@Zabatsion but aren't we always following some gurus? politicians, teachers, club leaders, preachers, some of your friends and even your parents actually fulfill the same role often... these people simply chose a different guru... people in most societies are in such constellations... the ones who understand this, want to become the guru, of course...
Jayapataka is a kali-chela demon who tried to poison Srila Prabhupada! It never ceases to amaze me that so many people want to be cheated by rascals like him!
That 'guru' strikes me as being fake and falling very short of being someone who is free of struggle or in a state of any sort of enlightened bliss. Just my opinion! :)
Im Indian and a Hindu myself, but I just find this entire concept of Hare krishnas to be quite absurd.... But hey i respect them cause its their personal choice, they have freedom of religion and somehow its almost preferable than other theocratic religions where freedom is limited....
@Cryptorchild92 And how would you define yourself as "Hindu", my good sir? "Hindu" is a term introduced by the Moghul invaders because they couldn't pronounce the name of the Vedic civilisation. The Hare Krishna movement follows 'Hinduism' in its PUREST form. They abstain from meat, intoxication (inc. alcohol, tea & coffee, cigarettes), gambling and illicit sex, and spend their whole lives chanting the names of God and studying the Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam.
@Cryptorchild92 Ok, well why don't you take that 'life' of yours and actually do some research into the Hare Krishnas, and your own conception of what 'Hinduism' is, before making ignorant comments like that. People like you give Hinduism a bad name.
@gdas220991 How am I giving Hinduism a bad name anyway?... i'm just living my life, studying, working, being a part of a functional society, being with my family and friends, struggling, succeeding .. Just because i dont lock myself up in a room chanting hare krishna all day long, doesnt make me any worse of a person, or any worse a Hindu... I never insulted hare krishna, but merely commented how the very concept is absurd... I believe in god as a hindu, and for me, i believe that is enough..
@Cryptorchild92 What about the very concept is absurd? "Hindus" follow Bhagavad Gita, the Hare Krishnas follow Bhagavad Gita. 'Hindus' worship Visnu/Krsna, the Hare Krishnas worship Visnu/Krsna. Do some research, man! Open your mind a little bit. So ignorant.
ahhhh... i'm so glad to be an atheist, a skeptic, a cynic, an anarchist, and a misanthropic humanist. come at me with a doctrine to save my soul i'll cram it up your ass.
I was a Krishna devotee once. And I liked Jayapataka, I found his presence and example very inspiring. But I wasn't able to commit to it long-term. Too many doubts regarding the philosophy. Still, I learned alot both from the Iskcon movement, and from teachers such as Jayapataka. I still can't help liking his gentle nature and sense of humour about things. And his devotion to God.
Jayapataka (aka Gordon John Erdman II) seems like a nice enough guy, and according to the Wiki page he was a dedicated follower of the founder, who combined the hard work of organizing, building temples, printing books, teaching agriculture to the locals, leading pilgrimages and of course, preaching. A true guru.
However, this kind of devotion that surrounds him is unnatural and unhealthy, and caused many of his colleagues to go off the rails into corruption.

Hari Krishnas are the result. Hinduism is the most illogical and stupid religion going. Imagine that, worshipping animals LOL.
@AssSprinkle I dont believe in hare krishna theory, But you calling Hinduism illogical and stupid is a FAILURE on your part... And we've had better effects on man then other theocratic religions who have led to bloodshed, fundamentalism and hatred...
The funny thing is that prayer did nothing to help him, and he didn't have the common sense to realise obesity is more likely to give you a stroke... so he certainly wasn't enlightened by any means.
what he meant by not wanting them to touch his feet because it projects their vibrations on him was that if he is looked upon as the source of holiness, then they won't associate it with the real thing.
Why must one human consider themself greater than another. Aren't we all made of the same stuff. We are all as good and bad as each other. Some people just have their flaws in check more, but this does not make them greater just easier.
