my dermatologist.
i have not heard of libido being an issue. it can be in about 1% of people who take propecia. side effects include lower blood pressure, and skin allergic response. some early thoughts was that someone who had heart problems could have issues but that i believe has proven not to be the case. for all those reasons that is why it is so safe that it is over the counter now.
5% and foam are both 5%. that is overkill. they are the same thing. it is like saying can i drink a glass of coke and a can of coke at the same time. well, yes, but why? the foam costs more but is benefited by 2 things: easier styling and less risk of an allergic response. if you have not had an allergy from generic 5% in 3 to 5 days, you are fine. some people use the foam during the day to help styling and at night with the generic when styling does not matter.
I haven't started yet but I will soon and trying to pick something, I was gonna go for Propecia but decided not to, so I'm going for the Rogaine foam.
What are you referring to when you mention "applying topical *dermas* or whatever word it is? I can't understand what term you use for that. What is it, please, and what does that do? (do you have to rinse hairspray out at night to apply the evening's dose of Rogaine?) Thank you!
Hi I'd like to use Rogaine for eyebrows. Are there any Rogaine products sprecifically for eyebrows? Or I can use the common one with a Q-tip. If yes then how and how many times can I apply on the eyebrows?
yes and no. women can use it and get at times quicker results but there is an increased side effect with unwanted facial hair growth. if it occurs stop using it. some thoughts are though that after 1 year that the growth plateaus and closely approximates the 2%.
dutasteride is approved by the FDA for the prostate not for hair loss. also, the studies with finasteride DHT blocker shows that the skin absorption component is partially helping but the blood side has no benefit and that is a huge component of the effect.
I think i am going to discontinue with dutas and stick with propecia. I also heard dutas has a long half life meaning it takes 8 months to leave your system? That doesnt sound good.
Do you know if its safe to stop dutas and move to propecia or should i wait for some time before i start propecia?
i am a physician but i don't dispense medical advice without a formal physician-patient relationship. there are legal issues with just giving random people random advice without a proper evaluation and consultation.
I just got it (female, 27) and I hope it works. I feel like my hair has been thinning since I was 19, right in the middle above my forehead. Especially one spot. I tested my thyroid, everything should be fine, but I know my hair is receding! I am going to try it and hopefully it works. I can tell that my fine- baby type hairs have been choking out, getting thinner and thinner. Both sides of my fam have thinning hair.
it depends on the person, but... I see you are 15 so... I think you don't have to experience shedding (I'm 22 and I start using minoxidil 3 months ago and I don't have shedding)
but in case you have shedding... I don't think it would be noticible!
hey aurigas does minoxidil works for you?can you put it in all of your head or just at the back part?i'm from croatia and people here are very satisfied with minoxidil 5%...so if u know something please tell me...
Yeah!, I'm using it, Actually I'm on my 4 month and I see regrouth in the front part of the head!. I'm applying only in this part because the back is fine for me
You can use minoxidil everywhere on your head, but for the most of people is more effective in the back part that in the front!
oh thanks man...so it's really working?nice...but i heard from people that when they were using minoxidil 5% that their hair was great...and they had new hairs and hair was falling very slow..slower then without minox....but here is my question...i heard that when they stopped using minoxidil that their hair started to fall down again like they were not using minox...do u know something about that?
16 euros?only?here it costs around 30 euros...it's called alomax 5%....but one guy told me that minoxidil doesn't work on front of your head...on forehead...because that is genetically...is it true?
depends on the person, for me it works on the front... it depends mostly on the age... if you have started losing hair recently is very probably that minoxidil could regenerate all of it
The original clinical test for minoxidil were only for the back part of the head and if you read the prospect of the product you can read that "other benefits in other parts of the head could be experienced"
yes i know that..but i wanted to say for how long you must use it?your hair stop falling and new hair starts to grow...but you said if you stiop with minoxidil your hair will fall(that new hair that grow up from minox)....so for how long you must use minox?around 4,5 years?
Hi Sam! I just bought Rogaine extra strength Minoxidil for men. It says I should only apply 1mlx2 a day at max. I'm currently loosing hair on my front sides and not sure how to apply 1ml on these effected areas.
I think my confusion is that if i apply in the middle where my hair is thinning, would it work for the front sides itself?
I would appreciate your response if you've got time. thanks
i brought rogaine but never use it i am scare i will lose even more hair. lol my doc said my hairloss is from stress she pull my hair up and she said she see little hair growing back but they wont grow anymore then that small little hair where my hair loss was. my hair loss mostly from top my head and from left front side of my head its noticing now then ever i use to have thick hair like a wig lol
in this video the woman applied rogaine on front area (temples) but the instruction in the product mention apply it in vertex area...so i wonder if it works in the temple area too ?> thanks
thanks for replying so quick! couple more questions b4 i start to use rogaine. both sides of my head of hair is thinning too as well as frontal part (temple) and the top. 1. i should apply foam to the whole scalp area (temple, side, vertex) since not sure if rogaine work for side? 2. i should massage the area after i put the foam on? if so , for how long?
Hi, Sam, i been using rogaine for like 5 days, i put it on all affected area.which is almost the entire of my scalp especially both sides. each time i spent about 15-20 min to put it on and i followed the woman's instruction on video, i felt like im putting gels in my hair. in addition, i felt like i kinda lost hair after the last few days of using rogaine. is that normal, i m scared now. Thanks Sam
again, i am not supposed to give you medical advice here. i don't know about losing hair that fast. you might want to check with a physician regarding this. a dermatologist might be a good place to start.
Thanks Sam. I am only using the clip extensions for when I go out on occasion; and not all of them. My hair is in too many lengths and too thin to wear down on its own. I am being careful when I put them in. No fusions either. I am wearing it mostly in a ponytail. Next, I'll have to be very careful as to which dye to use since I have such a sensitive scalp. I was using a natural one from Whole Foods. No dyes til the hairs start growing back. Any dye tips? Thanks.
p.s., I stopped using the Rogaine at the end of August and this is the beginning of Feb. and so far, I don't see any growth coming in yet. How long does it take so see re-growth. Also, the dr. looked at my scalp and there is no redness or scarring. Thanks again. The Rogaine also made my body ached really bad. My hair fell out for 2-1/2 to 3 months; do you think it may eventually come back in? I am so desperate for answers and support!. My hair looks awful; I'm using hair extensions.Thanks.
obviously, i have no ways to answer medical advice here. in general, however, rogaine tends to cause some early shedding which is a good sign. in your case, it sounds as if you actually had a contact dermatitis. using the propylene glycol-free version, Rogaine Foam, can help. However, it comes only in the male 5%. i still recommend it off label for women (if you are a woman) and tell them to stop if there is any beard growth. finally, be careful with hair extensions and too much traction.
Hi; I have a question. You seem to know a lot. My hair was thin (not falling out when I went to dr.) She suggested using Rogaine. I used it for 2-3 weeks; my scalped burned so much I had to stop. My hair was falling out like crazy and continued to 2-3 months afterwards. My hair is thinner now than before I used it. Looks awful. Even too thin on sides for ponytail. You think it will start to regrow soon? If so, when should I expect to see it? Blood tests=fine. Thanks so much for the support!
because only hairs that are in telogen can shed. telogen hairs are asleep. our hairs are in different cycles. telogen hairs need to move to growth phase called anagen. since telogen is a small percentage 10 to 20% of hairs, that is the most that will temporarily shed.
Hi, could you use the Solution at night and the Foam in the morning? Or is it not advisable to mix them?
dave1555 1 month ago
@dave1555 that is perfect. no problem with mixing. i actually make your exact recommendation for the optimal styling and cost benefits.

