@vaulter520 yeah man you are asking for a dislocated shoulder or compressed spine. Learn how to boof. Then you'll realize why this makes absolutely no sense.
"Ok, so maybe the technique is not that great for higher drops, but I have done this several times, and not even a hint of pain...It is a blast, and if you don't want to do it; don't."
Dont go on any drops, not even the little ones cause your gonna get spine compression.
Hey I was about to go off about shitty launch technique but I think alot of people beat me to the punch. Yeah, big no no!
Try leaning forward (not back) and keeping your arms bent and low as if you in the sweep roll setup position.
Yeah that isn't a very big seal launch on the Kan but that burning man position could still mess you up good if you piton or land flat never mind dislocating your shoulders.
U stupid idiots!Never do that. It's so bad for your shoulders n back! But if u want to cripple urself go right ahead! Ive been kyaking since i was 3 years old, sure tha might only b 12 yrs but i no wot 2 do nd wot not 2 do!
thats a nice way too, be on a path too break your back.. plus he is wright if you want too be paddling in five years time, dont do the burning man (holding paddle's over head)
Boy, is that crap technique. Whoever is teaching you guys should be shot. I am serious, air bracing is just soooo bad for your shoulders. If you want to be paddling in 5 years, wise up before any of you wreck your shoulders. I'm serious, this is for your own good.

What are you talking about...It doesn not hurt one bit. Your boat breaks the surface tension of the water. It hurts less than if you were to jump of the 5m wihtout a boat.

Yeah this is what happens when a great idea is thought up by inexperienced people who are gonna get hurt.

Have you never heard of protecting your back and shoulders.

What would you suggest to do different? Have you ever put down your beer long enough to try a seal launch?
