@Trouble85490 the whole blame goes on the the parents of the individuals.Indian and Pakistani parents are the only people outside their country who like to speak to their children in English[lame accented].I have observed Arabs,East Europeans and Asians[of course not Indians and Pakistanis]converse with their children in their MOTHER TONGUES,respectively.Indians think speaking someone'else's mother tongue to their children is going to get them respect and status.NADA.

@syas13 Indian parents speak to their children in English because their own mother tongue is very complicated. It becomes difficult for parents to converse at times. I am not saying that English is less complicated but English is a language which is very versatile and can be modified to suit little children. It then becomes a part of your life as you grow older and then people find it difficult to switch back to their native language.

@syas13 : I think you're misconstruing why we (Indians and Pakistanis) like speaking in English. We do it because ever since the British left out country, the way to work yourself up the ladder was to speak English.
Having said that, let me remind you we have 22 languages and many dialects. There's a huge debate in the South where people don't accept Hindi.
So we're not ashamed of our language, we just want to do better for ourselves and for our families. Hope that clears it something.

@syas13 : Well it's fine if you think so but I don't think you should generalise on the basis of the people you've met. If you ever come to India, you'll find that many people speak more than one language (Urban and Rural). The same goes for Pakistanis.
I don't know where you're from but from my limited travels, I've never come across a country which commonly speaks more than one language and can still boast of what you've stated.
