yeah I agree this is how micheal jackson would have looked if he had braids its funny thinking the same thing and I see it posted lol I've got a widow's peak so I have to keep getting lined up in the front or it just want look right also I just have to say this video here is the most motivating video I've seen on here it shows youth and endurance and that's definitely a plus 4 me I replay it over and over again when I just want to cut my hair thanks Artistic Gemini
Yeah I'm jealous. I tried to grow my hair out in November of 2009 but the following April my mom forced me to cut my hair. If she hadn't have done that, then my hair would be atleast 10 inches. I'm so mad. But I started again 3 months ago. Hopefully she doesn't mess things up this time. >_>
damnnn that video was hot u killed that shit foreal!! i been growin my hair since april, well thats when i got my last hair cut and i hope i can get my shit braided by this month or next month...
My hair looks like yours when u had it growing for 16 months. Ive been growing mine out for 1 year hopefully I'll keep my hair out for at least 4 years
Just looking at this video inspires me every time to strife further the only problem is when I look at your 5-months of growth I see myself because I'm about 6 months in now but when I look at your 7-months of growth I kinda get discouraged cuz my sides and back are not growing at the same rate tends to grow slower got any suggestions?
@4evaboyz as long as the person doing your hair is gentle along your hairline and doesn't pull the hair too hard your hairline shouldn't recede. It happens when they're too rough and weaken the hair along the hairline or pull them out
@TheArtisticGemini i have a question i got a shape up but i got da bak down of my hair faded nd da side nd i still wanna grow my hair.. will dat be ok for me to do or should i just cut da whole thing nd start over?
@JAYLOVE4777 yea genetics plays a huge role in determining how fast your hair will grow and how long it will grow but I never heard of a growth rate like yours, I find that interesting. have you ever tried biotin?
@anigreg Im sorry but i dont believe that. Now I know some ppl hair grows slow but you mean to tell me you haven't trimmed your hair since 03 which is 8 yrs ago and your hair is only 6 inches long? Bullshit... you got to be joking bro! Something isn't right, my hair grows slow too bro, but not that slow. You must not moisturize it or something
@poenigg18 to be honest I'm not sure, I don't measure my hair's length, sorry. but according to experts your hair typically grows about 1/2 an inch per month
I'm at 19 months now and when I take my braids out I sometimes have to wear the afro for a few days b4 I can get it re-braided but when I pick my hair it is VERY hard to comb through it it's very thick and a LOT of hair falls out when I pick it. I use the Doo Gro lotion and I take good care of my hair. N also like I said I'm at 19 months now but my hair is only to your 16 month mark if not that in this video! Also when your hair was out at that time how did u sleep on it?
@sonyadeven have you tried a detangling spray or cream? If not, I would suggest trying one before you try to pick it out. Also, don't be discouraged, there's people who's hair is longer than mine that have been growing for less time than me but I don't compare myself to them because I big part in hair growth is genetics and that's something that can't be compared from person to person. When my hair was short I just slept on it, then I started to pull it back with a hair band
Hey Dude Nice Video. I Have Just One Question. It look like your hair grows a lot every month.. well im also growing out my hair right now im at 7 months but IDK why my hair isnt growing.. my hair right now looks like the picture you put for 5 months and i dont get it lol i just started using a product called "doo gro" and idk if that works.. i just want long hair already :( lol any tips ?
@AfroKidd5 the main thing to remember is to be patient, growing your hair is a long process. It sounds like you're doing well so far so just stick with it and give the new product time to really react/adjust to your hair before making your final decision on it. I'd say give it at least a month or two to see how well it reacts to your hair, it may take some time to notice it
@hydeparksfinest patience is a huge part in hair growth, the waiting can be frustrating at times but like you said it pays off in the long run so stick with it and go for your goal
@TheArtisticGemini why does ur hair grow so fast? what products do you use? what do you eat? how do you maintain ur hair? im starting the journey and im going on 3 months and my hair growth is pathetic D:
Man i gotta say that this is by far my favorite video u made. I watch it all the time. Bt i will be making a new vid come this Febuary. Its been around 7 months. Bt check me out come this Febuary
@BubbaMurphyProducts3 Thanks I appreciate it! I figured it would be a good idea to have a bunch of clips in one vid to show my progression and it's been getting a lot of positive feedback. Keep me posted for when you make ur first vid so I can check it out!
nice hair bro mines about 3 1/2 inches ... moms been buggin the mess out of me about it in the resturant lol so i try my best to skull cap it or braid it .
i think its been a good 6months last may i think . what does it mean to get tapered.?
@Buddah615 Thanks, a taper is basically like a fade from a short length along the hairline to the longest length of your hair...it's kinda hard to explain but you could probably search YouTube for barber videos that show tapers
@DENZELCURRYPH All you gotta do is be patient and keep maintaining your hair properly, it's a process that takes time but you'll reach your goal eventually!
Since getting your hair braided will help you retain more length and thus allow it to kind of grow longer, do you think that the earlier you get braids the better? For instance, do you think if you got your hair braided around the 4.5-5th month instead of in the 6th that it would be longer than it is now?
@BoBSchniderX that's a great question and to be honest I'm not sure...it makes sense though that it would help like you said in your comment so I'm leaning more towards saying yes, it will but like I said I can't say it with 100% confidence
@Rinevitable thanks, my hangtime would have been noticeably longer but I got the sides and back tapered twice during my early stages but it's all good, I learned from it lol
@DWaves44 I only used braid spray while it was braided but I did use oil later as my hair got longer...I put a lil on my scalp in the front (at the beginning of the braid) then ran it all the way to the back gently with my finger and did that for all of the parts...now I'm back to just using braid spray
@seafoamwinter that sucks...but believe me it's possible to get a job with pretty much any style of hair. I've had 2 jobs since I started getting braids and I already have a 3rd job waiting for me in January
@TheArtisticGemini Yeah, its all about so-called "professionality", so far Im feeling my new haircut, I'll start a new hair journey some other time, I'll still follow your vids though
Aye big homie, your hair is gettin long! Im just now gettin into to growin my hair back again nd watchin yo vids been helpin alot. Keep up the good work dawg.
