  • Ugh I fucking love the way she sang this song! Took an unbelievable amazing song and made it different but still hella good. Shes so unique. Nice video, good job :)

  • Just about the only Dolly Parton song that I've liked.

  • as a man who grew up listing to rap, who can deny that this lady can blow chops. very nice version.

  • I hate it. Totally missed the point of the song... It's like fucking cirkus.

  • Nice version .

  • Holy shit, this is really good (not as good as the original.) But it still keeps the somberness of the Zepplin version.

  • Dolly's rendition is one of the best versions of Stairway to Heaven after Zeppelin. An it's hands down a thousand time better than Tiny Tim's attempt of this classic song.

  • Thanks Dolly!

  • I can't believe Dolly is singing a Zepplin cover and what I can't believe is that it's working with a country twang! No wonder Dolly's a legend! Who'd have thought to use a banjo, but it sounds good.

  • She sure did!...I never did like the song! I do now!!:)))

  • I could lay on those majestical tits forever

  • great cover

  • Great take on a GREAT song............

  • Love It Dolly Parton is F**in Great

  • @thepickinshed... I ABSOLUTELY AGREE.

@Mr4171974 I couldn't have said it better. It's just true.

  • Best version of this song for me. She totally made it into something I really like to hear^^

  • This song was originaly sung on a recording by Leadbelly. It was a working song sung in the fields. Threre are very few songs today that are not covers. So to wiswv do your homework before you give a bad comment.......

  • Zep covered plenty of others...... and claimed them as their own. I am more than impressed by this version. put your headphones on and enjoy!!!!

  • okay. what the FUCK happened to the solo and why did she completely butcher the end!!!!!????!!!!! this is why zeppelin, are the only ones that should be doing zeppelin.

  • @tghk3 Just so u realize a cover is a person´s unique take on a song. plus if ur one of those people who thinks that no one can do zeppelin better than zeppelin then why would u watch the video? by the way this is an awesome version!

  • MMM so Dolly does Zeppelin..

  • dafür das der Song nicht Coverbar ist hat Sie es sehr gut hinbekommen. MIR GEFÄLLST

  • I had my doubts about this, but was enjoying it until around 4:20. I think she lost the plot a bit in those last few minutes.

  • WOW! What a unique version of stairway. I never knew she covered this classic. The visuals uploaded with the song were just terrific. Nice work!

  • @GSellers100 Thank you very much :)

  • I think its wrong to cover this song. Its the song of Led Zeppelin!!

Its torrible to hear it without them :-(

  • anyone who favors Led Zeppelin's version, that's all well and good. But Zeppelin loved Dolly's version more, even claiming that Dolly couldn't screw anything up, and her version was the best.

  • ANYONE WHO DOESNT LIKE THIS SONG DOESNT KNOW SHIT ABOUT ZEP, OR MUSIC IN GENERAL!! FAKE-ASS SHEEP.

  • 123 people deserve to die

  • god effin damiit this is beautiful

  • i'm not much of a country fan, but THIS IS AWESOME. and to those who don't like it- listen to it again. i hated it the first time i heard it too.

  • Plant said that he liked this version so stfu guys

  • Very good version , she just saw it from different angle - that's all .

  • I'm just going to says it... I like it!

  • SHOULDN'T BE ALOAD!!!! END OF!!! NO DESRESPECT TO MISS PARTON BUT THIS SONG SHOULD BE LEFT ALONE. NEVER SHOULD BE COVERED BY ANY ARTIST!!!!! NUFF SAID!!!

  • THIS TOTALLY SUCKS!!!

  • the original of this by led zeppelin was the best song ever. and this happens. im in hell:(

  • Pathetic.

  • Why did they change some notes in the intro?

  • @csabaimate It's simply moved up. The key was changed. Other than that, I'm not hearing what you're talking about.

  • @Zernnt No, I'm sure that there are changes in the intro's E major chord and C major chord. Not the same notes. Compare with the original.

  • I'm neither an LZ or a Dolly fan - still, this is the most beautiful song I think I ever heard.

  • ಠ_ಠ

  • the biggest badass i know told me to check this out

i love lz's version but i in no way think she "ruined an amazing song"

she covered it, i doubt the haters would have such a problem with it if she wasnt known for doing country

  • some song should just be left alone :(

  • I think this is a wonderful and sensitive take on a classic song. It always amazes me that people will listen to a "cover " and then complain it is not the original.. The beauty of a great song or artist is the ability to trancend the moment and touch the human soul..Music is not static and people are not either... I like both versions. If a person prefers a particular version of a song then they should listen to it. Peace in all things.... Rick :~)

  • @1812richardk2 we aren't complaining because it's not the original,we are complaining that she ruined an amazing song

  • @seniorpibb If you read more carefully, that is not what I said....With all due respect she did not "ruin the song" That is simply a matter of taste.. To each his own.... Peace always Rick :~)

  • idk, i just dont FEEL this version like i do with led zeppelins original.

