  • I love this website, here we can get instant access to over
16,000 woodworking plans and projects!

  • House of cards are not helpful.

  • This is exactly what I have been searching for, great video.

  • they dont make it like this anymore

  • Easier way to make a more hurricane-safe house. Make it round with carefully designed roof. House sheds wind around it instead of acting like a sail, catching it.

  • Very good instructional video. Well done!

This video is part of a Power Point presentation created by the IASC Haiti Shelter Cluster committee. I have several questions:

    1. How much does it cost to build? Cost per square foot?

    2. How long does it take to build? And by how many people?

    3. Has this house been wind tested for Cat 2 or 3 hurricanes and what were the results.

  • LMAO! A true comedian

  • thank you very much

  • very helpful and excellent vid.

  • I learn some from this video...Thank you for the nice video..and instruction..

  • i think this house doesen`t cost more then 1000$

  • This way of building wooden houses isn´t as good as it should be. It´s like a Cabin in the garden. As a home for living in, it must be built much stronger. Lock at way of building wooden houses in Germany, Switzerland and Norway.

  • Completely agree with you. And for an office in the garden or another external building neither. It's horrible outside and inside. The wooden beams not have appropriate thickness for a durable home.

  • Jamaica is not Switzerland, you know... so this tutorial is pretty adequate to building techniques used by jamaicans and to the most popular type of housing there.

I'm sure concrete bunker with 2 feet walls will be invincible to hurricanes, but you really mus consider costs and material availability if you want to be actually useful.

  • you are not aware of places like haiti are you. haiti is very poor and is hit by natural disasters frequently! this way is strong and cheap for the country. as for the size, this is just an example

  • @Hanswuuschd true, i'm a timber frame building designer in the UK and can say that most T/F buildings in the UK are engineered better than this to withstand the winds we get (not really that strong) but I suppose that when compared to a shack, this is introducing some good standard techniques rather than cobbling something together. Nice video.

  • that was awesome, hope it helps those in need.

  • that was an awesome illustration.

  • sweet video
