  • R.I.P. Robbie France \m/

  • hey us vs uk- diamond head invented the shit that made thrash, and who cares where you're from? if you had nothing to do with diamond head you can't boast for shit

  • We americans made Thrash Metal

  • Well, though the Metallica version has more balls to it, that's to be expected. I still dig some Diamond Head though when I'm tired of listening to same old same old. Though his "ohhhhhh.....ohhhhh..." is funny here. Rock on guys!

  • WHEN EVER I SEE THE BRITS INVENTED HEAVY METAL I ... nod and say yes.. yes they did.

  • mm hhahaha phamtom lorddd hahahah

  • 5 out of the 7 songs on this have been covered by metallica

  • And I will burn in Hell, from the day I die....

  • why this band wasnt as big as Iron Maiden or Judas or Metallica is beyond me

  • @grimcow4000 They were 5 years too early.

  • Comment removed

  • the fuckin bass lines are fuckin epic!!!!!!!!!

  • the metallica version is better but this one is good too :)

  • yes.smooth thrash.first thrash

  • Saw Diamond Head, Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer and Metallica one after another on the same night! Thanks for that Sonisphere.

  • Okay its offical, "Lightning to the Nations" is an Awesome album. This song is great and so is "Am I evil'. I'd say both versions of "The Prince" are amazing PERIOD!

  • this version kicks ass. i ride FMX to this song. i love metallica but they cant touch this.

  • we brits made heavy metal

  • @wertyuioman i thought misfits were american?

  • @sebby4298 sorry you're right my bad

  • @sebby4298 not to mention hard rock and roll

  • @sebby4298 You brits also made oasis & george michael...enough said.

  • @sebby4298 no doubt about that

  • @sebby4298 yep black sabbath kicked it off

  • @sebby4298 BUT the brits didnt make THRASH metal....

  • @TheEscalofrio witching hour by venom?.. yeah we did, venom played fast, tape trading meant they were heard in america then exodus slayer metallica all popped up

  • diamond heads version is better....funky bass..

  • so underrated =[

  • i hate reading metallica on every diamond head video diamond head is awesomer and go talk about metallica somewhere else

  • Trapped Under Ice by Metallica was inspired by that song :)

  • @basslovak I thought kirks old riff from exodus. but I can see what you mean

  • @wertyuioman that was creeping death

  • @wertyuioman Kirk wrote music only on the first Exodus demo.Bonded by blood and all the other albums after have nothing to do with kirk.

  • @basslovak and the prince is a cover song by metallica as well :P

  • @basslovak the whole existence of metallica was inspired by this album ;)

  • everytime i hear this, i want to listen to crown of worms, everytime i listen to crown of worms i want to listen to this... ITS GOING TO DRIVE ME CRAZY.

  • @sighyourvideosucks to me that sounds like an awesome circle.

  • Try "All Hell Let Loose" By "Grim Reaper".

  • @JudazPreist

Thanks for reminding me mate :)

  • @ExtremeBogom Any day brah!

  • i love metallica cause they opened my world to the unheard metal

  • @dillonlucido Unheard? You haven't even started yet budro, this is the basics. Now when you het into bands like cutty sark, or nation, or tokyo blade, maybe even stormwitch. White metal warriors maybe? Excalibur? Axe witch? Grim reaper? Brocas Helm? Elixer is a good one! There are so many bands out there it's mindblowing! Sadley alot of them end up being better than metallica but never got popular so they only made one album. Hard researching pays off.

  • @dillonlucido

    Good stuff man.

I don't know about you, but whenever I get the itch to listen to some Metallica, I then get the itch to listen to these guys after haha. Rock on.

  • I like the speed and sound of Metallica's version better, but goddamn son! That post-harmony solo came out of nowhere! That's not speeding up any time soon.

  • i love Metallica but they wouldnt exist if it wasn't for Diamond Head

  • @Metalfier and no metal would exist if it wasnt for black sabbath :)

  • Great Song, the best of the Lighting To The Nations, With Am I Evil

  • The Prince, haha

This should be played for the intro of the royal wedding this week it seems to fit considering the prince is getting married and that these's are a British rock/metal band.

