  • @cancerman50, @MrChaos010 -- If they did take out Captain EO/HISTA and put in a movie of the original ride, they could even do so and add 3D effects so as to utilize all the features built in to the theater. At least it would mean seeing the original ride again. Disney's already doing it with their feature films so why not a mere film of a beloved attraction?

  • Wow... I just watched this for the first time and was completely blown away. Why did they change this attraction? This makes me so sad... I never got to ride this version and I am envious of those that did. If any Imagineers read this, please attempt to bring this back... :(

  • I think whoever designed Spyro the dragon got there ideas from Figment here. In fact someone should do a crossover with both of them. They're so cute!

  • @whitewolf1310 How about Spike from My Little Pony?

  • @brb1006 Good point!

  • It just blows my mind that they took out such a beautiful attraction and replaced it with a boring unimaginative ride through. But enough people complained,

That they decided to bring Figment back. But that's not enough. The management needs to understand that they f$&@ed up and bring back this wonderful attraction like they did EO. Yes I am 14. But im a huge Disney fan and I know quality when I see it. So to all who wants to see this attraction back. Write, e-mail, phone, do anything to

  • @96gamerdude probabply need what happened at the tiki room to get any results.

  • You can count on Martin Smith for a good video!

  • hey dragonrider1227 they should build a second 3d thearter next to the imagination pavillion and put a 3d rie though of the original jpurney into imagiantion for those who never have riden it before!

  • @MrChaos010 Oh that is such a good idea! Disney should have a suggestion box in cyber space.

  • @cancerman50 i agree but on problem iread online that if they change anything about the imagination pavillion again that they would tear it down

  • @MrChaos010 No, Mr.Chaos010 mentioned an additional theater and the movie shown there would show maybe this vid of what the orignal ride was like. It wouldn't be a remodel. It would be an addition. They were able to add Soaring without tearing down The Land. And a movie theater is simpiler then a ride.

  • @cancerman50 there is only one way they could put it with out changing anything about the pavillion is to remove captain eo or what ever is in there right now and then put the idea i talked about

  • hey dragonrider1227 disney should make a cartoon called the adventures of figment.

  • hey dragonrider1227 did u ever figment walking around outside of the imagination pavillion. i wish i could've they don't have figment walking around anymore

  • hey dragonrider1227 u remeber the old image woks well in the current version the old image works is abanded but people can still go up there to look around but u can't do anything up there. i wish i could've went though the rainbow tunnel.

  • hey dragonrider1227 did u know that figment has his own fan site just type in figment and click where it says welcome to figment's imagination

  • hey dragon1227 did u know that the orginal ride opened in 1983 on march 5th which makes figment 28 years old

  • @MrChaos010 no, I didn't. That's cool to know

  • @MrChaos010 dude-this ride brings back so many good memories-they need to bring this back!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WOW WOW WOW. I work at Image now, and I've only heard what seem like fairy tales about how great the original was and how packed the Imagination Pavilion used to be. I WISH I could've seen it. I actually wish it were still like this. I can't believe my location used to be this awesome!

  • hey Dragonrider1227 have u ever riden this version before if so what was it like

cause i've only been on the current version. oh and figment rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MrChaos010 The only time I rode it was back in 1990. I was six back then and don't remember it very well but I remember loving it. It was easily my favorite ride in EPCOT. I fondly remember the old imageworks as well. Loved it! I've often said I could take or leave the ride as it is now but I really really really miss the old imageworks D:

  • @Dragonrider1227 well u know it's still up there just it's not operational when i went to epcot for my senior trip me and two of my teachers went up there to see what was up there and one of my teachers siad they've been on the oringinal and been to the oringinal imageworks

  • I've experienced all 3 versions and I think that the main thing that killed the 2nd one was that it was so drastically different from the 1st. When you replace a fun, whimsical ride with a cold, eerie one; it's a shock to the senses. It's one thing to "tweak" an attraction but another to gut it and strip it of it's soul. The current version is OK but the original was clearly the best.