@samlammd Isn't it normal for those experiencing hair thinning to have hair fall out even with gentle massage to the scalp etc? Like when i shampoo my head very gently, hair will fall out (way more than the avg 50-100 strands that ppl experience daily)

mitejan 10 months ago
@mitejan cool. no problem. :)
samlammd 10 months ago
as i said on paper that comes with the minoxidil
the minoxidil's name (probably brand name) is PILFUD from BOSNALIJEK (the country Bosnia) and i am using the 5%
it says:
tomorrow and in the evening put 1ml losion on dry scalp (bold spots)
the dose can't be more than 2ml
the therapy depends from the result. After you achieve the result the dose is reduced to a maintaining dose which is 1-2 times a week
mitejan 10 months ago
@mitejan i have no idea. that probably is not the same as our minoxidil here. who knows since it is not made here in the U.S., which is the only product I am familiar with.
samlammd 10 months ago
excuse but i have a question about the minoxidil in his genetic form
i've started putting minoxidil on my skin and i use it 2 a day as it's said per the instruction
so my question here is after lets say 1 year i have a good succes in growing new hairs and now i just want to maintain that result
can i reduce the usage of the minoxidil let's say every other day
ON MY PAPER INSTRUCTION SAYS
AFTER YOU ARE SATISSFIED WITH THE RESULT AND YOU WANT TO MAINTAIN IT USE MINOXIDIL 1-2 TIMES A WEEK ???
mitejan 10 months ago
@mitejan you should not. you should try to use it every day to twice a day if possible. you cannot maintain with 1 to 2 times per week. where are you reading these instructions?

