Technically you can import the GBA releases of M1+2 and M3, then play the translations. That way you're supporting the series while being able to play it in your own language. It's also not too tough to get through the games without knowing the language if you want to play them on your Gameboy. Plus the scripts are written without kanji, making them easy games to play if you're learning Japanese.

This game is one of THE best ever! It is a very challenging game though. It'll put no mercy on you because the game just starts abruptly and there are no tutorials, and anything can kill you, even the lamp in the beginning of the game. But that challenge only makes it better.

@Kioshi49 You're lucky you had met your friend. You can download an emulator, and get the game for it, but it takes away the original feel from it. Mother 1 is for the NES. That'll cost about $50+. Mother 2(Known in the US as Earthbound) goes around $100+ for JUST THE GAME. Mother 3 is in Japanese only, but some people have been able to translate it into English, but that's only for a ROM for the emulator. It plays on the GBA and the game needs to be transported. Emulators are your best bet.

@smb40 Nobody understands that games aren't supposed to be just about war and guns. They aren't supposed to simulate real life things, but they did it anyways. I'll admit that I play those games (Call of Duty), but it won't affect me like games like this (Mother Series). These games are actually FUN.

So I brought my copy of MOTHER 3 into class one day and was playing, I showed them.

The were like

"Why do you play this? It's pretty terrible. The graphics are terrible and theres no action or gun wars"

On my last day of my Freshman year in Highschool, we had no classes that day, just a whole day of chilling out in our homeroom class. I brought in something, and asked my teacher if I could show it to the class. To his surprise, it was a NES and a cartridge of Demiforce's Mother/Earthbound Zero game, put into NES format.

It's just that it wasn't projected as something exaggerated, or wasn't showing that life was some worthless thing that you can throw away and come back in 5 seconds of death. That, and these old games had a story that isn't all recycled with new and vigorous imagination. Besides that point, these games had music and color. That of which games like God of War and CoD will truly never comprehend. (CoD actually has decent music sometimes)

@smb40 And at the beginning, they were all snickering, mocking, and were exactly like you described: "Why do you play this crap?" blah blah... Near Mt. Itoi, I looked back, and some of them had stopped, and they looked intrigued.

At the end of the game, after the credits rolled by, everyone applauded, and... They all liked it, even my teacher liked it! Never judge a book (OR GAME IN THIS MATTER) by its graphics, cover, or storyline. Mother will always be a beautiful series. Long live it!
