  • The best anime cinema I've seen, the cinematography was just brilliant.

  • If you find this movie too confusing, it means you're either not smart enough to follow it, or need to wait a few years until you're older to understand it. Brilliant movie, much better than Hayao Miyazaki.

  • I would still prefer to watch this in that old vhs quaility. Something about it just makes the film seem very theatrical.

  • Damn that American Announcer... Satoushy Kaoun!

  • When i watched this movie, I found it to be very confusing. But then Satoshi Kon's movies all seem to be quite confusing.

  • If this movie is ever made into a live action feature...There's only one man who can step up to the plate. Darren fucking Aronofsky.

  • @massivecrown Of course, after all the cock sucker did such a damn good job of ripping Perfect Blue for Black Swan

  • what's the song called that's played at 0:34?

  • Millennium actress, she's all out of bubblegum.

  • un nouveaux tout beau pour ces fouilles du worl wild les bigboops voci millenium actress " winner " et la dreamworks qui frappe as ma porte du bureaux des archives pour cette entrée en force et place réserve sur la "bombec et cie "

  • @Tribbles182 Hey, that's Jim "Winnie the Motherf**king Robotnik" Cummings you're talking about! :P

  • OMG I looooooved this movie! This is what is really actually true love, peoples! D;

  • Japanese ex-celebrity actress Setsuko Hara

It is a model of heroine Chiyoko of this animated cartoon.

She retired suddenly and surprised people.

  • RIP Satoshi Kon, thank you for all you've done for Japan...

  • This movie is all sorts of awesome. Its a movie within a movie about movies; I swear that's the most accurate way that I can describe it. Its definitely one of my favorites, and I recommend it to anybody, regardless if they're into anime or not. It makes me sad that Satoshi Kon died so suddenly; imagine all the things he could've done. RIP Kon :(

  • This trailer doesnt even do it justice. . .

  • I love that kind of satoshi kon's anime the greatest masterpiece in the world next the licensed of dreamworks pictures from steven spielberg, I wish someone who was an oldest creators and directors from japan t make it more more more famous than timid and pathetic too much hayao miyazaki's anime cartoon movies that's for kids and families, why not the masterpieces of anime movies like satoshi kon's and katsuhiro otomo's anime to license with warner brothers, paramount, and universal respectively

  • DREAM WORKS WTF THEY TAKE EVERYTHING JUST LIKE DISNEY AND THEY MAKE SHITTY NARRATIONS TOO

Cause they can't make good movies themselves

  • Nuke nukem! LOL He must say "I've got balls of steel."

  • This was my first anime film <3

  • What is the name of track playing here? I'm almost sure that it's something from Susmu Hirasawa.

  • @UltraaNova I did the music for the trailer. :)

  • @immersivemusic Really :D? Where can I get the track?

  • @immersivemusic Sounds like Vangelis to me :)

  • to those wonder why this lost to brother bear.here is the reason,to american cartoon which they also included anime is for children.such cartoon like this is not really suitable for kids.and also they dont want to lose to japanese anime.seriously the oscar award now just crap.its only give for american film that cost ton of money to produce and earn them lot.all the good writer (both movie and music) and died out after the 20th century in america

  • What a lousy trailer! It does absolutely nothing to convey the plot or themes of this magnificent film. A shame.

  • GOD i cried so much during this :(

  • @o0GreenTea0o I was crying about satoshi kon right before he passed away :'( *crying* *sniffles* *tear-dropping"

  • such a good movie. WATCH IT

  • wow looks good... i want to see it.XD

  • love this director....so sad about his death...;'(

  • @padma607 so is steve jobs

  • DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO GET THE SONG PLAYING IN THE BEGINNING OF THE TRAILER?????????

  • Sublime! One of the few anime scripts that made me wanna see this in live-action...

  • How did this lose to Brother Bear?! Seriously.

  • This lost to Brother Bear in Oscar nomination.