Hi there,
How would you suggest using Rogaine if you use coconut oil (or any types of oils) overnight? Should I put Rogaine on before or after the oil?
Kind regards.
sunflower2107 1 year ago
@sunflower2107 probably rogaine first so that it has good contact with your scalp, which is important.
samlammd 1 year ago
On the web site it says you can use gel or hair products while using rogaine you first has to apply it let it dry and then you can use the products. My question is...in my case when i use the hair products my hear needs to be wet is that a problem? if i use rogaine let it dry and wet again my hear to use gel?
ventrilogo 1 year ago
@ventrilogo no need to let it dry.
samlammd 1 year ago
I heard from a lot minoxidil user, it works really, but after a longer period of time, the new hair gets lost again. is that true?
TheIncridibleOne 1 year ago
@TheIncridibleOne sort of. you continue to lose hair but a lot less and the process is slowed down with minoxidil.
samlammd 1 year ago
question many of us wonder and need an answerrrr!!!!!!!!!for how long do you keep rogaine on ur scalp after you apply it???4 hours? all day? 20 minutes.....?? if i keep it for long when i see it drying it turns like a white color on my scalp is it good?
litoboca 1 year ago
@litoboca all day if possible. you do not want to shower right after application. not sure about the color you are referencing.
samlammd 1 year ago
Is it even necessary to wash your hair before applying?? I don't even part my hair, because I don't have as much hair as you and plus it's mostly applied to my frontal area. But I usually only wash my hair once a day, so I usually just re apply it without rewashing my hair.
Nick153452 1 year ago
@Nick153452 no need to rewash to reapply. :)

Im 19 and i have a blad spot in the center of my head I'm a girl. I was just wondering if I can use the mens foam thingy so I can see faster results? Is it okay? or should i just stick with the womens
Kara899 1 year ago
@Kara899 you can see faster results oftentimes with the men's foam so long as you do not have hair growth on the face as a side effect. if you have a bald spot on your head it may be alopecia areata that does respond to minoxidil but you might want to see a dermatologist and get steroids injected that could help. in any case it sounds as if a dermatologist should see your condition.
samlammd 1 year ago
i have to use 20 drop at morning and 20 drop night ?
diggmars 1 year ago
im 19 and im using rogaine... ive used for like a month or so.. the only problem is that i dont notice any change between my hair since i used it. my hair still falls when i put my hands through it... should i wait alittle bit more or should i stop using ?
chit0kan0 1 year ago
@chit0kan0 first, one month is a short time. it takes at least that time to start seeing changes if not several months. second, and this is a big one, i hope you know that you can have INCREASED hair shedding in the first 4 to 6 weeks after starting the product. that is caused by hairs being cycled into a growth phase, which is typically a good sign. beyond that, you must seek advice by your medical doctor.
samlammd 1 year ago
is this uesful for women Becouse i think this one is for men
wadima2003 1 year ago
@wadima2003 yes, the 2% is for women, the 5% for men. however, i do recommend many women to be on 5% for faster results so long as they do not develop secondary hair growth effects. if they do obviously switch back to 2%.
samlammd 1 year ago
so you CAN apply your pm dosage of rogaine even when you have used toppik that morning WITHOUT washing or rinsing the hair..and rogaine does penetrate and do its thing? thank you for clarifying this!!!!
4methiswillwork 1 year ago
@4methiswillwork ok sorry, ideally rogaine is placed when there is no toppik. toppik can interfere with penetration.
samlammd 1 year ago
thank you for the video. if you use toppik, do you have to wash your hair for the pm dosage? I do not like to wash my hair too often. Can I just take a washcloth and try to remove most of the toppik? and have you heard that toppik is bad for your hair growth as it clogs your pores? I hope not!!
your response will be appreciated!
4methiswillwork 1 year ago
@4methiswillwork hi. you do not need to wash your hair, and Toppik should not clog your pores. :)

