  • Hi Aunty! I just looked at this recipe (I went to an Indian restaurant it was truely amazing!) and I was wondering, how do you make it have a garlic taste with a buttery taste also? When I tried it at the restaurant it was more puffy and soft in the inside? Any ideas why?

  • Thank you for your great recipes!!

  • hello aunty!!!!

  • I tried this and it's really good. Make sure you are on broil and not just 500 degrees and also don't make them too thin. I used a pizza stone. What a great recipe and demonstration! I will be making these again.

  • Hi aunty namaskar, can we use aluminum paper instead of pizza stone, for naan .please tell us simply availabel work material which we can use.thanks

What should I do if I don't have Pizza stone?

  • @Susmagiri

use baking sheet and turn the Naan for about half a minute after it is baked from top

  • @Susmagiri Hello after many tries , i used one baking pan for pizza or not in one inverted position this go to make the same process of one stone pizza , you go to turn on your oven with this inside , after 3 min you go to put your naan over this baking pan and you go to see the same happen, but take care for not to burn your hands. Try and tell me

  • @Susmagiri don't waste your money on apizza stone !!!! £50.00+ you can buy a 30cmx30cmx15mm GRANITE tile from your local hardware/tile store.£4.99 just be sure when using ,put the stone in a cold oven,'unfinished' side up to bake on & crank up the heat to maximum..bake your recipe ,naan, rothi , or pizza !! leave the stone to cool in the oven & when cleaning your stone don't use soap or detergent, just hot water & leave to dry ! after each use the results get better and better! happy baking XX

  • ....... tank u cum agin!

  • nice one..aunty..i hv question that can we used wheat flour instead of all purpose flour..???give me ur ans..i ll wait..

  • @meghamalkan

Wheat flour generally has a higher gluten content than all purpose flour, so you may need to cut back on the amount of wheat flour used.

  • hi aunty can we make this nan without oven.please aunty reply.

  • Hello Manjula

We did the same thing and Naan stuck to the pizza stone. It did not fluff and I kept it in the oven for almost 25 minutes. Not yammy at all. Not sure what I did wrong.

    Uma

  • Can u please tell if the naan has to be baked or broiled?

  • @meghamyworld she said to put it on broiled. =)

  • @meghamyworld

She Broiled it. I however preheat the oven with the clay stone in on Bake at 475 (the highest setting for bake on my oven) for about 15 minutes and then I flip it to broil and cook the naan bread. I find it saves of the bill at the end of the month.

  • @chefsamiboy

WHERE CAN I BUY A CLAY STONE?

  • @SocaDiciple at amazon com : search for "Old Stone Oven 14" by 16" Baking Stone"

  • @SocaDiciple --You can purchase baking stones at any store that has a good supply of bakeware such as Crate & Barrel, JCPenney or Macy's. You can also get them from Amazon. These are usually used for baking pizza.

  • Is that instant rise yeast or active dry? Can I use either kind?

  • thank you behna aap kush rahe i realy like your dishes being kashmiri we love our food shukiryaa naeem

  • wish I had found you year ago I see that you had a cooking school/demonstration in San Diego..I am on the border of San Diego county in San Clemente and would have flown like a bird to your event are you having any more cooking events in future?

  • Thank you so much for posting these! My family and I LOVE Indian food and don't know much about it. These recipes are a great way to venture into Indian cuisine with wonderful results :-)

  • Thank you Manjula I will make it very soon:-) stay blessed I look forward to more great tasty dishes from you

  • That turned out well, I will try this recipe.

  • are tandoors also required to make naans like how they do in restaurants?

  • Auntyji, Can you film some sweets in the next videos. Would love to know how to make sutarfeni, ghevar and balushahi. Thanks.

  • YAY!! I just found your channel...and I LOVE Indian food, but I don't know how to make it, so now I am very excited!!

  • Manjulaskitchen.... this is such an easy recipe. I am not quite sure why I had always had this predisposition that it's so hard to make naan. How silly of me. Also, tosee? It's a bit soury, and think it's fermented? Do you know of the recipe? Thanks so much!!

  • hello aunty

what we can use instead of pizza stone to make naan.

  • Hello Manjula,

Thanks for the yamy and easy bread, what is the difference between all propose flour and the normal wheat flour?