  • I'm thinking that both the upstairs and downstairs Imageworks should be retooled as "The New Imageworks".

  • @Hemley1 great idea

  • Consider the oldest existing attractions in the Disney parks, and what is probably one of the main reasons for such longevity---a wealth of detail, far more than can be seen or heard in one,or several rides.

This ride had that. The current JIYI does NOT.I remember seeing lots of empty space between the sparsely-decorated sets.

Worse still,Figment has been transformed from a childlike protege' to an annoying pest.

  • This ride WAS so creative, fun, and seamless. Classic Disney! I miss it all! Thank you for the great video :)

  • brb1006 the old Imagineworks was great and all. Now, they took out the second floor and reduced it to thinking about TOMORROW not your IMAGINATION! The new ride talks about the five scenses and how we use them.

  • This looks like it was a wonderful ride. Pretty to look at and I really like the theme music.

Too bad the new one is so bland. For a ride about imagination, it's not very imaginative. So much wasted showroom space...

  • I like the new version better. This one just seems creepy with the bearded guy everywhere. They completley took the upstairs out of the picture.

  • @GreekFood08 What about the old Imagineworks! :(

  • @GreekFood08 You're a retard

  • @jugrox1 Well, I'm just saying that I like the new version better! We all have opinions about certain things.

  • This ride was my one little spark! I haven't realized until now how inspirational this ride was for me when I was so young. I wanted to sing and perform, and just this week I was accepted with a scholarship to the CSU Fullerton music program for voice. I'm gonna be a music major :P

  • @wiLemochick Congratulations! :-))

  • @Floridafanatic28 Thanks! :D

  • What a beautiful ride. Such a shame that it was replaced with such crap!

  • This really brings me back. This was my favorite ride at Disney when I was young. I was not happy when they changed it. Thanks for posting posting this :)

  • Where did you find such clean and clear audio of the entire ride (especially the ending scene)?

  • Hey Dragonrider1227 do you think The Sherman Brothers did a good job with the ride's music?

  • @TwilightLink77 I think so

  • @Dragonrider1227 you know who they are right the ones that wrote Its A Small World and this ride's song One Little Spark.

  • @TwilightLink77 Oh Yeah. I know the Sherman Bros. :D I believe they wrote a lot of music during the classic Walt era

  • @Dragonrider1227 They still write music now.

  • @Dragonrider1227 Do you know where and if the old music from this attraction (and all the other attractions at Epcot for that matter) is available?

  • @Dragonrider1227 Yeah so what do you think The Sherman Brothers did with this ride's music?

  • @TwilightLink77 I think they did good :D

  • What I miss was the Image Works. All these really great stations for kids to play with? Now a stupid flash game, motion detector music, and the drums you jump on are all that remains. What happened to the upstairs? Is it offices or a new corporate conference centre?

  • @morgoid agreed. I can actually take or leave the new ride but the new Image Works SUCKS!! I think the upstairs area has remained untouched since it closed. I think they've only removed some TV screens but everything else is still sitting there shut down

  • @morgoid no i'ts still up there when i wnet to epcot last year for my high school senior trip i me and a couple of friends and teachers went up there to see what was up there and on of my teachers siad that it was the old image works of the original journey into imagination.

  • Comment removed

  • I sure wish i cold have went to ride the original journey into imagination.

  • I miss this version of JII so much and the music during this section is pure old school Epcot music.

  • Excellent videos the best ones I have ever seen of this attraction my favorite one of them all.

  • 3:20 Figment is dress up as Smee lol.

  • This is the first time I've seen the original version...now I see why people HATE the newer versions. This was an amazing attraction. What's there now sucks in comparison. I can't believe I missed riding this, Horizons, and the original Universe of Energy

  • I wasn't even alive in 1990...I recall visiting this ride as a toddler, though...The replacement is lamentable.

  • Wait was this where the Ellen's adventure thing is now? I was always wondering why it was overly large...