i directly apply it to the sides of my hairline. ive been using it about 3-4 weeks and it may be too early to declare anything BUT i am noticing less hair in my hands when i wash my hair and rake my fingers through my hair. the only drawback is my hair is already wavy and crazy and the hairspray charactarisics of it makes it stickup alot more
UniteForgetLeftRight 1 year ago
Is the foam you use for men?
238Yuliana 1 year ago
@238Yuliana foam has the same clinical benefit as liquid but it is easier to style, less greasy, and less irritating. it is also slightly more expensive since it is only rogaine brand right now and it only comes in the 5% concentration for men. i do use it off label for women and if there is no hair growth on the face side effects then it is fine.
samlammd 1 year ago
what then should i do? i even tried herbal hair treatment. have u heard of yunnam haircare? I tried this and it costs so much. its not helping. honestly i'm not sure its because of my diet or lifestyle or just my scalp health. should i see a dermatologist? or just any normal doctor will do? is there any dermatologist specializing in scalp health. somehow the doctors i met are unable to provide clear advice. one even gave me hormone

@melijl yes, a dermatologist is a great way to go. they are specialized in hair disorders.

@melijl did you try the foam version which is not oily? it is 5% solution but women have used it without a problem. if you are female and have secondary side effects of hair growth, obviously you should stop.

Thanks again for this great video. Can I pester you with a couple of questions:
1. If I workout about four hours after applying it, and I sweat, do I need to reapply it?
2.I've noticed some new, longer, fine hairs in the temporal vortex area. Do these hairs thicken with continued use or stay very fine?
3. Any idea whether using nizoral shampoo twice a day would be too much?
ganyuehan 2 years ago
Yes, I also find that because of aluminum and more chemicals toppik contain its damaging the roots and pores , and doctors said that the side effect will cost losing the hair in less the 2 years. By the way China manufacture it not a fan !

Your hair is dark and beautiful, so i guess this product is working for you then? My hair is dark too, i am 30 and it is thinning! :( It started fading in the corners like yours did, now i am starting to see my scalp more. :(Should i buy this product? It will grow back????)
inmyopinion999 2 years ago
Thanks for this video, it was very helpful and informative!
One question though: I can only source the foam in a 5% concentration for men... I know it's suggested for women to use the 2% solution... but there's no 2% foam!!
Is it safe for a woman to use the foam for men then??
mizniss 2 years ago
i do ask women to use the foam for those who want a faster result, who want easier styling, and who are irritated by the propylene glycol of the generic. however, the only side effect is secondary hair growth elsewhere on the face. if that occurs, just stop, it will go away and switch back to 2%

hi there
am in my graduation year of high school.
i have noticed that i am losing a lot of hair. getting thinner and breaking. i am losing so much right now and i just turned 18. what am i suppose to do? should i try it and see the result?
is it bad for me because of my age? and one last question. i use shampoo every week, and it makes it more bad. what is a good shampoo you can recommend? thank you for u time and send me a massage if you can plz
thanks again.
ksalhanek 1 year ago
shampoos really don't help. you should see your physician and explain your situation. if you are a man and may be suffering from male pattern baldness propecia and rogaine may help. if you are a woman, you might check with your physician to see what is happening.

I never use anything on my hair (like colours, flat irons & styling products). plz advice
roshanshereef1976 2 years ago
when you are losing hair, minoxidil oftentimes can slow down the process. nevertheless, you must always check with your doctor (family doc and/or dermatologist) to make sure what is causing your condition so that they can better treat it. for example, it could be low thyroid, post-pregnancy, female hormone problems, and/or low iron levels.

Before you apply the lotion rogaine, you have to wash your hair?
And if you aplly the lottion twice a day, then you also have to wash your hair 2 times?
Is that good?
funster1984 2 years ago
you do not necessarily have to wash your hair every time before rogaine. the point is not to wash your hair AFTER you apply rogaine.

