I love Ayrton's comment, it shows you the way he thought about racing, almost arrogant sounding but Senna is also one of the few racing drivers with the pure statistics to back up his words.
Senna chose against IndyCars because he was not comfortable racing at over 200 mph just inches from a concrete wall 100% of each lap. On road and street circuits, he would have been an instant contender no doubt, but he didn't fancy the ovals. Ironically, he struck a concrete wall in Imola at about 120 mph, though the suspension piece was the cause of death.
I'd like to see more F1 racers come to The Speedway! Maybe Rubens Barrichello?
@mbas0507 Just a correction... Ayrton Senna came off at 313 km/h and smashed into the wall at a speed unknown but estimated between 187 and 220 km/h.
The "twist of fate" was that a part of the front suspension entered between the visor and the helmet, violating his skull. Not only, in the impact the right front tire forced the cockpit and smashed it also onto his helmet.
The first thing (suspension) made a big wound into his head. The second (tire) made the rear skull fracture.
I disagree. Al Unser Jr was F1 potential. Much more so than Michael Andretti, because Jr was gifted in cars that were not race winners. A soon as he drove for Penske, he obliterated the opposition i9n 1994, including Nigel.
i only came here cause of the thumbnail lol :)

Kind of crazy that Mansell was at Indy one year from when the video was taken.

Senna would've had no competition in Indycar, but it would've been great to see him there. Only if...

Senna should have gone Indy racing. He would have been spectacular in CART.

@JoeytheHDK i never thought of it really but that's such a great point, i reckon he would have been sensational!!!

Had Senna entered the 1993 Indy 500 with Penske, he would've wiped the floor with all of them, including Mansell!