    Fucking Brother Bear!

  • This movie is 100% Romanticism.

  • Does anyone know what the soundtrack in the beginning is called? Then please tell me, I'll be greatfull if you do.

  • When the started talking I half expected to hear 'In the city..you must fight to survive.'

  • Just.... amazing. Watch the movie because the trailer doesn't do the film justice at all.

  • BALLS OF STEEL

  • Hey, I'm trying to find a certain Millennium Actress AMV. It was one with the song A Thousand Miles. I can't seem to find it. I wonder if it got taken down...

  • Oh my fucking god. Papyrus? PAPYRUS?!?

  • This seems pretty cool... What's this about?

  • @remaininghope

Its a sad story about an actress chasing after an anti-war painter who probably was killed the day after she met him, and she never knew that she was chasing after just a shadow of a person who never existed. She solely becomes an actress in hope that he will see her and find her so she can return the key, In all her movies her life is depicted where as she is always running/chasing after something like true love.

  • @ChronoKnuckles Being rude won't change my opinion, you know. If you have a more rational argument, I would be happy to hear it.

  • Cheesy voice-over guy + anime movies = swing and a miss. I actually much prefer stills with big ass Kanji + subs over narration. Kanji just seems more expressive than any variation on the industry standard "in a world..." line.

  • Excellent Movie!! I almost cried at the end. The trailer sucks though.

  • I have seen this movie, and I based on what I saw, I can tell you that this is just an awful trailer. Doesn't capture the emotional depth of the film at all. When will America get over it's film bias against animation? Based on how this trailer characterized the movie, it seems like all anime is expected to be simple action candy.

  • someone anyone please tell me what is the song in the beginning called and who is it by???

  • Does anyone know the name of the song/artist that begins at 0:33?

  • i was filled with awe throughout the whole film! i cried at the end, but it was a brilliant ending too, so im happy with the ending also the whole life story was entertaining, Overall a gifted film that will indeed stay with my memories.

    :)

  • Anyone knows the name of the song at the beginning of the trailer?

  • WHERE CAN I WATCH THIS!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

  • the trailer is so bad

  • @ReanimaterR I think that's good, much better than hayao miyazaki's traumatically too much works like nausicaa castle in the sky totoro kiki's special delivery porco rosso whisper of the heart princess mononoke spirited away howl's moving castle and ponyo for the last time (kill and stab hayao miyazaki)
  • What does it say about quality film (in general) that you can hardly find any reference to this film on the Internet, especially on Youtube?

  • @Tribbles182 exuse my language... I FUCKING HATE THAT VOICE TOO!!! HE THINKS HE GOT A DAMN TALENT BUT ITS WORSE THAN FRED -____-*

  • I saw this, it was so sad but really good.

  • the words highly anticipated has been used a lot in traliers..

  • I felt like the last line completely ruined the entire movie. XD

  • I watched the original Jap dub with English subs.

No doubt the most memorable movie I've seen. The sweeping score, the lead character, and the mysterious guy.

The warehouse scene was totally magical.

  • @cenotaphofmist

It was directed by Satoshi kon, of course it's awesome! :D

  • Why is duke nukem talking about this film? :O

  • @hungoversundays You mean Tigger?

  • @hungoversundays wanna daaaance?

  • The crappy cheesy American voiceover ruins this trailer.

  • I actually have a tattoo of an image from this movie. I just got it to memorialize Satoshi Kon. He honestly did not get the respect he deserved while living. He was by far one of the greatest animators of all time, right up there with Hayao Miyazaki.

  • English voice acting, thank you for raping my ears.

  • @mekz22 haha thankyou for that comment! made me laugh.

  • It's one of the best anime that I've seen this year. Great story-telling, music and very creative. It has that happy moment and humor, and then that very depressing and sad moment. It now is one of my favorite.

  • @Tribbles182

I'm pretty sure the voice over guy in this trailer is Jim Cummings.

