I loved Shia LaBeouf in the beginning of his career, when he was on project greenlight. It does seem that success brought the inner-pompous in him, but then again the Yellow Press sometime makes us see celebrities the way they want us to see.
Penn shares with us his day-to-day thoughts, we get to know more about him and see who he really is. But like you, I had always regarded Penn as a wonderful human being, this YT channel just fortifies my belief :)

No, I think that is what show business should be. Being famous on stage or in a public forum is completely "show business" but being an arrogant prick in a more private setting is a put off. If someone is constantly playing the part of a "bow at their feet" celebrity, wheres the show? Did I come to see what was on stage or what is backstage? Being real off-stage is a far more desirable trait than being the 24-7 celebrity, IMO.

Don't apologize for being yourself, Penn. David Allan Coe may be flashy but you and Teller outshine him with your wit and amazing magic tricks. Siegfried and Roy surround themselves with opulence but without their trappings they're just animal trainers. You and Teller try to help people see through the smoke-screens on "Bullshit" and that is an immeasurable contribution to our society, and a very funny one too. Best wishes to you both!

He did one racist song, "Nigger Fucker" about a woman running off with a black man from the perspective of her angry white spouse. Due to that and the internet with file sharing, many songs by the racist country artist Johnny Rebel have been often attributed to Coe. Ironically, Coe actually has or had at least one black man in his band. Coe's songs "Don't Bite the Dick" and "Fuckin' in the Butt" are some examples of his dirty songs he made in the late 70s, early 80s.

he wrote those dirty records in the 70's with shel silverstein. they were sold exclusively out of the back of motorcycle magazines and were meant to be silly and overly-offensive. 99% of racist country songs on the internet are mislabeled as DAC but they aren't him. it's like how weird al yankovic is misattributed as the writer of pretty much every song parody or novelty song ever.

I heard his name for the first time over a decade ago, and when I saw that Penn did a video talking about him, I remembered the name being associated with someone who made racist music.
