@csokolin sometimes you need to do things that you swore never to do in trainin. He was in the middle of two other rangers both 2-3 feet from him. They were unaware of a danger to their right. And although the D was on their left shooting right, there was a threat that the other two could not eliminaate. It was a life/death descision, never the less the right one. If he hadnt of shot, one of the two could have been hit, forcing the whole group two stop and recover him, possibly costin more lives

@zai28 note that the US did not piss off the somalies it was 2 UN operated cobra attack helicopters that had taken fire from a building they targeted the wrong building and fired missiles into it killing 70+ somalia civilians and wounding many more the americans who had been deployed there had never shot at anyone who didnt shoot at them first the aftermath of the helicopter attack was what led up to Black hawk down. i just read a book about it and watched a show

@zai28 You're not clear on the facts so perhaps you shouldn't comment until you read up a bit. You can't call the US rallying aid & delivering tons of food to starving people in Somalia "selfish". The only reason the US sent soldiers in was because the aid they were sending to Somalis who desperately needed it - wasn't making it to the people. Somali tribes were stealing it, so it only made it to the warring tribes soldiers.

@csokolin sometimes you need to do things that you swore never to do in trainin. He was in the middle of two other rangers both 2-3 feet from him. They were unaware of a danger to their right. And although the D was on their left shooting right, there was a threat that the other two could not eliminaate. It was a life/death descision, never the less the right one. If he hadnt of shot, one of the two could have been hit, forcing the whole group two stop and recover him, possibly costin more lives

But I hope you realise that a lot of these countries are the way they are now, because we, western countries, stole all their resources and left once they were gone. So there are no good or bad guys in these kind of situations. Or did you really think that America was in Somalia because they just wanted to help? Once again there were a lot of economic reasons to ""help""" those countries. That's how it goes, sadly!

They are socially-connected in inextricable ways;sometimes they are willing meat shields, some are bullied into aiding the militia. Very often, the reality of the situation on the ground finds the people as both arsonist and fireman.
As a side note, the UN mission in Somalia lacked a coherent leadership to successfully coordinate a peace-making mission among the warlords. (My opinion)

@amasuEnd no, pay attention to what this missions objective was. it was to capture adids two top guys. one was his arms dealer and the other was... i dont remember. they were what we were after. they said that adid MIGHT be at the meeting in the building but it wasnt confirmed. the mission was to capture the two officers and see if they would get information on adids wereabouts read up on THAT and apologise.
