Need help my iMac will not even start but some time after sitting for weeks I try it and it only stays on for 10 secs than shuts off and right after thT I try turning it back on and nothing wont even start wht is wrong with it need help thank you
Great video!! very helpful. Im wondering; would it be possible to use the iMac 24 intel (2007-2009) as a standalone monitor? If you leave the power supply to power the monitor, and use a DVI to LVDS converter from an external video card for the video signal.
@phils137 Thanks! I don't see why it would not work, Although I myself have never tried that particular setup. I still have that iMac I will try myself and post the results.
it was the hard drive.. after i took it apart and powered it up the drive made no noise whatsoever so i plugged another drive in and powered it up and got the hard drive powering up sound,,, so i replaced it and it, did the ol partition and format of the drive plus install the os.. which took a while to find.. rockin sox again...
after some surge power in my house my imac 24"doesnt work anymore... i hope is only th epower suply. Do you know where i could buy it? I am in Australia. Cheers Mates
thanks for the response - hmm the monitor on my sister's imac will not come on except on some random occasions for about 5 seconds. The Hard drive works though and it will load up to the OS without the screen being on.
Imac had no power whatsoever, no screen light power lights or hard drive sound. I checked for power at the cable and found i was receiving power. Determined power supply as culprit.
@loustechworld thank you how much would a job like this be

@Loustechworld the only p\problem if finding a converter card, most are wholesale/bulk companies, or overseas. :(

how did you diagnose that the power supply needed replacing?