  • Without question THE most disgusting sound I have ever heard!!!!!!!!!!

  • i just dont feel the song like i do with Led Zeppelin

  • i mean is not bad, if you want to hear a bad cover listen to hillary duff my generation thats shit...

but i still think that if this were the original version it wouldnt be one of my favorite songs

  • i prefer the LEZ version this version sounds wierd

  • sorry no,,,this is blasphemy

  • Wow! There are a lot of haters. Dolly did a great job on an iconic song. Robert Plant gave it the ok. Just shut up and enjoy the music and quit acting like you are qualified to make any kind of comment on the talents or tastes of others. I always enjoy hearing other artists interpretations of great songs.

  • @minervajayne True dat

  • @minervajayne Well stated.... :~)

  • My friend and I absolutely love MediaOutletOnline for doonnlooading f~ree s0ngs similar to this. You all can search it using Google.

  • God, instrumental sucks and her voice is terrible. Way to trash an amazing song.

...you're fake rack is not going to make up for that.

  • @iKeroseneKisses I agree on the voice part... however the guitar work is rather good

  • This is by far the most horrible cover I have ever heard! Dolly give it up! They need to delete this from YouTube and save everybodies ears.

  • This was 5th on the " Top 10 worst cover songs" so i just had to check it out.

  • On paper, this should not work. At all. But so help me, it does....it sounds like a long-lost Appalachian folk song. Rock on, Dolly Parton!

  • amazing cover.....

  • Great cover. Love this more than the original version. Her voice is heaven <3

  • Dolly Parton matches - maybe even tops - the original.

Richard Plant and Jimmy Page must be proud as hell, uhmm... heaven!, to have their work interpreted this way! I know I would.

  • @Thetan1974 ..... Never heard of Richard Plant, but there is a Robert Plant.!!!

  • @dieoffright

    Sorry, my bad...

  • @Thetan1974

    Sorry, my bad...

  • DOLLY PARTON IS THE SHIT, YA HEAR?

  • So good.

  • she is the best female artist no one can do stairway to heaven remake like she can LOVE DOLLY

  • How Lame! She songs like a warbling leprechaun

  • There's a couple of things I've always loved about Dolly.

  • OMG Has Anyone Played This Song Backwards!!!!!!

  • dolly knocked this one out of the park no doubt!!!

  • Also, I found this cover because it was #5 on a list of WORST covers of all time. Zeppelin's Stairway was #1 on a list (from same website) of GREATEST Rock songs ever. I think I've made my point.

  • @Lurtzman1 So someone agrees with you. I think the same site (which had the Beatles outside of the top 3 on a best artists list) saying it's the best of all time loses credibility, because it makes them biased against any cover of this song. This is a very competent perfomance. Of course there are going to be people who aren't going to like it no matter how good it is because just they like the original.

  • @ilovekelly75 You are incorrect, the website he is referring to is Digital Dream Door and they have the Beatles at #1 of the greatest rock artists

  • @JakabBigShow Maybe for rock, but they are #4 on the overall list.

  • @ilovekelly75 I was not aware they had an overall list, if u would be kind enough to send me the url where it states that, i would be most appreciative

  • I get that some people like this, but whoever says this is better than Led Zeppelin's deserves to be deaf. Robert Plant is an infinitely better singer, John Bonham= Greatest Drummer Ever, John Paul Jones= best multi-instrumentalist, Jimmy Page= best guitarist still alive. Those who say this is better, probably never heard the original.

  • @Lurtzman1 People are entitled to an opinion. I think LZ's is better, but it's just my humble opinion. Another opinion is as to who's the better singer. The same website that said this cover was bad has Dolly as the 2nd bet female country vocalist ever. She was one of the few country singers to make Rolling Stone's list, a magazine which heavily favors rock. Find me one list of best country singers / vocalists / artists that doesn't have her near the top.

  • It s a sacrilege to cover this song. This MASTERPIECE can't be covered..LEAVE THIS HYMN WITHOUT COVER.SHE MAKED IT A CRAP....

  • @kostasmetal13 Robert Plant, who wrote the lyrics, praised Dolly's version of the song.

  • @40AcreMule Nobody can cover this song my friend. Some songs CAN'T be covered.I respect BIG Robert Plant's opinion, but i'm not agree. And i'm not the only one..And also, what about Jimmy Page's opinion, who wrote this HEAVENLY music, about this crap cover?I'm not sure that he's agree with his old mate Robert...

  • i laughed when i first heard this, but its actually pretty good. both led zeppelin AND dolly parton are good artists.