This man does not have the aura of a true guru, and he is clearly misrepresenting Krishna's teachings. All things to do with Krishna are transcendental (please understand the Hare Krishna movement is Vaisnava Hinduism and was spread to the West by Prabhupada), yet this man is teaching that all things to do with him are transcendental. It is true a GENUINE guru should be respected and followed as God, but that does not involve worshipping the guru himself.
@mamoodh This guru was gravely attacked a number of years ago (I t hink it was in the 90s) in an airport in Spain by a disturbed person. After recovering in the hospital, his weight increased and he has stayed heavy.
@mamoodh Exactly mamoodh. A true guru is a vegetarian (I'm not preaching to you, I'm not a vegetarian myself), that's said in the Vedas, the ancient Hindu books of knowledge, and is verified in the later Vedanta texts. To be overweight and a vegetarian is quite the feat. This "guru" is a fraud.
I was in the hare krishnas once.gurus are like doctors, most of them are rubbish, but there are some good ones.I don,t know this guru that well but I am pretty sure there are no scandals attached to him.It is an individuals choice if they want to follow him,and blind following of a guru is never encouraged.Hindus, and the hare krishnas which is a hindu branch do actually have a philosophy.
@selfsenter I think if we know the deepest meaning of putting your master in a high profile is not the reason that your making him as a King like an ordinary understanding of a King. Base on the vaisnavas (a pure soul or pure devotee) etiquette. Giving your whole life to your master is the only way that you will gain his mercy and advance in spiritual platform. Forgive my words
@selfsenter We have to understand that obeying the master doesn't mean you are replacing the position of the Supreme God to him which is not. The reason why the master should be obey or be given a full respect because he is a representative of God. This is not an act of idolatry, but because of your love you offer your heart to him. The spiritual master is like your father in your home that he's the one who cultivates you until you become mature enough and capable to live independently. PEACE.
@selfsenter Also, We have to be careful because there's a lot of spiritual master that is fake. So, we have to be careful by choosing the right one. If you are a master... all the prestige was given to you by your devotee, but because of that many fake spiritual master arises and many followers are misled. I pity those who are true follower who aim for Spiritual advancement who take shelter to a non-representative of GOD.
Those people are so brainwashed. They think that lard-ass is the chosen one or something?
That American Guru knows he doesn't have a connection with "god" he just stays there and enjoys the life of a God. He went, and found stupidity, so he made use of the stupid people.
@bluegama500 everything you just said...was everything i was thinking...like how stupid can people get...and how naive can people get in the fact that they are complete losers...following a fatass wanna be...i would slap the shit outta him...thats the first thing that came to mind..
i used to volunteer at an ashram in exchange for food because i had lost my job, i always knew that the krishnas were a friendly but a weird, but this shit is just wrong.
It looks crazy but look how peaceful they are. They're not bombing people or fucking choirboys. Many world religions could benefit from their example.
@ch1mpanzeethat its only christianity, judaism and islam that cant get along really, most other religions are peacefull.. the shame is that all these religions are SUPPOSED to advocate peace and love for all neightbours.. people are stupid
I don't believe in hypnosis. I believe in gullibility and a non-education.
Yeah sure, don't eat meat (starvation), don't have sex (repression, which leads to tingles up the spine and holding in wee), don't gamble (give your money to me instead, and repeat something short endlessly to hyperventilate with other people. Carry that lot on for some time and combine it with religion and study of only one book, and you have a gauranteed high. Let's not forget, God is satchitananda.
@klindred actualy tension from sex can be released by doing hard workouts, like building or farming. it's much more productive , but i guess not pleasurable. :)
@klindred Also, dont be a fool. Eating only vegetables will DEFINITELY not lead you to starvation. Vegetables ,cereal and stuff like beans can provide EVERYTHING that body needs, including high amounts of protein(not as high as meat, but meat has many other variants that makes it unhealthy, such as toxins and bad fat) , Vitamins, aminoacids, and lots of other minerals and trace elements.
In part he´s been worship because he is a white guy on a third world country land. It started with colonialism and Its still prevelant in this days in many third world countries. up to this days they teach their children than white people are better than everybody else.