  • @sedgie09 no doubt william will be listening to this while he is defiling kates cunt. i will be.

  • This happens to be my favorite song. It's just so ARGH! In your face. I love it :)

  • this song is awsome to play, i played it live in my school and everybody love it

  • @Johnvc100 yeah its very fun indeed!

  • 3:20 and then the solo, amazing! its too much

  • rah rah rah i think this . now i gotta talk like this and act possed to sell . my bord fucking hobby has turned into the delusion i actually care what these practices in practice come up with . like my want . amungst manny manny other things i own in trates cause people to want to kill me . will no one no one here my desolite crys . lol im just fucking with you guys fight on ..... rock on . long as its not on my lawn . but i dont have a lawn so just do it

  • @Levygerards1 and so are you. just enjoy the music!

  • man i don't care if these guys never mad it big.....still fucking legends in my book..... I've been hooked since i was 9 and they will lower me into my grave with Am I Evil playing......diamond head fan for life \m/

  • @Levygerards1 im not a 13 year old runescape player ( i dnt even know wat that is) and even if I was, atleast I know alot more bout metal than u , so in that regard, ur still a noob, and ull always be a noob no matter how hard u try to convince ppl ur not and that u "dont care" wat they think, coz the fact is, u like St. Anger and Bullet for My Valentine, that just means that u hav the musical taste of a 12 year old that has very limited knowledge on metal =), anyways, buzz off, and grow up

  • @laithlaith91 you are an idiot.

  • @tanooj2 you are an idiot

  • @Levygerards1 ur still a noob, stop trying to reverse the situation and make urself sound smart, if u rly wna prove to me ur not a noob, how bout u list atleast 3 or 4 other guitar players from around Hendrix's era(or maybe a bit further) that hugely influenced metal guitar players

  • @laithlaith91 that wasn't for me but don't you hear some richie blackmore in this song and other diamond head too?

  • @guitarismysword1 well ya ofcourse, Blackmore is Brian Tatler's biggest influence (he sed though his favorite band is Zeppelin, he patterns his style the most after Ritchie Blackmore) lsning to this album and then going and listening to sumthing like sayy...deep purple in rock, u'll find a good amount of similarities in the riffing style

  • @Levygerards1 spelling? so im spsd to spell properly? wat a noob thing to say, ya i know Hendrix, wow I dno but shud I applaud u for asking me bout the most wellknown guitar player in the world?atleast ask me bout sum1 like Robin Trower or Rory Gallgher, no im nt saying go lsn to them(although, if u were deeply into this music ud already know them) but I take it (according to the bands u listed me ) u havent been lsning to metal for too long, so I think ull get to them eventually

  • @Levygerards1 and why are u talking to me anyway? mind ur own damn business , I wasnt talking to you in the first place

  • @Levygerards1 you're still a noob, those bands u listed take a few days of metal research(or not even) to lsn to, and they're all meh, I dnt know how long uve been lsning to metal but if its been long u shud b lsning to other bands, explore more, dont b a noob, lsn to bands like Witchfinder General, Carnage,Massacre,Dismember, Riot, Carnivore, Torture, Coroner, Heathen,Omen,Pentagram, etc. but ofcourse I doubt uve ever bothered to lsn to any of'em before

  • @Levygerards1 You lsn to St. Anger, and u lsn to Bullet, and Children Of Bodom...that says all I need to know about you, now go away and stop whining trying to prove me wrong and mind ur own business, noob =D

  • @Levygerards1 and you're an example of the noobs that dont lsn to more than 10 or so bands in metal, and if they do they're all mainstream shit, I never said the cover is bad, the cover's good but its not better than the original, and its even more disrespectful to think that it's Metallica's own song, now go away Metallica fanboy

  • Machiavelli was the prince and reading his book was like getting kicked in the nuts repeatedly.

  • @chloroplastjeff: ... No he wasn't. The Prince represented the aristocracy of the time.

  • Its sad that every Diamond Head video I open I have to see some noob mention Metallica

  • @laithlaith91 Everyone likes Diamond Head, but its hard NOT to mention Metallica on a Diamond Head, video because Metallica is 1. REALLY GOOD and 2. They were inspired by Diamond Head.