  • i heard dolly say in an interview when she was thinking of doing this song, she called robert plant, and robert gave his blessing, and actually said he and jimmy page saw stairway as a folk song, and when he heard the finished version, he loved it

  • i heard dolly say in an interview when she was thinking of doing this song, she called robert plant, and robert gave his blessing, and actually said he and jimmy page saw stairway as a folk song, and when he heard the finnished version, he loved it

  • aww, a nice video to get a good laugh at

  • i have yet to hear a song that dolly has messed up, she is simply awsome

  • i have yet to hear a song that dolly has messed up, she is simply awsome

  • Love Dolly. But she sounds like Dolly the sheep at the start. Does not capture the mood at all. Very sad.

  • I like the LZ version more, but this is amazing!! I was expecting this version to be shitty. I love the violin at the beginning :)

  • @scrib1234 Thank you. Years ago when my sister and I heard she remade it, we ran to the computer to download it to laugh and we thought she rocked it. Sorry, but her voice is lovely and she really added some nice layers with the banjo and choir.

  • @fifimsp I had a friend dying of cancer, just before she passed away, she heard this on TV and told me about it. I took her to my house and downloaded the song and we listened to it together. It was the only time she ever talked about God. After she passed away, I made this video for her.

  • @FladdSherrell That's very kind of you to make the video. Sorry about your friend. I've recently had loved ones die of cancer and now a co-worker I know got diagnosed. So, I understand.

  • The idea that there can be only one version of a song is ludicrous. What makes a great song is that it can be interpreted differently, by different people, and still stand up as a great song. The only disrespect for Led Zeppelin is the morons who think no one else should ever approach their music. That is the surest way to make sure music disappears into history.

  • Do we need this cover werson? I would say a big NO. The original is so much better. This didn't give me anything. Dolly has done some great things, but this is not one of them.

  • Magnificent! MUCH better than the original. Dolly Parton always manages to move me with everything she does.

  • dolly pardon, i purposely spelled her name wrong, is the WORST SINGER EVER.

  • @thefishlords No, she's the best singer ever ;-)

  • @RockAli22 Robert Plant likes it.

  • This might offend some but I seriously think that Justin Bieber can make a better cover. Seriously this bitch sucks balls.

It's sad to see people saying that this is an original song by her it seriously makes me rage

  • dolly is incredibly talented and free spirited, i wish i could meet her..shes my kind of people... :)

  • Dolly sang this song with a sensitivity she brings to everything she sings. She knows a great song like everyone else. I love this version. I don't think they are competing for a prize so I'll leave it at that.

  • Wonder what this one says backwards.

  • @millertimedavid74 Backward injected messages? I sincerely hope not ....

  • Great version of this song...as the words roll along, I feel like I'm in a story. Parton has taken a classic and made it her own in an equally impressive way. I pity those who can't sit and appreciate this work. Music is subjective, but there's no need to criticize. I'd like to see your versions of this song?

  • If Dolly were a current contestant on American Idol, Simon would've commended her for "taking a risk that worked." Go Dolly!

  • sweet devine mother of jesus....

  • if you whitney housten fans want to bitch about her go bitch about her on her song boards!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Love the LZ version and also love this. Great pictures on the graphics.

  • @shirley4589 Thank you very much :)

  • This sucks big time. Whitney Houston owned Dolly on her own song "I will always love you" so what makes Dolly think she can cover Led Zepplin's classic "Stairway to Heaven"?

  • Dolly's version is superior to Zepplins

  • @TheJimrushing Dolly got owned by Whitney on her own song "I will always love you", so what makes you think she is on the same level as the greatest rock band of all time. Led Zepplin are geniuses of rock music, Dolly Parton is genius of nothing. Look at Led Zepplin's lineup - Jimmy Page is one of the top 5 guitarists of all time, the drummer Jon Bonham is arguably the greatest drummer of all time, John Paul Jones is regarded as the greatest bassist and Plant is one of the great singers of rock.

  • Dolly's version is superior to Zepplins

  • o...m...g whyy???

  • A great version, well done Dolly Parton and it is an honour to Led Zeppelin. Wonderful songs deserve to be interpreted by great artists. It adds to the original genius.

  • great version...well arranged...

  • I'm still recovering...; )

  • Ok, I thought she would kill the song but she pulled it of amazingly. I love that she put her own touch to it and made it work!!

  • i dont useualy like covers but she did the song justice....im a child of the 60s i grew up on zeplin.... very very well done ms parton

  • What happens in the solo just breaks my heart...

  • @MeIcarus52 Kudos for making it that far. I couldn't.... would have killed me.

  • this is not a cover. check the credits. I bet you all think nazereth wrote love hurts too

  • @Lostace007 God man, I hope you're joking. Page had the idea for a long ballad with drums coming in toward the end. Once he had a melody he sat and played it for Plant over and over. It's said that Plant wrote 90% of the lyrics in less than an hour. If you're joking...it's not funny.