  • Lol, do I spot Papyrus there?

  • R.I.P Satoshi Kon

  • It's the fkn POPE

  • RIP Satoshi Kon :/

  • I remember watching this movie when I was only four years old, I didn't really get it back then.

  • @snakeboyguam10 no shit...

  • This film is so beautiful! star studded cast, brilliant music, fantastic animation and great story! it is one of my all time favorite films, anyone who watches it will love it.

  • man this anime was so confusing, incorporating part of her acting scenes with her real life experiences. It pisses me off so much that she never got to know the guy or even got to live with him......GOd dammit anime directors you guys make up some unique crazy storylines, would have liked it better if she got to live with him but I guess that's what makes it different from all the other anime movie's. good overall I guess, still made me both mad and sad!!!

  • i cried SO hard!! T__T

  • @MiyaniOhani lolwut?coolstorybro

  • cry everytime i saw this movie

  • RIP Satoshi Kon. Dude will be missed

  • Great Asian women for you **lushfmlk.info**

  • @sagamena agree, miyazaki films are excellent and i love them, but satoshi kon films are so strange, original and complex that a love them even more :D

    pd:sorry for my english :P

  • Excelent film, its truly the best anime i have ever seen and probably (and this is my opinion) my favorite animated movie (yeah even better that all the films that pixar has ever done). Satoshi Kon was a genius :D

    pd:sorry for my english

  • I loved how at the end chiyoko san said that " i love chasing after him the most." I was still crying but i was smiling too. :')

  • im surprised that dreamworks too on these film as its a anime film and its only in english subs. also its was a very beautiful film even sadder to watch the 2nd time!

  • Truly inspirational. Satoshi Kon certainly lives on through his masterpieces.

  • RIP satoshi :'{

  • i want to have the trailer song on my ipod so bad, but it's not a part of the soundtrack TT-TT

  • Well, maybe i'll watch this!

  • Man, his death will be my motivation to finding a cure for cancer...

  • @Murplelized there are dozens of methods to cure cancer...from diet to red clover tea..Its just that none of them are acceptable to the orthodix medical profession which prefers dangerous and inffective methods in the knowledge that the commmon man wont complain.

  • I want to have a copy of this movie.. i watched it a years ago but i want it now badly.. the best movie.... THUMBS UP!!

  • THIS FILM IS THE BEST I'VE EVER SEEN!!!! A GREAT FILM!

    REST IN PEACE, SATOSHI KON.

  • Rip Satoshi Kon,

    He was a legend!

  • Thank you for creating this masterpiece.

May you rest in peace, Satoshi Kon!

  • RIP Satoshi Kon

  • My first Satoshi Kon movie... I'm literally in tears now. I really wanted to see The Dreaming Machine also. I loved all of his movies. They were all masterpieces. May he rest in peace. He will definitely be missed.

  • @Amutofan123 his widow says she will try to get The Dream machine completed.

  • R.I.P Satoshi Kon.... Now my 2 out of 3 favourite directors are dead. FUCK this sucks....and so young.

  • R.I.P.

  • R.I.P. Satoshi Kon

  • R.I.P. Satoshi Kon. He was one of the most tallented animators of the history.

  • rip

  • Saddest news I've ever heard come from Japan. He died so young, but in his life he directed what I believe to be the best works in animation history. If Miyazaki is the best director for the younger audience then Satoshi Kon was the best director for the more mature audience, and that's why I prefer his works. I was looking forward to The Dreaming Machine too...

My most beloved anime director, one of the best film directors: Master Satoshi Kon... You'll be truly missed.

  • Too bad... Kon is dead.

  • Domo Arigato/Danke/thank you very much/Gracias Satoshi Kon, Rest In Peace.

  • Satoshi Kon T.T Why? Please Rest In Peace

  • rip kon

  • rip

  • R.I.P. Mr. Kon

  • R.I.P. )=

  • R.I.P Satoshi Kon

  • I was slightly confused when watching this movie, you have to piece all of the parallel events. I loved it though, I would watch it a thousand times over :3

    Superb!