  • @horrormoviefan20 okay,so wat ur saying is basically that every band thats inspired by someone and is good has to b mentioned on a video? okay I guess ill start going to Celtic Frost pages and saying "THESE GUYS INFLUENCED CORONER!" or go to Uriah Heep pages and spam the walls with "THESE GUYS WERE A HUGE INSPIRITATION ON MERCYFUL FATE" lol

  • @laithlaith91 No, all I am saying is that with THIS particular band someone is GOING to mention Metallica BECAUSE not only was Metallica influenced by this band but they also did a REALLY good cover of Am I Evil that a lot of people think is better then the original... so... yeah....

  • @horrormoviefan20 only noobs that have unexperienced ears in metal wud think the cover is better than the original, hahah, and ppl shud quit talking bout Metallica and focus on other bands, thers way more bands out there to discover than to stick to Metallica

  • @laithlaith91 Everyone have different opinions. For instance I think that the original Am I Evil is better then Metallica's cover BUT I still like Metallica's version. I think Metallica is a better band then Diamond Head BUT I still like Diamond Head. Its all a matter of opinions, BUT what matters is how you choose to EXPRESS your opinion.

  • Not bad, but I prefer the metallica cover :P

  • @EtsuFairu well why are u here metallafag

  • @IcantDiedeadenough I think you All here only becouse metallicas cover

  • @EtsuFairu metallica = asshats

  • @EtsuFairu cunt

  • Awesome! I fucking love that riff. The riffs and soaring vocals diamond head provides just gets me going

  • where can i download this ?? please help

  • El cover de MetallicA suena mejor.

  • @19metallica01 tu abuelo suena mejor

  • This is the original "the prince" that metallica has remaked !!!

  • wow,awesome.

thats from a metallica fan (:

  • 1 bitch is gay

  • I believe i just jizzed in my pants

  • 54 thumbs up? Yikes!

  • Why is it that whenever I hear an amazing song and it turns out to be from Diamond Head, its always from this album? This album kicks ass.

  • i,m going to see them in about an hour :)

  • @chrisfehn09 I'm seeing them Tomorrow Can't wait!!

  • The bass remember,a little,punk rock.

  • I am one "yank" that will give them their props. If you love Metallica then you know that Diamond Head was one of their biggest influences along with Black Sabbath. Sabbath is the true father of heavy metal. These guys were playing this shit in the 70's. This is as heavy as it got then. Period.

  • @clskinsfan Motorhead was also a great influence on Metallica as well

  • @clskinsfan I disagree with the way you put it...what you are talking about is loudness which is diffrerent than being heavy to me...killswitch engage is pretty heavy (due to downtuning and production mainly) but are they heavier than Sabbath or Diamond Head? In my opinion no...what I am trying to say is that being heavy metal does not mean that I am going to the studio use a tuning or setting, play my music and it sounds distorted and loud and it is hevay metal...it is more complicated thanthat

  • i like this one beter than metallica... maybe becouse is original

  • Im a huge Metallica fan but i dont think their version has anything on this.

The part at 3:04 reminds me of some other song. wat is it?

  • Love the keyboard/organ tone in the background.

Love the Bassist. He's not just dubbing the guitar.

    Love the vocals.

Love that Metallica copied these guys on some of their shit otherwise I never would have heard of them!

  • @flanksteak1 I don't like the term copied. It's covered.

  • I'm thankful Metallica introduced it anew and familiarized this westerner with it- but they did take it lick for lick, every trick- but how can one improve upon perfection, I suppose?WOWYEAH

  • Metallica's version was better

  • @Dingle294 Wow. I don't even know what to say to that. That's just-- No.

  • @spyhonderd How dare you blaspheme the great Metallica

  • @Dingle294 Hey man, just want to clarify some things here yeah. Metallica gets inspiration from this kind of bands, if u love Metallica's version of this song, then its your own liking, Without this band ever playing this song you wouldn't even ever hear metallica covering this song. No doubt Metallica is awesome and all that, they have to start somewhere they get influences to get where they are.

