Zoot doesn't get enough love, he's hilarious... all of Mayhem are... in my mind Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem are one of the best bands ever invented Muppets or not!!!
I have to say that this episode of the Muppet Show was one of my all-time favourites, mainly because Anne Murray is a fellow Maritimer, like me. She was born and raised in Springhill, Nova Scotia and it was nice to see that she brought her Canadian songs to the Muppet show. Makes me all-the-more proud to be a Canadian.
@MichaelBrookham Very well said, my friend! I wish they'd release the rest of the series on DVD. I'm still waiting for seasons 4 & 5 to complete my collection. I'm a fellow Maritimer as well (Fredericton, NB) and it makes me proud Ms. Murray appeared on that show. VERY impressive! I wish I could ask her what it was like to go on that show. Wishing you all my best.
@MichaelBrookham That's awesome! I visited Miramichi a few years ago and partied a little bit too much...haha! But from what I remember, I had an awesome time! LOL! I try to watch my Muppet Show episodes at least once a week. My favourite one is Beaker. Poor guy always ends up being the guinea pig of that evil mad scientist Honeydew!
Dave was never sure what to do with Zoot, since, unlike Gonzo and Bunsen, Zoot wasn't really a facate of Dave or anyone Dave knew. So whenever the character had speaking roles, he'd try passing them off to someone else, right?
The whole forgetfulness of Zoot makes him that much cuter. Man, he is my one of my favorite Muppets, along with Beaker and Floyd Pepper. Also, since he is so forgetful, this was the first time I ever heard him say his name. All and all, I love Zoot.
I loved this Anne Murray song. This use to be my favorite song when I was a kid. I wish that someone puts an Anne Murray "Walk Right Back" video on YouTube.
@srf1969 I didn't know at the time the Everly Brothers originally did it.Anne Murray's a fellow Nova Scotian and no offense whatsoever to her,but the Everlys are untouchable on that one.
I -3 Zoot :D

Why can't something this charming be on tv today? I love the Muppets and way past Jack Benny's perennial '39'! Thanks for posting.

Maybe Zoot isn't stoned? Maybe he's so smitten with Anne Murray he just goes to pieces??? She was a good looking lady then!!

This was my favorite episode 25 years ago when I was little. My aunt (rest her soul) and I used to sing this one all the time.

This is the most I've ever heard Zoot talk. He's pretty cool (yet obviously on somethin').

Anybody who can sing to a puppet with such unbridled sincerity and bent humour has my vote. "Blow", Zoot. Blow!
Priceless!

Delightful clip. I love the naturalness of Anne Murray ...plus her great diction. Really puts the song across.
Thank you.

A classy singer that made the show even better. Anne Murray to Canada is like what Loretta Lynn is to the Usa
