  • This film has two glaring homophobic ironies: 1) Lesbian kissing was shown but gay-male kissing was awkwardly avoided; 2) all the gay characters were stereotypes. HEY SWEDEN: Effeminacy and male homosexuality are NOT THE SAME THING. Most homosexual men are masculine and are repressed by gay stereotypes. Saying a man with a man is unmanly has the same effect as saying it's bad or evil--both oppress homosexual masculine men.

  • @androkyle "Lesbian kissing was shown but gay-male kissing was awkwardly avoided" - The reason why the character William avoided to kiss his boyfriend Lukas, if that is what you mean, is because William is not gay or in love with him.

If you're talking about the 07:50-lesbian kiss at the party - those extras are the only ones in the movie that actually are a couple in real life. That is why we let them kiss. It has nothing to do with the fact that they are lesbians instead of gay-males.

  • @androkyle We are absolutley NOT homophobes. Our thought with the movie was rather the opposite of homophobia. We did not mean to hurt or make fun of anyone by using stereotypes. I'm sorry.

Also sorry for my bad english. :)

  • @androkyle This film is clearly anti-homophobic and pro-diversity. The effeminacy and stereotypes in the film represents the masculine (and feminine) roles and stereotypes of the heterosexual men and women of today and society's common view of the relationship between sexualities. I find your interpretation shallow and unjust. It's high school with roles reversed: instead of super masculine jocks and feminine prom queens being the "cool kids" running the show, it's super feminine gay boys.

  • @WorldFarts Thank you so much for your comment. :) That is exactly our purpose with the movie - anti-homophobia and pro-diversity!

  • @MIKUT The American movie _Almost Normal_ had the exact same concept without heavy stereotypes back in the '90s. (Check out the trailer to the film.) Would you have "överdrivit" stereotypes about another group? It's clear you're oblivious to how the stereotypes play into stigmatizing (open) homosexuality. A boy who's no different from other boys except that he's gay will probably be discouraged by this clip. You unnecessarily soiled a worthwhile concept.
