you know what, you can get reptile in a lock if you can get it right and you can basically not get hit ever. I pulled it off by blocking dodging and couter attacking him but I also got him like 3 hits he teleports if you time it right you can 3 hit when he appears again and rinse and repeat but you have to like be in the right spot in order to pull it off. otherwise he'll change back and start his change phases again.