samlammd 2 years ago
I am using minoxidil 5% i am a male 20 years old. i dont have a hairloss problem but i have lost some hair so i went to my doc who is very will known here and told me that this is anrogenetic alopecia and i will lose my hair exactly my dad did. SO i started minoxidil to regrow my little lost hair in front and keep them there. Now after nearly 3 months i believe i see much many more little hair coming out and focilures. i would like to ask if there is any way to make minoxidil more effective.
jakard123 2 years ago
First of all see your doctor if you wanna follow my advice as it is only what I have learned from my own research to regrowing hair:
- Nizoral shampoo removes sebum (2% more effective than 1%)
- Look into taking the saw palmetto herb. It takes 3 months to be effective but I've read a study that it reduces DHT which blocks hair growth
- Drink spearmint tea, as it's been shown to reduce DHT.
Good Luck! For more info you can google scholar this info. Cheers!
Kora10LGA 2 years ago
ANd my minoxidil is not foam it is spray drops . I use it cause it goes straigt to my skin and can put the sprey thingy direcly to my skin.
jakard123 2 years ago
all that sounds fine. consult your doctor about finasteride (propecia). a lot of benefit can be had with that medication.
samlammd 2 years ago
I use minoxidil 3,75% an i'm only 21. I am using it for just over one month. I got a lot of shedding. my crown has become worse and my temples too. What should i do?
akirahans 2 years ago
1. typically minoxidil only comes in a 2 and a 5% so i am confused what you are taking. if you are taking some concocted version that costs a fortune, my suggestion is either use generic minoxidil or rogaine brand.
2. it is normal to shed at 3 to 6 weeks after start as hair gets cycled into the growth phase. otherwise, always consult a physician. i cannot give you specific medical advise on youtube.
samlammd 2 years ago
It's generic minoxidil, my pharmacist makes it himself. 10 euros for 100ml or about 12 dollars I think? And the percentage of minox was suggested by my dermatologist.
akirahans 2 years ago
ok, that sounds fine then. we just don't have that strength in the U.S. sorry, using U.S. FDA standards.
samlammd 2 years ago
what's is the cost of real minoxidil? are you european? i m french
sfourne2 2 years ago
Of course libido isn't a visible side effect, ahah.
gloomyoutlook 2 years ago
i have not heard of libido being an issue. it can be in about 1% of people who take propecia. side effects include lower blood pressure, and skin allergic response. some early thoughts was that someone who had heart problems could have issues but that i believe has proven not to be the case. for all those reasons that is why it is so safe that it is over the counter now.
samlammd 2 years ago
What are some of the visible side effects for use of Minoxidil on men? I heard about unwanted hair growth, and lowered libido?
gloomyoutlook 2 years ago
Can you use Minoxidil 5% Extra Strength Hair Regrowth Treatment for Men and Rogaine Foam?
OSOK995 2 years ago
5% and foam are both 5%. that is overkill. they are the same thing. it is like saying can i drink a glass of coke and a can of coke at the same time. well, yes, but why? the foam costs more but is benefited by 2 things: easier styling and less risk of an allergic response. if you have not had an allergy from generic 5% in 3 to 5 days, you are fine. some people use the foam during the day to help styling and at night with the generic when styling does not matter.
samlammd 2 years ago
Okay, I see.
I haven't started yet but I will soon and trying to pick something, I was gonna go for Propecia but decided not to, so I'm going for the Rogaine foam.
Thank you so much for your reply.

how long must you wait until you can wear a hat?
also, like many other people have already asked, must you wash your hair before applying for the second time
arumba11 2 years ago
The pamphlet that came with my Minoxidil treatment says at least 60 minutes, so the perspiration caused by the hat doesn't affect the absorption.

So women can use the men's strength Rogaine?
OneFeistyScorpio 2 years ago
yes and no. women can use it and get at times quicker results but there is an increased side effect with unwanted facial hair growth. if it occurs stop using it. some thoughts are though that after 1 year that the growth plateaus and closely approximates the 2%.

His it good to mix dutarstride with minoxidil and make a home made topical solution? I mean break one capsule of dutas and mix it with mino?
KarthikSoun 2 years ago
first, dutasteride really only works by mouth not by topical. second, i really only use FDA approved finasteride.
samlammd 2 years ago
i never thought dutasteride was not approved by FDA! is there any reason why FDA does not recognize duta?
but it is common knowledge that dutas is absorbed buy the skin, thats why they dont advise woman to touch it.
KarthikSoun 2 years ago
dutasteride is approved by the FDA for the prostate not for hair loss. also, the studies with finasteride DHT blocker shows that the skin absorption component is partially helping but the blood side has no benefit and that is a huge component of the effect.
samlammd 2 years ago
I think i am going to discontinue with dutas and stick with propecia. I also heard dutas has a long half life meaning it takes 8 months to leave your system? That doesnt sound good.
Do you know if its safe to stop dutas and move to propecia or should i wait for some time before i start propecia?

beyond general principles, i really should not be dispensing direct medical advice. you need to ask your dispensing physician.