Dear Panamanubian, You may be off target on that, his preaching is from the original Veda's of Pre-Historic India. In actuality, all races originate from one source, each with specific karma. Basically we 're all suffering in one mode or the other. People are human beings first, then advancement begins.
@chaslind Dear Chaslind, I live in Panama at the moment, I live in a third world country that still suffers from colonialmentality, because; eveng dough, we separated from Spain, more than a 100 years ago, we never created a mentality; nor a culture aside from the ones of the colonizers,
@panamanubian : I agree that colonization is the process introduced by the Christians who believed they ruled the world. Jayapataka swami is not Christian, and he does not agree with colonization.
@chaslind In Panama if you are a white person just like this guy, Gordon, you get worship exactly the same way, people would look at him as superior, and as more atractive, and eveng as more intelligent for the fact that he is white just like the colonizers, Peace.
@chaslind This guy went to India, and realized that people there worshiped him for the fact that he is white, he realized that, that was not going to happen in the United States, for in his native country, he is just a white fat guy, who was not going to impress nobody, so he decided to stay there where he is look and treated like a God by people with low self esteem.
@panamanubian : People do not worship him because he is white. Actually he had a difficult time in India in the beginning because many Indians were suspicious of white people who preached Indian religion. And in fact people do not worship him at all. They pay respect because he is preaching the message of the Vedic scriptures and ultimately the word of Krishna (Bhagavad Gita)
@panamanubian : These people have a very high self esteem because they understand that they are the servants of Lord Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. They also understand that they are not this body, but are in fact spirit soul, so don't worry about their self esteem, instead worry about your own spiritual advancement. Please read the Bhagavad Gita translated and commented by Srila Bhaktivedanta swami.
@amit1947 you remind me off my self, when I was religious and used to be told by others that I was being used, I used to fight back and defend the people I was worshiping, sorry "helping" they did help me ass a matter of fact, they helped me to spend my credit card and got me in financial trouble. when I look back I look at those days, as the dark period off my life when I used to fallow religios leaders and get all exited with then, I overcome, Jesus has take me a long way away from them.
@panamanubian : Do you really follow in the steps on Jesus? You were taken advantage of, unfortunately, because you were ignorant like most people are. There are the cheaters and the cheated. Its pretty obvious when people start asking for your credit card...Also only God and his true devotees should be worshiped. If someone is claiming to be God conscious but is clearly not, then they are a cheat, and should be physically punished, it is grave crime.
@amit1947 One day you are going to look back, and you are going to kick yourself in the ass, and ask yourself "what the fuck was I thinking," the sooner you get away from that mess the sooner you´re going to be able to get your life back.
@panamanubian : No, I'll be kicking myself when I start posting videos about Little Wayne and Lenny Kravitz as you have. Krishna is the Name, Haribol, speak the name of the Lord.
@amit1947 I´m glad to see a lot of white people following him, It helps to fight the stereotype that black people are stupid, and it proves that people turn stupid when their selfesteem had been hurt, I hope that you are not this huy "Gordon" from L.A. answering to me, because trust me you not getting a knickel for any Frenchfrise from me.
@StanPomeray : A guru's body isn't really important. What is important is the knowledge he has. In this case, Jayapataka swami, born Gordon, has this knowledge of God so he instructs it to others. He also has a guru, named Bhaktivedanta swami, and his guru had a guru, etc. You see this is religious tradition dating back thousands of years.
@amit1947 come on dont hide the facts. iskon had 12 gurus at the begnining after ac bhaktivedanta swami nearly all have fallen down. so why should people keep their faith in them? its the same as how ac bhaktivendanta swami said. christianity failed its people, they didnt follow jesus. same rules apply to everyone. we are al equal spirit souls so if we can judge the christians we should judge ourselves in an equal way
@krish108 : I agree that those who call themselves gurus, where ever they are to be found, must meet the strict criteria of spiritual life with all the various rules and regulations. If someone in such a position fails, then they can no longer be looked at for guidance and should be punished depending on the degree of fall down.