  • @Dingle294 How dare you blaspheme the great Diamond Head? Seriously, man. Metallica got their influence from Diamond Head and covered a lot of their songs, but it's kind of uncalled for to, like, deny the original.

  • @spyhonderd

Just listend to metalica's version. Its ok but sounds out of place.

  • @360doug I /know/. It might be because we're used to this version, but I still think is blasphemous to say Metallica did it better.

  • and now prince is simply making records for himself free from labels and contracts he finaly dropped and return to usind the name prince.sis track is OMG gleefullexually explicit sexy mf funky head.sharp deep melodies with agroove that were among the best of his age now.god bless princes head, god bless the fans and the age!

  • This album was released 30 years ago today.

  • @wutpantera and its still better than the shit today

  • @ichbinvielzukleint The album was released on October 3 1980, I was born October 3 1994. I put that comment on my birthday.

  • kick ass song! tasty riffing & vocals

  • Very cool stuff. Thanks.

  • Great song to cover.... Metallica did a good job

  • @mynameisjoshb good try amazing but this kicks the shit out of anything

  • Sick solo

  • nice song:)

  • esta banda hubiera superado por mucho a Metallica ya que fue una de sus principales inspiraciones ademas el Sean Harris si canta bn perrón

    See His Face

    See His Smile

    Time To Die!

  • @LucciTaylor08 mmmm perdon pero el estudiante siempre supera al maestro en este caso metallica termino superando a diamond head en albunes como RTL MOP AJFA .... es obvio

  • @LucciTaylor08 do u like Killers by Iron Maiden?

  • @Studas2006 yes of course I have this one

  • this song reminds me of metallica's hit the lights

  • yeah, the verse is pretty similar

  • CLASSIKA !!!!!!

  • it kind of pisses me off that diamond head will always be associated with metallica. every review ive seen at some point says "metallica covered these songs" or "this album really influenced metallica" or "metallica fans should listen to this." i wish people would think of them as a band, not the guys who influenced metallica.

  • @swalters95 There's a strong possibility that without the Metallica buzz the band would remain in the abyss of unrecognised mediocrity. I think being forever associated with another band is a small price to pay to keep their names in metal minds where they belong.

  • @KingOfPuroresu yeah. probably the best metal bands out there are the ones we dont know yet.

  • @swalters95 I feel you, but the fact is if Metallica hadn't covered them, we probably won't be talking about Diamond head.

  • So this is where Metallica got the idea of spontaneous solos coming out of nowhere.

  • the prince + metal gods = phantom lord :P

  • @jcast18k

    not metal gods, rapid fire

  • @jcast18k + Ace Of Spades

  • oOOoh ooOOoh uouooo

  • I met brian tatler tonite and got his autograph, awesome he was really nice.

  • damn this album is 54$ on amazon lol

  • I wish more poeple knew about Diamond Head.

  • @Powerman6002 Now I do, so... yay?

    Yay!

  • Epic song. I can see how they influenced Metallica. Kill Em All sounds like this. DIAMOND HEAD RULES!!!!!!!

  • they did become big but at their 3rd album wasn't good enough and people just stop listening to em and so they progressively got forgotten

  • How did this band not become big? this is excellent!

  • @Co2Und3rground they had a shity manger and didnt get signed they also didnt play many gigs in london the place to b at the time, they should be huge though cos they kick ass

  • @Co2Und3rground ironically after 30 years u dont have to be big,u have tu be classic.beatles included.

  • @Co2Und3rground they were noticed enough, metallica covered am i evil

  • @Co2Und3rground they did become big, but only on this album. Once they released their second album, they REALLY dropped down. That's why.

  • @Co2Und3rground

They chose not to go into the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal or aka as american thrash or speed metal.

So if you see their albums after, Borrowed Time, you can see how in a way they made a 180 degree turn and "sold out".

  • @Co2Und3rground Poor management :( There's so many great metal bands that don't get the recognition they deserve. At least Diamond Head partially did through Metallica and Megadeth.

  • Wow it's the original Phantom Lord.

  • @shinshoryuken lol hell ya ant that the truth

  • amazing album amazing song