@BoBSchniderX I shampoo and condition when I take my braids out (about once every 2 1/2 to 3 weeks at this point). You can pick it when you feel it's necessary but don't overpick it or you can weaken your roots and cause breakage
How do i get my hair line shaped? And how do I get a trim? Do i just ask the barber for it? My hair grows extremely fast. Im straight out of Africa lol
@BigmanKennedy at this length, no I did not get it trimmed often. when it was shorter I got it trimmed and now that it's longer i get it trimmed more often
@harmnab yea it is bad cause after like a month,ur hair will shrink.thats what happened to me.but it all depends cause everybody has different types of hair but i still dont recommend using it.
hey gemini wassup....................im almost 9 months in and my hair grows very slow..lol.................i always see people with braids geting their hair shaped up in the front nd sides and i c ur sides are shaped up but im wondering when i should get shaped up and how often......i also want to knw if its ok to use Jamaican mango and lime on braids or is it only for dreads???
@donvitoonline Whatever you do don't get discouraged by your hair's growth rate, it's different for everyone. I shape my hairline up about once a week. You can get it done as often as you like, I know some people that go two weeks. I've used the JM&L on my braids, it's perfectly fine.
Been a Min Bruh. I though You went A-Wall on Us hahaha. Nahhh I Know You Busy with School and Life in General. This the Perfect that Show's Your Journey Man. It's Crazy to See that Growth as the Months Go by. Good Work Man, it's been a looong Journey for You. Can't Wait till' My Fro Gets to that Size. I'm Headin' into Month #2 Myself. 10 Months to Go but I'm Stickin' wit' it. Keep it up though Bruh, & keep the Hair Journey Vids commin' no doubt.
@504NOwestbank LMAO thanks bro I appreciate that comment, this is the longest I've grown my hair on my own (last time I grew it out long was when I was really lil so my mom was taking care of it more than I was lol) so it's a BIG accomplishment for me. Keep up your growth too, you'll get to a year before you know it, trust me, it flies by QUICK! More vids to come most def.
Another great video bro, your progress is very impressive. I have watched your videos and remembered how it was for me when I was first growing my hair out. Have you recently straightened your hair just to see how long your hair is? And are there any other styles that you're looking into that you haven't had done on your hair yet? Keep up the awesome vids and i'm looking forward to your two year update
@afrowarrior102 Thanks, I thought about getting two strand twists a couple months ago but still never got it done yet...a lot of people tell me it would be a nice style for me but I feel like if I get them done I would be tempted into keeping them and letting them turn into dreads lol. I haven't straightened my hair in about 2 months I believe
@TheArtisticGemini Haha I hear you on that one, I have been tempted to try out dreads myself. I would like to try french braids, but I was told that french braids look good depending on what type of hair you have. Do you think there is any truth to that?
@BigBuddah114 I use Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10...it's a great program, it takes a little editing know-how but once you get the hang of it you can produce some really good videos. It has a lot to offer
very nice video..i dont know how you put all those videos in one, u got some serious computer skills lol i made a video of my hair journey beginning from low fade to now(10 months) except its a photo slideshow, check it out whenever u have time
@ebonie326 Thanks, I appreciate it Ebonie. I'm surprised I didn't see yours already, it must not have shown in my subscription box (happens to some of the vids I'm subscribed to sometimes for some reason) but Imma definitely check it out!
@TheOnlinePerson I just try to maintain it as best as I can. keep your scalp clean and moisturized and get your ends trimmed every once in a while. ALso drink plenty of water and maintain a healthy, nutrient-rich diet
@radiokillaDB lol thanks, been busy with school and work lately but I found the time to throw this together. this was my first time editing a vid in a while lol
Nice video! But it seems that the longer your hair grows, the more thin and see through your ends look. You should make sure to get your ends trimmed every 3 months or so.
@ladydipset88 thanks, i get my ends trimmed more often than every 3 months lol...it might just be the camera, not sure but my ends are relatively the same thickness as the shaft of the hair follicles
Just for everyones information. I noticed by leaving my hair uncombed and never ever blowdrying it, straightening it etc, my hair grew significantly quicker. I grew what he had at 12 months in 7 months. I never used any products other than shower gel as shampoo dries out the hair and too much conditioner just puts a layer on top of it making it dull. I cut my hair still, but will be growing it again hopefully for 2 years minimum.
aw man that slideshow was great. would hav been great if i was on the journey with you from the beginning but i think i only joined around your first year. anyway good job!
man...you really came a long way to get where you are now. the funny thing is that i was JUST watching your first vid just a couple days ago and was like "man...thats short compared to now" lol. congratulations tho. i got something for ya 2 year update so be expecting that....along with a side of MW2 WHOOP ASS! lol jk stay up bro peace
@DMacversion1 LMAO at the end of that comment! But thanks bro and yea my first update till now has been a HUGE difference. I sat and watched a couple of my early vids while editing this and just thought "wow" because this journey has taught me a lot but not just about taking care of my hair but other things like patience and diligence as well
Does the blow drying and picking at the same time work as good as the blow dryer with comb attachment? I thought about getting attachment but theres some good reviews on amazon and some bad reviews on amazon
@vicehoundelite the attachment is better in my opinion at straightening your hair more. In my case, it doesn't completely straighten my hair to it's full length but it gets pretty close. the only bad thing about them is if you buy the plastic one you have to be careful with you heat setting on the blow dryer or the teeth will get too hot and break off
How often do you trim your ends? And is it important to even trim your ends at all?
I am asking this because my brother is trying to grow his hair out and he wants me to help but he isn't listening. So I decided to let him watch your video.
@waltbaby08 I think it's very important if you notice a lot of split/damaged ends. if you leave them they'll just split more and break your hair off and it'll become uneven. I get mine trimmed whenever I notice split ends. whenever my hair is out in a fro I look through it to see if there's any split ends. Hopefully this helps him
Dope to see your hair over all that time! Unfortuanetely for me, after six months my dad and mom are extremely pushing for me to get a haircut... they don't want me to get it braided either. I'm even more angry that Im 19... any styles that I can allow it to grow without it being an afro/braided?
Hey if u blow dried out ur hair at 4 or 5 months could u flat iron it or would it be too small?
duskylaughingelijah 2 weeks ago

