I visited their web page it talked about the story of the Romonovs as if a great free history lesson was done for public. However they never mention how did the property of Romonovs ended on their auction table or how carefully they checked the authenticity of ownership before claiming it theirs. I am an ardent devotee of antiques but will never purchase something that is rightfully others. I will never buy any of their things if someday my path should cross theirs, unless they stop.

This set of furniture ended to Bukowski's auction table when the descendants of those who bought them from the Bolsheviks sent them there and wanted to sell them. The staff at Bukowski investigated these and found out their original owners (the Romanov family)...

I agree with you that they should not be sold at all, instead, they should be returned immediately to descendants of the Romanov family or to the Hermitage museum.

And the thing about another guy claiming the ownership of these, unfortunately, is quite common in Finland. His / her motive is clearly just to get money.

And, by the way, there has been another finding of Winter Palace furniture here in Finland this autumn... 12 pieces that belong to the same series as this one in the video... and it's also going to be auctioned.

Many called reputable company is not reputable, ethical or honest enough to even own an auction house. I think the countries which houses these company should scrutinize all their sales.

Im an ardent devotee of antiques but I got brains not to purchase stolen goods. I wonder who will be making their way to the auction for their doom even after knowing they are purchasing stolen goods.

Maybe those who purchased these from the Bolsheviks in 1920s did not realise that they were stolen... hard to tell because we don't know.

And I think they should be returned (NOT sold) directly for the descendants of the Russian Imperial family immediately, since they are the rightful owners.

I agree with you maybe many didn't know the history. I hope now they do and will not make purchases blindly.

I absolutely agree that they should not be sold but returned. However, say even if Im Romonov descendant and sincerely care about protecting the property of Tsar, then I would have it placed at museum for all to enjoy viewing it. Also I would not want anyone to accuse me of claiming it for personal gain. In this greedy world intention has to be displayed in crystal clear form.