  • @huzzahandhello No, Ellen is at Universe of Energy.

  • @Dragonrider1227 Yeah but was the Universe of Energy used for this ride beforehand? Cause this seems to be GIANT and so does the Universe of Energy thing and I doubt that giant golf-ball looking thing used to house this amazing ride.

  • @huzzahandhello

No Universe of Energy has always been it's own separate building and I believe was still in use even while this ride was going

  • @Dragonrider1227 Sorry, I was just so determined in what I thought it was. >< Thanks

  • it was not used for universe of energy that was a totally different building

  • @huzzahandhello This was where ImageWorks and the new shitty ride are now.

  • Thank you for posting this. I have been looking for a video of this attraction for a long time. This is the best one I have ever seen. Great job!

  • you know, i just had this CRAZY idea! if the very first imagination ride was the one we had today with "Dr. Nigel Channing", then they replaced it with this version of dreamfinder, do you think you would love Dr. Nigel more than Dreamfinder because it was a "classic"? just a thought...

  • @funspot202

You know, I wondered that myself. I also wondered that with the new Pooh Ride that replaced Toad. If the Pooh ride that was there today was first and got replaced with Toad, would people say Pooh was a classic?

  • @Dragonrider1227 i think pooh was already a classic before his ride came in bahaha ;p

  • @funspot202

Yes, far more than Toad ever was ;p but have you heard people complain about Mr. Toad getting removed? They act like Jesus' birthplace got torn down for a parking lot

  • @Dragonrider1227 did you hear about a new star wars expansioon land in hollywood studios? includes an eatery, star tours II, and replacing indiana jones with a star wars stunt showw =] no more indiana jones deaths, this time we can blame it on star wars :p

  • @funspot202

I did hear that they're expanding Star Wars. I didn't know we were getting a Star Wars stunt show though. That sounds pretty cool, though I'd personally prefer the Indiana Jones ride in Disneyland or something similar

  • there going to take of the indiana jones stunt show for the indiana jones ride like disney land there is no star wars stunt show

  • @skullbasher115 So no more stunt shows? When I was back in this last summer almost everything had change in some way. Why did they change MGM studios to Hollywood land or something like that?

  • @Hallamfoebell

Corporate things. I learned that Disney started wanting to buy MGM at the time, not just use their name and images at the park. It's also a copyright issue. So unfortunatly, they HAD to change the name of the theme park from Disney MGM Studios to Disney's Hollywood Studios. Nowadays, I feel like when it says the word Studios in the name of the park reguardless, That`s where you REALLY have to use your imagination.

    - Dwight

  • @djthereplay yeah your right and they have no imagination. since they would have made Mary Poppins instead of buying the rights to her

  • @Hallamfoebell

Yes, but here's the thing ..... When I said that Today, You have to REALLY use your imagination when it says the word " Studios " in the Name of the park, Back in the old Disney-MGM Days, they used to actually make films and TV Shows at the park. Now, they don`t even do that anymore. It's become Studios In Name Only.

    - Dwight

  • @djthereplay Yeah but I think the studios just didnt make really good shows I mean look what happened with MIckey Mouse club? Welcome Freshman etc etc Salute your shorts. THey all disappered. The alumni are gone and the majority of them are not successful. Who remember Walter Patterson and Pinsky and Sponge?

  • @djthereplay Yeah but I think the studios just didnt make really good shows I mean look what happened with MIckey Mouse club? Welcome Freshman etc etc Salute your shorts. THey all disappered. The alumni are gone and the majority of them are not successful. Who remember Walter Patterson and Pinsky and Sponge? Now everything is about money.

  • @Hallamfoebell

I do. " Camp Anawanna ." You mention the show, and if I`ve seen it before, The Theme song plays in my head like there is no tomorrow. My question be, who in the future will remember Walter Paterson, Pinsky, and Spunge, and Donkey Lips, ZZ Ziff, Kevin " Ug" Lee, Dr. Con, Bobby Budnick, Merv, Alex, Tara, Pete & Pete, Ellen, etc. etc. Now everything is about money ...... We know this.