Lucky you! Some people have fast growing hair because of good genetics while others have very slow growing hair!
My hair will never get that long.. it took you what... 9 months? Shiiit, it'll take me at least 4 years before my hair gets that length.
My hair only grows about 2-3 inches a year smh.
It's feb 2011 and my lil ass fro is about a half of inch long.. by christmas it'll be like 2 inches if that!

Yo what's up? How often do you shampoo and condition your hair? And is picking it out everyday necessary or can i just do it when i feel like?
BoBSchniderX 1 year ago
@BoBSchniderX I shampoo and condition when I take my braids out (about once every 2 1/2 to 3 weeks at this point). You can pick it when you feel it's necessary but don't overpick it or you can weaken your roots and cause breakage
TheArtisticGemini 1 year ago
How do i get my hair line shaped? And how do I get a trim? Do i just ask the barber for it? My hair grows extremely fast. Im straight out of Africa lol
RoadKrabSo 1 year ago
@RoadKrabSo Yup, just ask them for a slight trim all around (or you can say a little off the top) and a shape up, they'll know exactly what you want
TheArtisticGemini 1 year ago
do you get your hair trimmed often at that length?
BigmanKennedy 1 year ago
@BigmanKennedy at this length, no I did not get it trimmed often. when it was shorter I got it trimmed and now that it's longer i get it trimmed more often
TheArtisticGemini 1 year ago
use it bad to use a s-curl when growing your hair?
harmnab 1 year ago
@harmnab I can't really say since I never used it but I personally wouldn't use it
TheArtisticGemini 1 year ago
@harmnab yea it is bad cause after like a month,ur hair will shrink.thats what happened to me.but it all depends cause everybody has different types of hair but i still dont recommend using it.