  • yes, the SCTV stairways to heaven has finally come true.

now let's hear the village people's version of this song.

  • Why did I listen to the entirety of this.

  • Great song ! - Like it!*****

    Karlheinz , Canada

  • I have to admit, I'm kinda 50/50 on covers, but when done well they can be great. Look how well W/ Houston covered I will always love you. That said, I love Dolly but I really thought she was gonna be out of her league her, I was wrong. This was most impressive. But that's why the greats are the greats, remember the grammy's when Aretha sang Nessun Dorma, I still get chills when I hear that and I don't know anything about Opera.

  • Disgusting.

  • This isn't horrible, And some artists do consider covers the highest form of flattery. Except for you Shook me all night long by Celine Dion. That version would even burn the devil's ears.

  • there's a difference between covering a song and completely rearranging a song

  • Simply simple and true.

  • I really don't understand why non-musicians seem to have such problems with covers. The original musicians themselves often truly like a cover of their music. They seem to be much more open to interpretations different from their own than those who seem to be here simply to dis music they don't understand.

  • @walkshe Well then why do you Dolly Parton fans keep bitching about Whitney Houston brilliant cover version of "I will always love you"? You are a bunch of hypocrites. Both Led Zepplin and Whitney Houston had way more talent than Dolly Parton

  • @WhoLueYou Gee, I don't remember ever bitching about Whitney's cover. Actually, I've never complained about anyone's cover. I judge them each fairly, standing on their own merrit, and I learned long ago if I don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all. I don't leave negative comments for ANYONE!

  • Comment removed

  • @aennil25 No, Lucifer take her.

  • @drumsolo049 What???

  • Shiiiittttt............

  • ugh, it's ear killing music, excuse me while i turn look up beiber

  • i'm no big dolly parton fan (wife loves her) but this is one of the best renditions i've ever heard. awesome

  • good but led zepplin still ftw with this song

  • Any song can be redone, and , by the way, Robert Plant LIKES this version. Perfection inspires imitation. It really isn't THAT bad of a cover, could've been done by Crash Test Dummies. . . .

  • Houston has a problem.......

  • this blows. when is youtube gonna remove it?!

  • OUCH!

  • PURE SUCK. THIS SONG PUNCHES BABYS IN THE FACE.

  • It's obvious the only people who like Led's version better are crack heads. The Houston press stated her version was better, you can google it by searching under Houston Press 10 greatest country covers that topped the orignial pop recordings. No disrespect to Led, but I just listened to both versions and I have to say Dolly did do a kickass job on this song.

  • @bubbam20 Well, there's no arguing with that. If the Houston press says it's good it must be. Jesus...

  • Tried to be objective on critics but THIS IS BULLSHIT!

  • my poor ears, she can sing but nobody should sing this song but led

  • great vocalist but not a song i think anyone but led should be doing

  • grear version

  • Thank you.

    5*****.

    Jennie.

  • WORST PIECE OF GARBAGE EVER.

  • dolly you're the best <3

  • dolly you're amazing. i love this. always have xx

  • She sounds like one of those poor cabaret acts you'd expect on holiday.

  • Worst!!

  • wow dolly parton needs to shut the fuck up, and stick to whatever the fuck she does.

  • And THIS is why men think women are retarded.

  • @AnonimoABestia And I think the best retarded here is you

  • @AnonimoABestia SHUT UP YOU BASTERD

  • @pjz11261231

    Hahaha. :D

  • @AnonimoABestia

so either you're gay, or you fuck retards?

  • @AnonimoABestia Hey now Dolly is a legend, you bow to her ...nothing else HA!

  • @AnonimoABestia Because they don't have taste?

  • One I 'm amazed. It turned out alot better than I would 've ever imagine. Two, its got a dark appalachian feel to it. Almost a appalachian funeral feel to it.

  • I was extremely curious about Dolly covering this song. The LZ version is an all-time classic but, I have to admit, this version surprised me. I have always loved Dolly's voice and hearing her version of this rock classic was awesome. Both versions give me that spine tingling feeling. Way to go Dolly!

  • well I'm no fan of Dolly's, and though Led Zeppelin original will always be the best version of this (no controversy there!) Dolly covered this well I think, hell I like it!

Robert Plant said "'You know, the thing is that she's not wailing -- she's keeping it within the genre, and she's a good singer. Maybe she didn't get the last bit properly, and maybe that's sort of how the idioms have changed so much, that maybe it doesn't matter -- maybe that's the way to do it.''

  • think Dolly is an angel

  • that is... an odd choice for her to cover.

  • @GakkiSai Guess you don't know about he