    - Dwight

  • @djthereplay Nobody and its sad becuase they could have the shows on dvd. Your forgetting aria ash and Nicholas Caruso. Plus its a different world now. Or lippman! HAHA! God I wonder where they all ended up? If your on facebook go type in Timothy eyester. Donkey lips have gotten some jobs. His working Danny Cooksey is doing voice over work and isnt working as much. Erik Macarthur is a director and working behind the scenes Venus De Milo is working just not as big as her younger days

  • @Hallamfoebell

I had NO Idea about what you have just told me in your post. Thanks for the heads up. Ah, I miss the good old days of entertainment.

    - Dwight

  • there going to get rid of the indiana jones stunt show for the indiana jones ride like in disney california

  • @skullbasher115 DO U MEAN THEY ARE BUILDING AN INDIANA JONES ADVENTURE RIDE IN FLORIDA?!? IF THEY ARE I CAN'T WAIT TO GO ON IT THE ONE IN DISNEYLAND LOOKS AWESOME!!!

  • @DisneyfanBeckers WDW already has DINOSAUR, which has the same cars and same layout. Just different theming. It would make no sense to put another copy of the ride in the resort.

  • @funspot202 omg can we expect a lightsaber accident?

  • I wouldn't mind if they redo this attraction, so long as a new version would be the same caliber as the old one. The problem with the new version, imho is not the lack of Dreamfinder, but the lack of detail and animation in the ride. There are parts that are so sparse! I think if the second version had had the level of creativity and intricacy as the old one, people would have liked it, Figment or no Figment.

  • Well said!! The new version is not only undetailed and sparse, but basically a slap in the face.

  • Thank you so much :') I only saw this once and I barely remember it, but this brought back loads of memories. Where did you get the music from?

  • <3 Fantastic. Thank you!

  • Comment removed

  • 5:24-5:34: Aah, I remember as a kid I loved jumping/dancing on those colored tiles in that dark room of ImageWorks. That brings back nice memories!

  • I agree that the original version was by far the best. Talk about a total flight of fancy! Just so innocent and magical. The new one seems lacking by comparison. I don't know how they decided to base the ride on the five senses despite the glaring issue that two of them (touch and taste) would not be possible in a ride setting. Figment comes across as a naughty annoyance. And who wants to get blasted with skunk smell?

I'd give anything for that origami carousel again...

  • I love the new version. But I do think Image works could use a little work. Is there even an upstairs to it anymore?

  • Yes. The upstairs is still there and pretty much just as it was in the day except everything is turned off and I think the screens have been removed

  • Why don't they use it anymore?

  • no, I have the 25th anniversery disc and everything is how it was, everything the same, but yes, everything is turned off, but nothing was removed

  • That seems like a bad idea. if they have space they should use it. Just like the wonder's of life paviliion

  • I wouldn't mind if they just redid the ride again but with Dreamfinder and Figment and have the imageworks upstairs again and have the gift shop and what else they did downstairs, they are not thinking straight with this ride right now, something will happen to the ride in the next short years, who knows they could be planning something right now, Wonders of Life is gutted now, it will be demolished and turned into something else, or it will just stay like that, they will do something with it

  • I would not mind if they just redid the whole thing again, with the imageworkd upstairs and the gift shop and anything else they did downstairs, i hope they put Figment AND Dreamfinder back in if they are going to make a new one, I am hoping there will a rehab looking like the original one, who knows they could be planning a new one right now....who knows what they will do to the wonder's of life.

  • I love the new version, but maybe seeing eric idle, figment, and dream finder all together could be a good idea. Still have the huge tv screens and the labs, but add dreamfinder helping find dreams and all of that. lol I'm not an imagineer so i can't like describe, but having all 3 together could be a good idea. I just came back from disney 2 weeks ago and i did notice that they were doing some work on imageworks, but it was downstairs to your right at the entrance of Imageworks. so who knows.

