Canon Digital IXUS 100 IS Quick Sound Test

This a great camera for recording concert or the like.

I have used it for recording several live-shows - even close to the pa the audio doesn't get really distorted. Check the channel of Two Two 79, my punkband.

We also record our rehearsal sessions with the same camera. The 2011 footage is made with this camera.

Hi, do you have any background noise when it is quiet. I hear this buzzing noise when there is not much sound.

@twigon The noise is probably from the computer which is really close.

Unfortunately not, I have just checked it. It just sounds like the 'engine' sound of the camera. If i am playing music or something, it doesn't really matter but when its quiet its pretty annoying.

@twigon Probably. I just checked some other videos that i have, and there is a little noise in the background but no so much. The videos from my old Nikon S500 camera are more noisier.

@RuDyyx I can second that. I have one myself and the camera itself does not produce any kind of noise while recording.

no and that's because canon have turned that option off just because of the noise the optical zoom maked while recording.

Yes, the sound is good, no distortion so far, check my other videos.

I think it should. Depends how close you are to the speakers.

A little grainy. You have to have good lighting.

how is the screen like? Is it soft when you touch it like other Canon camera's, or does it have a kinda hard screen protector?

hi mate, thinking of getting this camera.. do you think it would hold up well in clubs? taking videos with dark flashy lights with ridiculously powerful soundsystems? would appreciate your opinion. thanks.

Camera is quite good. Good pictures, video and the audio is quite good too but I still have to try it in the club to see how it can handle the sound.

If you would really want good audio quality, then I would recommend buying separate pocket digital audio recorder but then you have to sinc video and audio in the computer.

Or you can buy a camera with the external microphone jack and good mic.

Thanx. I was just testing how this camera handle the sound if I pump up the volume a bit. Sounds way better then my old digital camera.
