@PennybagDarrell i would say so, especially with flatwound strings (it comes with roundwounds) and when amplified. however, the build quality is relatively poor, so it doesn't hold tuning too well initially, and there are some dead spots on the fretboard. also, it simply feels like shit in my hands. maybe you'll feel differently.
it feels and plays like a cheap budget bass, which it is. but when amped and equalized well, it actually doesn't SOUND too bad.
@PennybagDarrell also, for a bebop, upright sound, those flats work, but if you want something more fusion/jaco-y, the brightness of roundwounds like elixirs would balance out the inherent mellowness of the fretless sound. and....... i personally wouldn't play fusion with an acoustic-electric; i'd go electric. and i'd turn up the bridge pickup, and boost the mids.
this is all from my experience, though. i know what i'm talking about, but a more seasoned bass player (you?) may or may not agree.
Does this bass have an upright sound to it? I'm looking for something to play some classic fusion/bebop with.
