  • Whovever owns that color footage of the Beatles in Hamburg with pete Best is either a very rich man or just extremely fucking lucky to say "I saw them then".

  • Ps. at the end of ''Some other guy'' do you hear the audience yell we want Pete!?

  • I think the starting days before the big break were the best times for The Beatles

  • GENIUS

  • Where's Lemmy in the crowd?

  • aaaaa I have never seen the Beatles in Cavern Club LIVE , only fotos...

thank you! how I love this guys...;-)

  • The original footage of this clip must be worth millions.

  • "yall might not be ready for this yet........but your kids are gonna love it"

  • Got to admit, that is the first time i saw that footage, got to luv that. "Shadow" audio was unevenly loud. but what ever, High quality and great!

  • Since they are called both sounds it is that I liked them and I was charmed with them please say to me

  • 2:00 souns like there shouting "DO RAUNCHY!!

    "

  • @kieranlikesyou1 It is: "We want Pete!"

  • the fact that the quality is so clear is what amazes me, the beatles at their freshest

  • I got the same guitar as George!

  • So there are 7 lifeless people who watched this clip......i feel sorry for them

    Great clip!

  • the first song is pretty tame, i'm guessing the second is more typical for them at this time, the screaming , the heavy drum beat, the attack on the rhythm guitar, just perfect!

  • ringos hair looks boss

  • I love how the earliest known footage of the Beatles has George singing. That is how it should be. George for the WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love that sudden bashful smile from George at the 1:00 min mark (a girl from the front row must have been making eyes at him), & then he suppresses it swiftly and continues to play with great concentration. Their energy and chemistry was so visible even then.Wish I'd been around in Hamburg and Liverpool with them at this time. My favorite 4 boys.

  • at the end of the song some other guy someone says *we want pete* lolz

  • Someone use this for argument that Paul is still with us. I know they look alike but those are different persons. Faul is alive.

  • in the george harrison film living in the material world they have the same hamburg video with sound on it, its hard 2 belive we now have color fotage of the Beatles in hamburg with sound

  • @thebarchord Actually it was silent 8mm film the sound was from one of the performances(That one, maybe)

  • Incredible clips! Thank you! And you definitely want to get Pete's "Best of the Beatles" DVD too. Pete has some great anecdotes about their trips to Hamburg, and the Casbah - Where its interesting to note that Paul painted the ceiling of one room and John painted another - still there to this day. He also talks about poor George getting a smack in the eye, because Ringo took his place. He felt bad for George, who didn't deserve the ire of the Beatles fans, over his firing.

  • 1:59 "We want Pete" then right after you hear some girls saying "Ringo"...

  • This was Ringo's second show with them after Eppy fired Pete Best. John married Cynthia the next morning as she was now pregnant. After this performance, George was head-butted by a Teddy giving him a black eye because there was certain lashing out for firing Pete Best. In this recording, during the cheering, you are supposed to hear someone scream, "We want Pete!" @2:01. With all that surrounding them, look at their professionalism and composure. "The show must go on." - John Lennon

  • 8/22/62

    1. Pete Best fired 4 days earlier

    2. Love Me Do (1st recording w/EMI) recorded 12 days after this

    Magic is about to happen.

  • My birthday is on August 22th!!!! Feel so glad now lol

Oh and God knows how hard I dance to 'Some other Guy'...everytime I hear that song,I just can't contain myself from twisting and shouting to it,their rock n' roll voices are magic, orgasmic i would say XD and then some people wonder what's all that big fuss about the Beatles...uhh they really dont have a bloody idea of what they're missing.

LONG LIVE THE BEATLES! JOHN&PAUL&GEORGE&RINGO FOREVER!

-just a girl from late BEATLEMANIA generation

  • Very kool & well-done audio/video! Regards, '62 Mathew St. (Total Retro Rock)

  • this is the day before john and cynthia got married and also when this was none as the earliest footage of the beatles it was realy cool becuase the first footge and the last footage of the beatles was on august 22 but when they found the footage of them in febuary 1962 it kind of ruined the thing about the first and last footage of the beatles on the same day diffrent years

  • "Some Other Guy" was an appropriate title -- they'd fired Pete Best less than a week prior to making this film. Some other guy now was on the drums -- Ringo.

Glad to see though that Pete's career is flourishing now. Just played Memphis as part of the celebrations of Elvis's 75th birthday.

  • I can imagine playing in that tight spot

And then the played big coloseums and baseball parks

  • Loved this when I saw it first on Anthology, this is pure class like John said in 1977, Punk? "we did punk in The cavern!" true, this is raw!

  • Hell yeah, best quality on Youtube. Bout time I can hear this good. Thanks for posting.

  • Imágenes de ellos en Hamburgo a color al final, Increible!!

  • Just an update on the "Hamburg" footage. The footage is most likely from February 10, 1962 at St. Paul's Church Hall in Birkenhead. Then again, not enough info has surfaced to confirm this, but Pete Best himself says that St. Paul's is most likely the gig.

