In terms of quality, longevity, refinement and attention to detail, both the Lexus and your friend's Mercedes blow the Equus out of the water. You should have waited for the new LS coming out in a year or so, but the Equus is still inferior to the car it attempts to clone: the current ~5 year old Lexus LS. For the price though it's a nice car.

However, they have gone one further for clients that think as you do. The car is a milestone and needs to be earmarked. We now have a parts code for the actual winged emblem that Rises from the hood a la Rolls and Jaguar.