  • I saw the work when I went there too, I went on June 2nd, and there was work going on

  • Yeah i went june 19 and i saw it. it sucks about WOL. I atleast hope they demolish it so they can put something in its place. cause all it's used for is conventions in EPCOT

  • I hope they just bring back the old ride and not get rid of it. I love Figment.

  • the stairs to upstairs is in the gift shop, but it is blocked off

  • Great ride, great video--thank you!

  • Wow, I seriously haven't seen this since I was 4....I can definately see how this ride took lots of maintainence. Wow, talk about nostalgia

  • This was my6 fave ride in all of Disney World! Thanks so much for posting this.

  • My favorite dark ride attraction...This was top-notch Imagineering: Perfect character design, perfect room concepts, perfect atmosphere, perfect everything. Way to leave it to the newer Imagineers to f*ck up an amazing classic. It's like taking out Space Mountain and putting up a kidie coaster.

  • one thing i noticed, the screens back then were projection, now they are LCD Graphic Screens, well, the Que line videos in the 2000 ride were LCD also

think of the screens that are used in times square and the main street strip at Las Vegas.

  • Thank you for this wonderful video. Journey into Imagination was always one of my favorites at EPCOT. Great editing and sound. Thanks!

  • Who did the voice of Figment? It sounds like Billy Barty

  • I believe it was

  • Yep, it was Billy Barty.

  • (see comment below to understand this one)

Just had a thought...here is the phone number from the letter I was given to call and discuss the matter further. Okay y'all, start calling the Mouse! Be polite; you catch more flies with honey than vinegar, right?

    407-560-3355

  • I am in Orlando now; I was at Epcot today for a family trip (I'm 26). I can't begin to tell you the euphoric memories I have of our family trips to Epcot. Even back then as a 7 year old, I realized that Figment & the DreamFinder were the keynote to my 'imaginative' magical vacation to playland. I went on the ride today, I HATED it. Then I watched the classic here; it all came back to me. I won't give up until this atrocity is restored to it's beautiful state of creative childhood dreaming.

  • Sick'em!!!! The fact is Epcot has changed this ride three times since the original; the last being 2008 (the ending with a bit of the original song). They keep trying to appease the fans without replacing it. The first change came because of a massive boycott of WDW and Kodak. I really think if people write and call we can get it changed back. It used to be the #1 ride, and now you can walk right on it most of the time. Angry fans boycott and don't spend money at WDW. Disney understands money.

  • In fairness to Kodak, they fought not to change the ride. WDW forced them in order to keep their sponsorship & not switch to Fugi Film. THe ride was changed because WDW said the upkeep cost too much. It couldn't cost more than gutting and changing the ride three times, right? I'm with you firefish45!

  • @firefish45 it may be mostly be restored, because the ride when i went last week was pretty lame and a cast member told me kodak left the ride sponsorship when i asked about the closed part of imageworks. there has been a rumor on the internet that they would refurb it to be more like the original. one of the dreamcatcher ships is in mouse gear (there were 2 on a turntable in the ride, go to Walt Dated World .com) I can't wait till they release new plans for the ride, but I'll still miss today's

  • @firefish45 How did the imagaination help with your overall life? the only thing constant is change.

  • @firefish45 How did the imagaination help with your overall life? the only thing constant is change. after you learn about your imagination you realize Disney doesnt want you to work for them!

  • I think it's terrible that they're depriving the magic that this exhibit once had. Whomever is responsible for this 1999 change should rot and know that you've destroyed any hopes for it to bring light to other children's childhood memories in 20 years. I am personally taking it upon myself to find the person responsible and make someone do something about this. That's how much this meant to me. As soon as I'm back in NY,I'm looking for my Figment piggy bank. I miss him; it's been almost 20 yrs.