  • That footage is most likely from the Tower Ballroom in early 1962 february.. Valentines day

    Notice the Hearts behind them

  • Comment removed

  • @Rick36561 Judging by photos of the groups shows at The Tower Ballroom, I doubt that's where the footage is from. The stage looks alot different. Besides, The Tower Ballroom isn't in Hamburg.

  • @4Ihavegot its at the cavern club in liverpool (the old one) x

  • @CheerleaderKatiexx we're talking about the footage that starts at about 2:07,

  • @4Ihavegot ohhh :P x

  • That footage is most likely from the Tower Ballroom in early 1962 february.. Valentines day

  • Gran recuerdo. Quien hubiera dicho que luego se convertirian en la banda más influeyente del siglo xx.

  • George had the best guitar sound. Clean but mean.

  • I can't get enough of this video

  • i love this vid!

  • omg!!! omg omg omg!!!!!! this is so amazingly incredibly awesome!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

  • this was he first time i ever heard both of these songs and i LOVE THEM!!!! Cry for a Shadow is my 2nd favorite by them.. 1st is Al My Loving ♥

  • WOOT I Was born on Aug 22

  • Was Ringo just sitting in for Best at this performance or had he already joined the Beatles?

  • @Appleholic1 i think he had already joined the band, because at the end of the song during the applause, you can hear someone shout "We want Pete!" so.... yeah :) and cause it's in '62

  • Paul held his bass a bit high then :-)

  • How did you find this video.

  • @andreatetro it's well known first video with sound of Beatles' that appears for example on The Beatles Anthology...

  • So very difficult to state the historical significance of this clip. This concert and Shea are perhaps the most iconic moments of Beatlemania. Honest, it just doesn't get any better than this. Pete leaves the stage and Ringo enters. And the rest, as they say, is history.

  • Pete Best was the beatles first drummer in 1962 at the cavern club later on that year Ringo Starr became the drummer.

  • @TinSoIdier This is the very first film of Ringo. Pete Best was discharged the week before.

  • @3:55 abd @3:57, oh wow.. faint. I <3 GEORGE!

  • thats not Ringo

  • @TinSoIdier Yes it is...

  • I can play Georges part on guitar :D awesome song

  • This must have been right after Ringo join the group and right before George received a black eye for it.

  • @rocksinger45 whoa... why did george recive a black eye for it?!

  • @newmoonamazing22 The chant was "Hell no Ringo must go" because at that point Pete Best was the favorite drummer and what happened as they were leaving the club someone took a swing at George Harrison and gave him a shiner. If you do a little research there are pic's of George at Abby Road during there first recording session with the black eye.

  • Still living at home when this was filmed.

  • ohmigod, look at Paul and George how they're bouncing! ha ha xD

  • in response to Burco1 - the 22 August 1962 footage of the Beatles at the Cavern Club was filmed by a Granada Television film crew from Manchester as a segment for a magazine programme called "Know the North". So it represents the first Professional film footage of the Beatles and it featured "Kansas City" and "Some Other Guy". Apparently amidst the applause for "Some Other Guy" a cry of "we want Pete" can be heard.

  • this is bloody phenomenal!

  • I have always been curious about this video shoot from The Cavern in 1962. Does anyone know the circumstances behind the footage? Certainly the Beatles were on the rise at this point. Who shot the footage and does anymore exist other that "Some Other Guy? Thanks.

  • @minicrow9 Thank you very much. How can I see the Kansas City segment. I'll try Youtube. That is too funny about the "We Want Pete" statement. I never noticed it until you mentioned. I'm sure Pete dosn't mind hearing it! LOL.

  • <3 love this

  • This early footage is amazing. Most of we who were around when The Beatles splashed into American culture only got to see who they were by the time they got to us. These earlier videos give us a glimpse into The Beatles before they became our number one band of all time!

  • god, i love how much paul bounces around onstage hahaha! (:

  • 1:26 unison paul and ringo

  • AMAZING! Haha I love how they all bob in unison to keep time

  • wow compared to like 1966 they sound soooo good live here

  • thanks for sharing!

What kind of guitar is George playing in the color footage? Looks ilke one similar to what John used early also. You can tell all , for the beatles look a bit nervous.

    :)

  • i cant believe im saying this but i miss john. i know hes been rude to me and everyone else, but that was him, his personality. i still considered him as a great friend of mine! rest in peace john, i loved ya and i miss ya!

  • OMG just look how cute little Georgie is! awwwww he's soooooo adorable! i wish i could jump into that video and give all of them a hug! sooo cute!

  • Judging by Ringo's hair as he boards the plane, this looks like at least mid '62, before he changed the Teddy Boy look. This is good stuff! I just saw Paul in Denver a few months ago and he is nearly as playful in 2010 as he appears in this clip.

  • @Titusalne Yeah, I was there too!

