@PAPerTURKeY, get a bear archery charge. It shoots great and is low budget if your serious about it. Also you need to practice ALOT because it is important to be confident in your shot and to know exactly where you arrow is going to go.
boy i wish i had the opporutunity to hunt in a spot as goodthat one.on average i see one deer or 2 a day. And thats after sittin for 6 hours. Cant drive to public land, not old enough to drive yet. biggest buck ive seen so far where im huntin is a 3 point with 4" tall antlers (spike with a little brow tine comin in) but i hunt for meat mostly,or a buck bigger than the one i killed last. No spikes or forks
Hey man nice buck, good shot, I know if I would be trying to put a broad head together in my stand with gloves on i would have dropped at least 2 of the blades and lost them in the leaves lol
see people have no idea about deer a one year old can't start out as a monster they have to start some where duh and they call their selfs hunter the saying once a spike always a spike bull shit they will see thier prime time and they will be a monster
@Joseph6151 I thought only in PA was that line of thinking! I feel PA does have it's share of genetically inferior deer, however, since they implemented our antler restrictions I personally believe I'm seeing bigger racks!
@aaaaa0000000000 Thank you see am not the only one that believes that people thank that they start out six and eight points thats not true if thats the case then button bucks will always be button bucks
I can see why we dont shoot spikes. But, man you can't eat horns. Dont get me wrong I like to kill a good buck now and then but you can't eat horns and we shoot anything with forked horns. Puttin' meat in the freezer! Nice video man!
@TheDogHunter22 The only thing i have to say about that is that in some areas theree are so many deer that are so predicatable that if you can get on the right trail you can se 5 -10 deer a night. Shooting the first one you see means your tagged out really quickly. Now its not like that in my area , at all but i've heard of that being true , and if that was the case i don't se why you wouldn't hold out for a certian kind of deer. Me i'd take be taking 2 1/2s if i had the choice .mmmmm
@oo1tracker001 You're right. I read the same report. Kind of interesting.
Genetics play a big role, but more bucks than you realize DO have the genes to become big, they just lack nutrition and time to grow. I know here in AR ( also where this vid is) there's a 3 point rule. But that doesn't make a difference. It actually hurts the population. People should learn to age deer on the hoof and harvest 4 1/2 year old plus deer regardless of antler size. Before long you'll be seeing 140+ deer regu
I read a study that was done on yearling spikes and fork horns. The study was done on the outcome of antler growth from yearling to maturity. And regardless of being a spike or forkhorn as a yearling, most of the bucks achieved racks into the 130's at maturity. They even concluded that after 2 1/2 or 3 1/2 years, a deer will not develop more points than he already carries. Of course, there will always be exceptions in nature.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
as much as everyone loves those trophy racks, and its a beautiful deer you shot, if you had a shot at that spike you should have taken that deer instead, as most hunters kow spikes are degenerate breeds, they only make more spikes and its best to get rid of them first
That is a true misconception my friend. We keep up with our bucks on a very strenuous level. We've had hundreds of spikes as year and a half olds and within' 3 years they'll be 10 points main frame just like this. In Arkansas it's very common to see such a thing. It's not until they hit the 2 year old mark that we start culling out spikes through 6 points. Even then I'm sure some of the 6 points would've been great 8's but we're trying to grow rock solid 10's. Been doin' it for 20 years now.
I am from kansas and the reason why i think we have such big bucks is because we have so much farmland. I dont normally go for trophy bucks but the average point of a buck that usually goes through my hunting area which is only 5 acres is 8 points.
@Outdoorvideomaster hey man nice video im a 13 year old boy who has never been hunting before and im trying to look for a nice quality low budget bow, thanks
In PA there is an atler restriction (no clue where these guys are) so you COULDN'T shoot the spike even if you wanted to. 2nd, it is common, not definate that that deer would have matured into a small "degenerate" buck. Not to mention that it had atleast one browtine making it not a spike. And according to an article published in F&S on this subject, if a deer grows just one point on its spikes it makes a huge difference in mature size.
@aviator052003 haha i read that in a book but its not true, you neaver see a 200 puond spike buck in the woods do u , dosnt make sence, it might mean you dont have amazing jeenz but that deer was a year and 1/2 old next year he will be a 6 or 8.
Earn money? Heck no brotha! We eat em'. Deer is by far some of the healthiest meat you can get. No fats and for dang sure no chemically enhanced beef or such. You ain't had nothin' till you've eaten deer venison!!!!!
@Outdoorvideomaster Fact is, till it's all said and done, With land and deer management, not to mention gear, and your time deer harvesting, venison maybe the most costly meat on the market! However I can't get enough tenderloin and we have a guy up here that makes dry beef thats to die for!
@TmTinablink And I tend to spend way more on gas, gear and time then it would take to buy a side of beef! BUT - it is so much fun, SO challenging, I don't care. I eat em, but hunting them is the best part!
@laxlag16 im 16, i can draw 62 pounds, but, i struggle. i can barely pull it and im not out of shape. i have to like wiggle and shit. you cant do that in the woods. go for like 45-50 because 40 lbs is minimum for the law, and they wouldnt let you hunt deer with a bow thats not strong enough to kill.
That can be some pretty exciting tree standing...when you have not only plenty of Deer come in but as well you have a history with a certain Buck or Doe. Sure can make for a great hunt and definitely did in this case.
Awesome footage...great shot and beauty Deer, congrats.

Hey brotha you didn't pay attention to what we were saying. We stated that if we were to let him grow another year he'd been a 150 class buck. Raymond past him the year before as a 120 tops. He netted 142 and 1/8 and is in Pope and Young.