hey gemini wassup....................im almost 9 months in and my hair grows very slow..lol.................i always see people with braids geting their hair shaped up in the front nd sides and i c ur sides are shaped up but im wondering when i should get shaped up and how often......i also want to knw if its ok to use Jamaican mango and lime on braids or is it only for dreads???
donvitoonline 1 year ago
@donvitoonline Whatever you do don't get discouraged by your hair's growth rate, it's different for everyone. I shape my hairline up about once a week. You can get it done as often as you like, I know some people that go two weeks. I've used the JM&L on my braids, it's perfectly fine.

Another great video bro, your progress is very impressive. I have watched your videos and remembered how it was for me when I was first growing my hair out. Have you recently straightened your hair just to see how long your hair is? And are there any other styles that you're looking into that you haven't had done on your hair yet? Keep up the awesome vids and i'm looking forward to your two year update
afrowarrior102 1 year ago
@afrowarrior102 Thanks, I thought about getting two strand twists a couple months ago but still never got it done yet...a lot of people tell me it would be a nice style for me but I feel like if I get them done I would be tempted into keeping them and letting them turn into dreads lol. I haven't straightened my hair in about 2 months I believe
TheArtisticGemini 1 year ago
@TheArtisticGemini Haha I hear you on that one, I have been tempted to try out dreads myself. I would like to try french braids, but I was told that french braids look good depending on what type of hair you have. Do you think there is any truth to that?
afrowarrior102 1 year ago
@afrowarrior102 as far as I know it doesn't matter what your hair type is for french braids

If you dont mind me asking, what program do u use to edit yo vids? what ever it is is nice. Good luck with the rest of your hair journey! :)
BigBuddah114 1 year ago
@BigBuddah114 I use Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10...it's a great program, it takes a little editing know-how but once you get the hang of it you can produce some really good videos. It has a lot to offer

TheArtisticGemini 1 year ago
Nice video! But it seems that the longer your hair grows, the more thin and see through your ends look. You should make sure to get your ends trimmed every 3 months or so.
ladydipset88 1 year ago
@ladydipset88 thanks, i get my ends trimmed more often than every 3 months lol...it might just be the camera, not sure but my ends are relatively the same thickness as the shaft of the hair follicles
TheArtisticGemini 1 year ago
nice you have inspired me too keep pushin through my hair growing process im almost done with my 6th month and finally got braids thanks man
alphatitan22 1 year ago
@alphatitan22 that's great, keep up the growth!
TheArtisticGemini 1 year ago
Just for everyones information. I noticed by leaving my hair uncombed and never ever blowdrying it, straightening it etc, my hair grew significantly quicker. I grew what he had at 12 months in 7 months. I never used any products other than shower gel as shampoo dries out the hair and too much conditioner just puts a layer on top of it making it dull. I cut my hair still, but will be growing it again hopefully for 2 years minimum.

@DMacversion1 LMAO at the end of that comment! But thanks bro and yea my first update till now has been a HUGE difference. I sat and watched a couple of my early vids while editing this and just thought "wow" because this journey has taught me a lot but not just about taking care of my hair but other things like patience and diligence as well
TheArtisticGemini 1 year ago
Does the blow drying and picking at the same time work as good as the blow dryer with comb attachment? I thought about getting attachment but theres some good reviews on amazon and some bad reviews on amazon
vicehoundelite 1 year ago
@vicehoundelite the attachment is better in my opinion at straightening your hair more. In my case, it doesn't completely straighten my hair to it's full length but it gets pretty close. the only bad thing about them is if you buy the plastic one you have to be careful with you heat setting on the blow dryer or the teeth will get too hot and break off
TheArtisticGemini 1 year ago
good progress and journey brah.,

TheArtisticGemini 1 year ago
How often do you trim your ends? And is it important to even trim your ends at all?
I am asking this because my brother is trying to grow his hair out and he wants me to help but he isn't listening. So I decided to let him watch your video.
waltbaby08 1 year ago
@waltbaby08 I think it's very important if you notice a lot of split/damaged ends. if you leave them they'll just split more and break your hair off and it'll become uneven. I get mine trimmed whenever I notice split ends. whenever my hair is out in a fro I look through it to see if there's any split ends. Hopefully this helps him

your what inspired me to grow my hair, and im glad i grew it out :D im your biggest fan!

Dope to see your hair over all that time! Unfortuanetely for me, after six months my dad and mom are extremely pushing for me to get a haircut... they don't want me to get it braided either. I'm even more angry that Im 19... any styles that I can allow it to grow without it being an afro/braided?