  • art on movie <3

  • epic!

  • thnXXX for sharing!

  • It sucks that the music in the beginning is only on the DVD. It's so pretty!

  • Damn this movie for making me cry waterfalls. ;( Awesome film

  • one of the best movies EVER

  • What's the name of the first track that plays during the trailer?

  • loved the movie so much! it was so captivating!

  • I love this trailer.

  • One of the best movies i've ever seen!

  • I'm sure a lot have been asking this but, is the music that's in this trailer in the movie?

  • Comment removed

  • I'm afraid not. It seems to be an original piece of music created solely for the US advertising release. It plays on the DVD menu but is not part of the movie itself.

  • @aspect974 Ah, I should have just checked the comments more thoroughly. Darn... great piece of music...

  • I've seen that and it's amazing! And so sad at the same time!

  • true!

  • Ja, studio Ghibli is amazing.

You know, I saw the trailer for this at the beginning of "Kiki's Delivery Service" and wanted to see it. Now, years later, I'm going to watch it again.

    Anyway, it's a great movie

    :-)

    Hurrah~

  • Kiki's... I wanna see it. Darn, I want to see Ponyo. Just saw Howl's castle. Already seen Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro. (Wait, why Ghibli?)

Anyway, Mad House productions and Ghibli Studios creates the best anime movies (in my opinion).

  • I DID cry at the end. ;_;

  • @ToruKun1 As soon as I watched this video, I remembered watching it and I swear to you I said, "I cried" and then I read your comment XD

  • @ToruKun1 GAY

  • @Sl3nderman

    Jeez, you're a hater.

  • The one who created Paprika made this too?

  • Same director, Satoshi Kon.

he has also directed and partly written Paranoia Agent and Tokyo Godfathers

  • AHhhhh... Thanks.

  • @StarlingKnight:

LOL Paranoia Agent. I LOVED that one even though, my God, like Paprika, it totally blew my mind! I didn't know people could think like that! They were both amazing, though.

  • yes indeed. he's amazing.

  • For the love of God, I have been trying for years to find out the name/artist behind the song in this trailer!

It is maybe the one thing the internet has failed me on.

  • I'm not sure about the music in the trailer, but the opening and ending songs are by Susumu Hirasawa. Perhaps he was in charge of the entire soundtrack.

  • He was. It's an amazing soundtrack, too - highly recommend tracking it down. Probably the best anime soundtrack I've ever heard.

  • i think that satoshi kon draw much better than mihazaki, but the moral feauters of mihazaki films are surely advanced despite of satoshi's, I really was affected when I finished seeing "princess mononoke" and "howl's moving castle"..........

  • Love this movie *_*

  • This has got to be one of my all time favorite movies ever, not just anime but ALL movies. I rarely cry during movies, but this literally moved me to tears (I hate admitting that, but it was just THAT good). It was a little hard to get into at the beginning, but it definitely payed off. There is no excuse for not watching this movie. It is truly epic and mind-shatteringly beautiful in every sense of the word.

  • This is an INCREDIBLE movie!

  • It's such a good movie <33 i watched it minutes ago (L) such a beaitufll story the end was very sad=(

  • This was a good movie, but I liked Paprika better.

  • Paprika was good, but this, Tokyo Godfathers, and Perfect Blue were better than Paprika.

  • this film was so sad but so good!!!

  • the end of this made me cry T_T

  • I found it comedic and touching, with depth. Very well done, deserves the awards it won

  • Dreamworks and Anime. I would like to see this happen more often.

  • Yeah, this brings back memories.

  • I'm so lucky I have the DVD for this it is awsome.

    I loved it.

though I cried a little it was amazing I wuv it sooo much!!!!

  • Vaya pasada de peli para el cine?!??

  • what is the music in the trailer?