  • @firefish45 Kodak is responsible. They agreed to make the change to today's version when Disney threatened to switch to Fujifilm because of the failure of the second version. But Good news: Kodak ended sponsorship with the ride this year! the Kodak part of Imageworks was closed when I was there, and a cast member told me Kodak was no longer affilated with the building. Now Disney can do what they want with the ride, like when Fedex stopped sponsoring Space Mountain. The ride is now more awesome!

  • @firefish45 That'd be Tom Fitzgerald, and he's still at Imagineering!

  • Oh I miss this ride! I miss ImageWorks! The new ride is inferior and lame, and no more play room! I was so upset about the change I finally, 3 weeks ago, wrote a letter to the President of WDW Resot, Epcot and Kodak requesting the original ride be returned. I just received a letter from Meg Croften (Pres of WDW Resort) back that requesedt that I phone her to discuss it further??? Perhaps, we should start a campaign y'all. Poer to the people!

  • Actually it would not be a big problem to restart the original Works because they did not destroy it it still upstairs. How do i know is aw pictures and rad an article about it.

  • sorry i meant read

  • I didn't know that! Let's go bust the lock on the door and have a play-date! ROTFL

Seriously, reopening the upstairs would be a GREAT start!

  • Yeah! And Disney just needs fix it up!

  • That would be fun tough that i never went WDW but im a big Disney fan.

  • Ladies n' gemtlemen, please a standing ovation for Martin Smith and Dragonrider. Greaaat video!

  • My god. THANK YOU. For years I've been bothered by a memory of my early childhood where I went to EPCOT and played in pitch black room lit up only by random colorful shapes on the walls and floor that lit up as I stepped on them. Whenever I ask friends of mine if they remember the same ride they tell me they don't remember such a thing...but now I know that it was indeed the Imageworks thanks to the footage at 5:30. Hopefully they'll reopen the old one.

  • Ah, the imageworks... man, that place was awesome.

  • this ride kicks butt

  • figment is awesome but they made him into a trouble maker now

  • this makes me sad. ;__; miss this ride.<3

  • Are the video Figments Muppets or Reprogrammed Animatronic? I know there's some bluescreen, but what else?

  • I always assumed they were just puppets

  • Definitely puppets, although some of them might have been partially animatronic.

  • I recently went there and also went when I was a kid. I was so disappointed to see the top floor was shut down and the interactive stuff is COMPLETELY LAME compared to the way it used to be. They really should restore it to it's former greatness. I hope Disney looks at these internet comments.

  • Totally. I wasn't bothered by the new ride but the new Imageworks totally SUCKS

  • This version rates ****! Wow! It was the best ride at Epcot! Horizons was my 2nd favorite too! ****!

  • this ride is like small world but WAYY BETTER

i wish i could see my awesome purplish dragon of a figment of imagination

  • I can't believe they took out this ride. I was born in 1951 and grew up on the original Disneyland and first saw this in my 30'ies. I was playing hooky from a business meeting. I just keep riding it over and over. Figment is right up there to get kids to learn. They really need to return this ride to it former greatness. It could use newer technology but the messages are so great in this one. The new one is lame! It just doesn't cut it. Long live Figment!

  • There are only so many stories behind stories and by using imagination, they created a new version. It may not be as popular as it was but it is different; if we didn't try new things or use our imaginations to tell other stories, how will they be told. Older Disney rides will be missed, but it's the use of imagination that keeps Disney rides new every time you ride them!

  • True.

But why take away a ride that people already loved to death.

Besides, it's not like disney doesn't have the money to buy more land.

  • I had read the original was filled with technical problems. That and in order to keep Kodak's sponsorship, they had to make a new ride

  • I actually heard it was the other way around. Disney, not Kodak, was pushing for a new ride. They were threatening to drop Kodak in favour of Fuji films, since the latter wanted a roller coaster (of all things) to replace Imagination. Kodak agreed to foot the bill for a new ride in return for their sponsorship renewal.

Given that Kodak was the exclusive film provider of Disney, they had a lot more to lose from not getting the sponsorship than Disney did.