Does minoxidil make you experience noticible shedding for the first 2 weeks by others?
imastar93 2 years ago
it depends on the person, but... I see you are 15 so... I think you don't have to experience shedding (I'm 22 and I start using minoxidil 3 months ago and I don't have shedding)
but in case you have shedding... I don't think it would be noticible!
Aurigas 2 years ago
hey aurigas does minoxidil works for you?can you put it in all of your head or just at the back part?i'm from croatia and people here are very satisfied with minoxidil 5%...so if u know something please tell me...
croatinho 2 years ago
Yeah!, I'm using it, Actually I'm on my 4 month and I see regrouth in the front part of the head!. I'm applying only in this part because the back is fine for me
You can use minoxidil everywhere on your head, but for the most of people is more effective in the back part that in the front!
Aurigas 2 years ago
oh thanks man...so it's really working?nice...but i heard from people that when they were using minoxidil 5% that their hair was great...and they had new hairs and hair was falling very slow..slower then without minox....but here is my question...i heard that when they stopped using minoxidil that their hair started to fall down again like they were not using minox...do u know something about that?
croatinho 2 years ago
Yes, you will lose all benefit of hair growth, you will lose the hair you've regrown in about 3-4 months.
Aurigas 2 years ago
yes but what's the point then?you must use minoxidil until you are dead?:)
minoxidil costs about 50$...so every month you must give 50$ for minox...?
croatinho 2 years ago
Yes... you must keep using it to maintain the benefits!
Aurigas 2 years ago
so you intend to use it for how long?until the rest of your life?
croatinho 2 years ago
yeah... I spent 16€ each month it's not a big deal
Aurigas 2 years ago
16 euros?only?here it costs around 30 euros...it's called alomax 5%....but one guy told me that minoxidil doesn't work on front of your head...on forehead...because that is genetically...is it true?
croatinho 2 years ago
depends on the person, for me it works on the front... it depends mostly on the age... if you have started losing hair recently is very probably that minoxidil could regenerate all of it
The original clinical test for minoxidil were only for the back part of the head and if you read the prospect of the product you can read that "other benefits in other parts of the head could be experienced"
Aurigas 2 years ago
yes thanks man...so when you buy minox...you must use it for how long?do u know that maybe?
croatinho 2 years ago
you can see the first results in about... 2-3 even 4 months
I apply 1ml when I wake up and another 1ml hours before I go to sleep
Aurigas 2 years ago
yes i know that..but i wanted to say for how long you must use it?your hair stop falling and new hair starts to grow...but you said if you stiop with minoxidil your hair will fall(that new hair that grow up from minox)....so for how long you must use minox?around 4,5 years?
croatinho 2 years ago

Hi, Sam,
in this video the woman applied rogaine on front area (temples) but the instruction in the product mention apply it in vertex area...so i wonder if it works in the temple area too ?> thanks
soloveyou09 2 years ago
yes, the vertex information with rogaine is where the fda has approved it. it works equally well pretty much across the whole scalp. do the temples!
samlammd 2 years ago
Hi, sam
thanks for replying so quick! couple more questions b4 i start to use rogaine. both sides of my head of hair is thinning too as well as frontal part (temple) and the top. 1. i should apply foam to the whole scalp area (temple, side, vertex) since not sure if rogaine work for side? 2. i should massage the area after i put the foam on? if so , for how long?
thanks again Sam!
soloveyou09 2 years ago
do all affected areas. make sure it touches the scalp. massage is not necessary.
samlammd 2 years ago
Hi, Sam, i been using rogaine for like 5 days, i put it on all affected area.which is almost the entire of my scalp especially both sides. each time i spent about 15-20 min to put it on and i followed the woman's instruction on video, i felt like im putting gels in my hair. in addition, i felt like i kinda lost hair after the last few days of using rogaine. is that normal, i m scared now. Thanks Sam
soloveyou09 2 years ago
again, i am not supposed to give you medical advice here. i don't know about losing hair that fast. you might want to check with a physician regarding this. a dermatologist might be a good place to start.
samlammd 2 years ago
Thanks.

Thanks so much for the support!

why some of my frd dont shed more after using minoxidil?
feilhk 3 years ago
because only hairs that are in telogen can shed. telogen hairs are asleep. our hairs are in different cycles. telogen hairs need to move to growth phase called anagen. since telogen is a small percentage 10 to 20% of hairs, that is the most that will temporarily shed.
