  • She drew the picture when she was in 3rd grade (i can read chinese). Why'd it take so long for her to get adopted?

  • @Alixxxneverland She was in 3rd grade at age 13 (drew it the day the referral picture was taken). Orphans are not regularly sent to school. And thousands of Chinese orphans "age out" at 14-years of age without ever being adopted.

  • @llsgroi oh i'm sorry to hear that :( is she adjusting well to school now? what grade is she in now?

  • this is a wonderful story of adopting older children! :)

  • love this story yet its so sad was wondering if they are 14yrs can't you still try to adopt them or they just take them out the system on the whole

  • @vicky5338

Hi. At 14 years old, as I understand it, the children are no longer eligible for government funding for their care in the Orphanage and Foster Care Systems. They are on their own as citizens of China. They cannot be adopted through international adoption and are subject to the same processes that any chinese person would have to go through if they were to acquire citizenship in another country. It would be nearly impossible for them to do on their own.

  • Another Question: What Web Do U Go To Adopt?

  • There are many places to go for more information regarding Domestic or International Adoption. We used FTIA (Families Thru International Adoption) and Madison Associates.

  • @llsgroi Thaanks(:

  • Aww The Poor Thing

  • wHERE dO tHEY Go If tHEY Are Over 14 :( Plz Answer

  • @babygirl5282 Thank you for sharing our experience and your kind words. The answer to your question is: where ever. Their support just stops. Some go to factories if lucky(sort of), some get married off to farmers (hard life), some just glob onto friends/foster families (informally) getting what they can and finding money for food where they can. Many end up pregnant. It is sad.