  • that is so wrong, if there is something that was was awesome, like this classic ride, would you change it, no I don't think so, they completely ruined this classic ride, the original is 100x better

  • You wouldn't say that if you were the imagineers working with a ride constantly breaking down XD But that said, the old ride did have more charm and more to look at. I'd like to see something of this level of charm and visuals, but it doesn't need the over the top ride mechanics that partially led to it's downfall in the first place though

  • all they should of done was replace the track then instead of ruin the whole ride

  • I can agree with that. Though I kinda like the idea of Eric Idle in Disney World XD

  • I don't, I like the dreamfinder way better

  • w're talking early 80's here though

back when EVERYTHING glitched, remember amiga?, that glitched constantly

  • back when Epcot was RAD!!

  • To be honest, when I was a kid, this was the only part of Epcot I really liked XD

  • okay. I've only rode the original version twice before it closed down.

  • It's that cynicism that's taken them further away from their impervious formula for success. EPCOT Center needs to progress, but to progress within it's own themes. It should never stray from it's ability to inspire, educate, entertain and unite people as it so successfully did in it's first 12 or so years. Hopefully blogs and old clips can keep the original spark alive.

  • I certainly hope that Disney actually has learned from it's recent mistakes and will finally get back to their roots. And hopefully they'll start to only hire people who appreciate the creative genius of Disney's past and will turn away anyone that has shown cynicism toward their previous creative achievements.

  • It's such a perfect example of how the old creators of these rides really respected human beings and their abilities to learn, create and achieve amazing things. The new breed of "Imagineers" have very little respect, if any, for human achevement, and a sense of cynicism that is insulting to both those with mature patterns of thought and those with childish youthful patterns of thought.

  • Seeing this amazingly crafted video makes me both happy and sad. It clearly defines what people mean when they say, "If it isn't broke, don't fix it!".

  • I heard that the rehab was only for the imageworks so far. I hope that they do both.

  • This was my favorite ride when I was a kid. Looking at this video, I actually have one of those stuffed Figment toys from the original ride.

I heard that Disney filed a permit for construction on this attraction sometime next year. Here's hoping it may be for the rumored rebirth of the original attraction.

  • That is awsome! I wish I could have seen it back then. I saw it recently and it was horible. But I love this version and I really am sad that they destroyed it. I actually like Figment and the dreamfinder. They actually made figment in the new ride annoying and kind of dumb but the origional really says to use your imagination. I really wish they would rebuild this back to the origional version.

  • Long Live JIYI!

  • OH MY!, They Messed Up The 2nd Version, I Just Wanted Eric Idle!

  • oh...wow...! I went on that ride when I was little, but barely remembered it until I saw this! Thank you so much for sharing -- what wonderful memories! Why did they have to go and change something so perfect?

  • I was just there and its pretty lame now. I can only guess it was way to expensive to keep up the original ride. The new ride had very little effects and not as much imagination. I still enjoy Disney to the fullest. They always keep things magical. Love that dang Mouse!

  • Quite the opposite, actually. The revisions cost millions of dollars, but the new sponsors to the imagination ride hoped the new version would be more popular than the old. The whole thing backfired quite spectacularly.

  • Any other kid born 1976 to 1990 from the Northeast who visited EPCOT then will agree with me. Long live the Journey Into Imagination. Disney must know what they have destroyed.

  • Born in 1986, I still remember the ride and the words to the song. It was enlightening then, and still would be now, yet the words of the song still haunt me, and even though I probably only heard the words three or four times, after waiting in line for 2 hours way back when, I can still sing the song, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. This is imprinted in our memory just as are the TMNT and the Disney Afternoon. Long live the Dreamfinder and the original Journey Into Imagination!

  • LONG LIVE THE 1982-1998 IMAGE WORKS!!

  • Thank you so much for creating this video and sharing it with us. It brought back so many great memories and actually made me a bit misty. You're only 8 for a short while, but the memories last forever.
