In America, we have numbers for every fruit and vegetable, they're called PLU codes. Don't really know what PLU stands for, but there's a list behind the register off all of them and some fruits have stickers with the code on them. PLU is probably my least favorite part too.

@MissPatatee don't think too much about it you are not the first or the last person that has this problem, just stay positive and for your next job just make sure you ask all the question while they train you =) I know how you must feel(frustraded) I just got my first job and am going to be a cashier. They're only going to train me friday and the store opens saturday, am very nervous.

In my part of America there are some tags on the fruits but sometimes the company has their own numbers. I still remember 11 being the number for bananas. I always had the booklet with all the fruit and vegetable numbers with me.

In Sweden there are some stores where you put the pricetag on yourself after weighing the fruit or whatever it is you're buying, but I think they have the info written in some sort of catalogue at the counter.

Is the guy slightly old with a beard? I think I've met him a couple of times when I worked at Rimi. Anyway, the PLU codes for fruits & vegetables might seem frustrating, but you'll memorize them quit quickly (it's easier to remember the pattern on the keyboard instead of the numbers themselves)

The one thing i hated (beyond the bi weekly asian man who seemed to think it was his purpose to buy literally every cartoon of 2% milk) about cashier was the fruits and veggies codes. But in the end i gave a friend the laminated copy of the codes as a joke xD and Go Canadian content :)

Supposedly the numbers that you enter in for the produce becomes second nature after a time. I had an aunt who still remembers the numbers for all the products when she worked in a store as a teen. It's insane. XD

I worked as a "Courtesy Clerk" which is a glorified bagger, and this one man was angry because I mushed his paper towels. We had to go get him another roll for him to calm down.

I am happy you are out as a worker, meeting new and interesting people. Many "cashiers' in the US are also called associates, as if they were part owners of the business. You will have many new experiences to turn into videos.

We have the put the price on setup here, in the major chain stores. If your store gets larger, it would be easy to set up.