  • Manjula Aunty, Can we use microwave for Nans

  • Wow! I have always wondered how to cook the Naan without the earthen oven. Thank goodness I came across your youtube video and didn't think that one can bake it on a pizza stone. Duh! I will be making this at home all the time. It is so simple. Thank you, Manjulaskitchen.

  • Hi Manjula. Thanks for the video. Just a suggestion. Since I live in Delhi, for me no naan is complete without toppings.

Ask ur viewers to top their naan individually with kalonji (onion seeds), Khuskhus (white poppy seeds), til (sesame seeds), charmangaz (melon seeds), cheese, coriander, etc before popping in the oven and watch the magic.

  • wat do u do if ur dough is thin after the 4 hours?

  • @DoubleE4eva

    Add some all purpose flour.

  • nice! will have to try this!

  • I found your website last week and I am sooo going to try this recipe this coming weekend!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!! :) I am also going to trade in my tortillas for Naan bread!

  • @mamacita32822 Me, too. I am so excited that this flat bread has many universal uses. I like my naan bread soft and not crispy, I think I may have to shorten the baking time to 2 mins.

  • Hello, Manjula,Thank you so much for sharing your recipes with us....its so nice to learn from a wonderfull cook!!! Have a a great day!!! :)

  • I tried this...I can't say it is not nice, it is very nice actually, but I got more like pizza d ough rather than naan, what happen????? Help pls!

  • nice video....very clear and detailed....loved watching it...im from sweden and this is going to help me make my own naan...thumps up!!!! cheers madam.!

  • Pita is leavened. The main difference is the yogurt, which makes the naan have a creamy texture and creamy taste.

  • @WoundedEgo I agree with you, I have made this recipe many times it's the best, I think that baking powder will give it a diffrent texture and the yogurt in this recipe make them soft cream yummy

  • Those do not look like any naan i saw before. I made some already and I did not use oil not baking soda. I'll stick with my recipe thanks.

  • @Tininbadoo wow, now wasn't that the most completely unnecessary comment ever.

  • I made naan before din have to use baking soda and oil.

  • Though your naan looks great, it's not like the soft naan that's usually served in Indian restaurants. Yours looks like pitta bread.

  • Manjula, it looks like pita bread, is it similar?

  • @wontinga I don't think Pita is leavened

  • thank you very much for the recipe...locely bloq you got

  • please tell from where to get pizza stone?????what it is made of metal? is it metallic or ceramic? round one is ok?

  • @sheetalgahalyan They're available at most kitchen stores. They're made from ceramic or clay, not metal, and they're either round, square, or rectangular. My pizza stone is round. The only disadvantage to cooking naan or khubz a'rabii on the round stone is that there is not a lot of room for multiple pieces of bread. They're easy to find online, too.

  • Where do you put the dough to rise , and what do you cover it with ..where can I buy the stone from ???

  • unti..thank you for the yamy nan..

bit confius I heard you saying baking soda...and baking powder also which one is tea spoon and table spoon..sorry if I did nt understand..thank you.

  • @rakhello

Bottom of the video screen in center you will see the word more just click and you will see the list of ingredients.

  • Namaste Aunty

is it possible to prepare freeze the dough?? thanks!

  • hello Aunty ,i want to ask can we use any other thing instead of yeast

  • hi aunty,

i did everythng as u said except the pizza stone as i dont hav it.. is der anythng else i can use, i tried with the normal dish bt its not coming the same its very hard from both sides

  • Thank you for sharing the recipe! I am always spending so much money buying several packs of Naan for our meals - bu now, I will invest in a stone and make them myself. Thanks!

  • First you said "baking soda" then you said "baking powder"...which one is it?

  • Great vid, is that a 'cooking stone' in the oven? where do i get one?

  • Dear Manjula,

If I plan to make a large dough so that I can have ONE Naan everyday in a week (without toiling to make the dough everyday) what is the "best" method of storing the dough? In the refrigerator or freezer, wrapped or unwrapped?

    Your advice appreciated.

  • Wonderful, wonderful recipe. You make this look so easy! Thank you so much for posting.

  • @laxerbra3ad There are flavored naans that you can make--but the real, traditional naan that you start with is the one shown here.

  • Hello Manjula,

I just made the Naan bread and it came out great.

    Thank you

  • I have been making Indian Food for many years but I am going to make your naan recipe tomorrow. as I have never made Naan at home before. I'll post you my opinions in a couple of days

    Many thanks Dick from Whittington

  • @laxerbra3ad Garlic tastes very good.