Guru sounds like a quack. Bowing and touching feet gives overloaded vibrations my ass. It is a sign of immense respect (usually reserved towards ones elders or parents). Often the recipient would stop the person because they do not feel worthy of such an honour and they do not want the other person to feel inferior or lower but acknowledged as an equal.
God does not discrimnate against its beings, if everything is his creation. How can god not love everything he created.
In Hindu culture, the GURU gets the same position as god. You must follow the path shown by your chosen GURU. So the choice is yours. Your parents are in same position as God and then the GURU.
You might just say that the person above is just a man.
@TheTastyPineapple : The type of behavior you suggest is punishable by death. So you could try to be a Guru and take advantage of female followers, but you should be killed for it.
Haribol! Lovers of God who is Lord Krishna! He is the Supreme Person! Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare

I was in the hare krishnas once.gurus are like doctors, most of them are rubbish, but there are some good ones.I don,t know this guru that well but I am pretty sure there are no scandals attached to him.It is an individuals choice if they want to follow him,and blind following of a guru is never encouraged.Hindus, and the hare krishnas which is a hindu branch do actually have a philosophy.

any religion that glorifies a single human and treats him as king is .. questionable
selfsenter 1 year ago 2
@selfsenter I think if we know the deepest meaning of putting your master in a high profile is not the reason that your making him as a King like an ordinary understanding of a King. Base on the vaisnavas (a pure soul or pure devotee) etiquette. Giving your whole life to your master is the only way that you will gain his mercy and advance in spiritual platform. Forgive my words
Notdevotee 1 year ago
@Notdevotee
Why devote your whole life to a master and not the intended god?
A dude is following him around holding an umbrella... Whats the spiritual meaning behind that
Mercy should be granted by the being you worship not a human
One recognizes his/her spiritual advancement through actions. good deeds and being a better person towards other people.
If i belong to a religion and follow its teachings my spiritual platform rises by default without the need of another human granting me that rank
selfsenter 1 year ago
@selfsenter We have to understand that obeying the master doesn't mean you are replacing the position of the Supreme God to him which is not. The reason why the master should be obey or be given a full respect because he is a representative of God. This is not an act of idolatry, but because of your love you offer your heart to him. The spiritual master is like your father in your home that he's the one who cultivates you until you become mature enough and capable to live independently. PEACE.
Notdevotee 1 year ago
@selfsenter Also, We have to be careful because there's a lot of spiritual master that is fake. So, we have to be careful by choosing the right one. If you are a master... all the prestige was given to you by your devotee, but because of that many fake spiritual master arises and many followers are misled. I pity those who are true follower who aim for Spiritual advancement who take shelter to a non-representative of GOD.

Let's not forget, God is satchitananda.
klindred 1 year ago
@klindred actualy tension from sex can be released by doing hard workouts, like building or farming. it's much more productive , but i guess not pleasurable. :)
astalavisitor 1 year ago
@klindred Also, dont be a fool. Eating only vegetables will DEFINITELY not lead you to starvation. Vegetables ,cereal and stuff like beans can provide EVERYTHING that body needs, including high amounts of protein(not as high as meat, but meat has many other variants that makes it unhealthy, such as toxins and bad fat) , Vitamins, aminoacids, and lots of other minerals and trace elements.
Your statement is ridicously stupid.