  • @TheQuarrymen58 woah, how did you get it in such good quality?! thanks by the way! x

  • @Titusalne The exact date of this video is August 22nd 1962

  • That stayes always good...and it`s still so beautiful good feelable ...these exciting moments...

  • I Met The Quarry Men And Im Going to go see there show its wonderful that there still playing, long live the beatles and awesomeee fotage and 4 beiber fans.

  • Is Paul's mic working?

  • Ive seen that footage before but it was taken off Youtube. it was shot in England 1962 i belive. When Pete Best was still in the band

  • This is wonderful, thank-you!

  • WOw--the COLOR footage is insane. RARE..never saw this..is there <MORE?

  • At 4:11 it looks like John is rapping. haha

  • Holy crap, is that color footage in Hamburg?? I thought that didn't exist!! Thanks so much for posting!!

  • @freklfacejpgr No that is not colour footage from hamburg, its the beatles playing at someones wedding, probably in liverpool.

There is no known footage of the beatles in hamburg only audio, thats not to day that none was ever taken.

In some germans attic amongst his nazi memorabilia there could be some 8mm film of the beatles taken in kaiser keller.

Someone may have been there with a cine camera, they played there often enough and for a long period of time....

    cont

  • @26highstreet continued..

And if there is some footage of them that surfaces, then pete best may not be playing drums, as he pulled a few sickes and ringo or another drummer stood in for him.

Come on all you germans search your attics you may have had an avid film maker in your family who was living in hamburg 1960-1962.

Who knows there may even be some footage of stu

  • @26highstreet I really hope some footage does exist and that someone finds it...to see that would be GOLD...

  • Ringo is still smiling when he plays the drums! LOVE HIM!!!!!

  • Beatles make me go mad :3

  • did fabfourfacts send you too?

  • exactly 48 years ago today :)

  • crap.... the beatles only had one or two good songs in my opinion... please please me and twist and shout...oh and baby it;'s you.... but not all their originals... hmmmm

  • Throw 2 guitars, a bass and a set of drums at fourbaby-boom infants and what do you get?? Bloody magic!! I mean how old were they here?? 19?? 20 at most? Geniuses of their generation and the ones to come, god bless the Pool for the Beatles!!!

And @ 4:24 WOW!!! Drool!! WOWOWOWOWOWW!!! thanks forr this upload!

  • @marniedrew 1962: the baby (George) was 19, the oldest (Ringo) was 22.

  • Comment removed

  • @MEtallica021319 Sorry friend, but both John and Ringo were born in 1940. Ringo in July and John in October - thus making Ringo the oldest. Not to be rude or anything, but I know my Beatles facts.

  • @DaydreamBeliever1983 A true Beatle fan :)

  • @fuglyydouglyy You bet!

  • i like the CRY FOR A SHADOW song...very awesome song!!!

  • You can feel their energy bouncing on to the camera - amazing sound and so chilled out - scary to think this is getting on for 50 years old!

  • 2:02

    "WE WANT PETE!!"

  • The power of youtube! It helps us be amazed by the people we love.

  • oh my goodness, this is amazing! they look so little! george looks like 15! :D beatles forever<333333333

  • (00:56) Andrew Fletcher is in the cavern?

  • Jeez, they all look so... young :)

  • 3:54 were those some middle fingers?

  • great song

  • nice video.. i love the rare vid...!

  • I'll admit I didn't watch it all the way through before... but HAMBURG FOOTAGE and in COLOUR?!!

So amazing to see! Just didn't know this existed! The boys look so young :D

Although an early song, I think "Cry For A Shadow" already shows George's great ability as a lead guitarist.

Thanks so much for sharing! :)

  • @BeatlesFan6270 Thanks for watching it all the way!

  • They were very young.

    Hey The Cavern!! that's great.

  • Great video

  • tthis made my day!

  • AWESOME QUALITY... just FAB!

  • PRICELESS!

    Thanks for great quality

  • Excellent

  • awesome!

  • Great video great songs!

  • This is great!! Well done.

  • Loved it! Way COOOOOOL!

  • wow imagine seeing them play live in hamburg or the cavern!

  • Awesome Footage!!!

  • Trevor, dude, how did you get this?

  • @zukolover666 The DVD the Unseen Beatles Rare and unseen footage

  • @TheQuarrymen58 Is there footage of the beatles with pete best? I mean LIVE video?

  • @dubbly1 nope, none that I know of.

  • @dubbly1 pete best left august 16th 1962, so that makes the first video in the cavern as being after august 16th 1962, the following clip taken around january 1962, you cant see the drummer, but pete best was always pulling a sickie and ringo had stood in for him even in hamburg.

so doubt there is any footage of him playing with the beatles

  • good

  • how old are they there, they all have very expensive guitars

  • I LOVE THIS!!! WELL DONE TREVOR!!!

  • @jimmymac30 isn't the Hamburg footage incredible?!

  • Great Song, especially in their early days! I noticed George moved around a lot more before he became famous. I wouldn't blame him if he was stage fright.
