No offense intended, but this video made me bust out laughing, especially the statement is "This bus is high powered and it uses gasoline." I mean really? The other one is "A lot of nice stuff in here." Really? What am I going to do with twin window fans?
as a former D.O.T inspector i can tell you that if you can smell gas inside the bus then the bus has a gas leak somewhere and should not be in service thats what the pre and post trip inspections are for and considering it's a school bus i would say that someone is in deep shit
When I first started jr. high we had a bus similar to that one, an old crappy bluebird but it was a diesel, we ended up getting a new driver and a newer bus about a week later, luckily to because that old bus brokedown for a while, it was off the road from winter to almost summer. Thankfully the better bus came with a better driver.
I drive a chevy bluebird the one that makes the screetching sound i think it is not older than a 1998 but i also think its possibly in a 1994 condtion. gluse this video rocks i love the cranke though my bus has in but it only has 1 emergeny exit the back door.
I ride the short bus and da make us close r eyes when they open the door or closes the door now I know how to open the door he he haha can't wait to go back on the bus
The last gas powered FE i remember riding was an '85 Bluebird FE, and judging by the body of the bus and the gauge cluster i would say this bus is must be a early 90's model or very late 80's. If only i knew when BB stopped putting gas engines in their FEs then i wouldn't be questioning if the bus really is gas powered.
When we got our brand new IC REseries, they had to literally regut the whole engine system, it was in the shop for a year! It sucked. Our sub. was a permanent Thomas Vista which i absolutely LOVE!!
Blue Bird made buses powered by Chevy big block gas engines untill the chassis agreement ran out in the early 2000's. Most of them went to southern states. They still offer natural gas powered spark ignited engines.
No, do not think they did either, at least not in recent history. The gas powered unitsI spoke of were all conventionals. It would be interesting to know, as all the tranisits I have seen were diesel since i was a kid in the 80's. Around here, diesel, as well as transits, did not gain popularity untill the late 80's. I am sure somebody on here will know when gas engines disappeared from TC's. GM offered gas in thier FC bus chassis, but I never saw one.
I once saw a 94' Gas TC2000 in a junkyard. Only had 77,000 miles on it, but had an electrical fire. Had a 427 and the axel ratio was 7.17, which is real low. My diesel TC is at 4.33.
Judging by the guages in this video, this bus is at least a 94' and no newer than a 99'.
Somehow I doubt they do, because I've never seen one in person or otherwise, at least a cabover design. Maybe the little spedsled busses do, but I thought gasser busses were all but gone. I heard partly due to more dangerous fuel, mostly for fuel economy. But if he says so.... (Remember: "Real engines don't have spark plugs".)
i miss the old blue birds in sc now the streets are being over taken by the new thomas safe-t liners they are garbage cause i see them broken down on the interstate all the time GO BLUEBIRD!!
i know what you mean my bus driver has a thomas saf t liner C2 its brand new and its been to the garage 5 times for repairs not counting all the other rimes its went because it uses so much oil thomas buses is the only type of bus that the county i live will mainly buy anymore for the bus drivers to get bluebird, or international buses they would have to be used
I think we have the blue bird bus but they are the 2004 model they have the new door but its no automatic what was that noise it sounded like someone was talking on the radio or something I always here it on my bus and the driver ignores it he almost ran a red light

I think, and I may be wrong, but I think the engines in the few that were gas were Ford Engines.

Gas powered buses arent made today. They stopped that years ago. The bus he was showing had to have been an 80s model TC/2000 FE.

I worked for Blue Bird in 1995 - they were still building gas busses, but not very many. The few they did build were mostly for LP gas conversion.

Yeah... from what Ive heard and seen every single TC2000 ever made had the 5.9 Cummins Diesel