In part he´s been worship because he is a white guy on a third world country land. It started with colonialism and Its still prevelant in this days in many third world countries. up to this days they teach their children than white people are better than everybody else.
panamanubian 1 year ago
Dear Panamanubian, You may be off target on that, his preaching is from the original Veda's of Pre-Historic India. In actuality, all races originate from one source, each with specific karma. Basically we 're all suffering in one mode or the other. People are human beings first, then advancement begins.
peace, cchas
chaslind 1 year ago
@chaslind Dear Chaslind, I live in Panama at the moment, I live in a third world country that still suffers from colonialmentality, because; eveng dough, we separated from Spain, more than a 100 years ago, we never created a mentality; nor a culture aside from the ones of the colonizers,
panamanubian 1 year ago
@panamanubian : I agree that colonization is the process introduced by the Christians who believed they ruled the world. Jayapataka swami is not Christian, and he does not agree with colonization.
amit1947 1 year ago
@chaslind In Panama if you are a white person just like this guy, Gordon, you get worship exactly the same way, people would look at him as superior, and as more atractive, and eveng as more intelligent for the fact that he is white just like the colonizers, Peace.
panamanubian 1 year ago
@chaslind This guy went to India, and realized that people there worshiped him for the fact that he is white, he realized that, that was not going to happen in the United States, for in his native country, he is just a white fat guy, who was not going to impress nobody, so he decided to stay there where he is look and treated like a God by people with low self esteem.
panamanubian 1 year ago
@panamanubian : People do not worship him because he is white. Actually he had a difficult time in India in the beginning because many Indians were suspicious of white people who preached Indian religion. And in fact people do not worship him at all. They pay respect because he is preaching the message of the Vedic scriptures and ultimately the word of Krishna (Bhagavad Gita)
amit1947 1 year ago
@panamanubian : These people have a very high self esteem because they understand that they are the servants of Lord Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. They also understand that they are not this body, but are in fact spirit soul, so don't worry about their self esteem, instead worry about your own spiritual advancement. Please read the Bhagavad Gita translated and commented by Srila Bhaktivedanta swami.
amit1947 1 year ago
@amit1947 you remind me off my self, when I was religious and used to be told by others that I was being used, I used to fight back and defend the people I was worshiping, sorry "helping" they did help me ass a matter of fact, they helped me to spend my credit card and got me in financial trouble. when I look back I look at those days, as the dark period off my life when I used to fallow religios leaders and get all exited with then, I overcome, Jesus has take me a long way away from them.
panamanubian 1 year ago
@panamanubian : Do you really follow in the steps on Jesus? You were taken advantage of, unfortunately, because you were ignorant like most people are. There are the cheaters and the cheated. Its pretty obvious when people start asking for your credit card...Also only God and his true devotees should be worshiped. If someone is claiming to be God conscious but is clearly not, then they are a cheat, and should be physically punished, it is grave crime.
amit1947 1 year ago
@amit1947 One day you are going to look back, and you are going to kick yourself in the ass, and ask yourself "what the fuck was I thinking," the sooner you get away from that mess the sooner you´re going to be able to get your life back.
In Jesus name, Amen.
panamanubian 1 year ago
@panamanubian : No, I'll be kicking myself when I start posting videos about Little Wayne and Lenny Kravitz as you have. Krishna is the Name, Haribol, speak the name of the Lord.
amit1947 1 year ago
@amit1947 I´m glad to see a lot of white people following him, It helps to fight the stereotype that black people are stupid, and it proves that people turn stupid when their selfesteem had been hurt, I hope that you are not this huy "Gordon" from L.A. answering to me, because trust me you not getting a knickel for any Frenchfrise from me.

"The spiritual master brings you closer to God......"
Hmmm....even if the spiritual master is some fat guy called Gordon? LOL
StanPomeray 1 year ago
@StanPomeray : A guru's body isn't really important. What is important is the knowledge he has. In this case, Jayapataka swami, born Gordon, has this knowledge of God so he instructs it to others. He also has a guru, named Bhaktivedanta swami, and his guru had a guru, etc. You see this is religious tradition dating back thousands of years.
amit1947 1 year ago
@amit1947 come on dont hide the facts. iskon had 12 gurus at the begnining after ac bhaktivedanta swami nearly all have fallen down. so why should people keep their faith in them? its the same as how ac bhaktivendanta swami said. christianity failed its people, they didnt follow jesus. same rules apply to everyone. we are al equal spirit souls so if we can judge the christians we should judge ourselves in an equal way
krish108 1 year ago
