Airsoft pros: more realistic feel, high fps(not always good, not always bad), varieties of guns, cheaper. Airsoft cons: less accurate, no definite way to tell if someone is hit(don't play with dishonest people. And flip the pros and cons for airsoft and change some things around and there you go for the pros and cons of paintball; quit bitching at eachother.
@sokaplaya99 many videogamers play paintball and athletic people play airsoft so your post is now invalid, it just depends on how you play it, airsoft can be as fast paced as paintball and paintball can be as tactical as airsoft, just not as realistic
@sokaplaya99 I'd say it doesn't really matter, many people play airsoft because it is much cheaper and can be played in more places than paintball, and it is a fast growing sport. Paintball is nice because players can't deny their outs.

Realism can also come down to things such as field stripping. Try to accurately field strip a Tippmann M4 (Alpha Black) paintball gun vs my G&P WOC M4A1 and compare it to a real steel Colt M4A1 Carbine, then you'll see the difference on what "realism" really is.
@bf8383rocks airsoft guns look like real guns but they deffently dont field strip like them... i have disassembled a c7 rifle, and i can tell you there is no way the internal components look anything like they do in a airsoft gun... but the outside of it, and basic function does look very similar
@101andrewj That's true to some extent. What platform of airsoft gun are you comparing your C7 to? If it's a spring rifle or an AEG, you probably won't find many similarities. If you compare it to an "open bolt" style GBB M16 or M4 platform rifle then you'll be seeing less differences between the real steel and the airsoft as far as field stripping goes.

The military uses airsoft for CQB tactics training. Muscle memory with the same training sight picture and body mechanics as when they go live downrange.

Also, to alert you of your error they shoot at 450 FPS max (unless your playing with friends with un-capped gameplay) at fields, and the BB's would probably explode at 500 FPS anyways. i have shot real guns and i have airsoft guns. I like shooting off real guns to blow up targets and have fun with the kick and the sound and the power. the ammo IS expensive though.
Playing airsoft is a completely different thing so saying "get a real gun" is completely retarted. I shoot guns and i play airsoft they are completely different things. i love airsoft and shooting guns is awsome

I think the main reason people say... get a real gun, is becuz they can! in the U.S.. and go to ranches or whatever and shoot, but in denmark we are not allowed to do that. PLUS! with an airsoft gun you can join fights and shoot at eachother.. You cant with a real gun... well if u join the army sure.. but the prices is abit higher when u get hit :D

I'm not even sure why you would type what you did because its a PEQ and even you admitted it. And thats not where I know it, since I don't own any airsoft guns except my pistol. Don't be so quick to judge, otherwise you make yourself look like a dumbass. I own 3 real guns also. (Ruger 10/22, Mosin nagant 91/30, and 12 GA. single barrel)

This is just from my perspective but if you use a real gun for games I'm pretty sure someone is going to have to either go to the hospital or to a funeral, Whereas I think a airsoft gun will at most give you a little dent which will heal pretty quickly, But of course this just my view.

@meany1023 Okay? Our Paintballs are 10x the size of your BB's. Also, to alert you of your error they shoot at 450 FPS max (unless your playing with friends with un-capped gameplay) at fields, and the BB's would probably explode at 500 FPS anyways. Even if it didn't it would go uncontrollably through the air at that FPS. Point proven, Paintballs pick up speed in the air and are 10x bigger. They hurt more.

ok, my bad don't need to get all hostile over the net.
- I've been playing for a few years and been to several over night games and few out of town games that are three day scenarios.(which are the most fun to do)
- I play with a professional team down in the Texas area every time i get a chance to but school sometimes get in the way.
- At least we have one thing in common and thats playing airsoft and enjoying the game.
- I use a JG RPK and Spetznaz how bout you?
