I am involved in procurement from china... I know this is made owned and sold by a Chinese company.. It has nothing to do with Germany it is sent from there to appear that way and to avoid duty ... How do i know ? .. The company that makes it told me while I was in their factory and then gave me one model of each as a sample ... How many samples stood the tests we gave them ...ZERO ..all failed
Have the exact same watch but branded with IWC on the left side and a 7 day power reserve meter over the spring section. Very loud watch, either you like or don't like but it is quite an eye catcher (even better looking than this one). Purchased in Vietnam but they say it's made in Singapore (ha! ha! ha!) Runs perfectly and keeps time with high level of precision (only 2 minutes fast per day). Highly recommended.
For sure, made in China. Still a nice watch though. The movement is visually recognizable as a Chinese skeletonized version of the Unitas 6497. This is a fairly common practice: buy Chinese parts, assemble them in another country, and market the product as "German made."
Thanks...although the reply by bourgeoislj seems pretty believeble , maybe akribos is also another brand that sold their name...who knows...anyway, i like it a lot!
I have one of these watches. Same exact thing but mine says "Forrestier & Cie" Since 1924. If you look on ebay, you will see some say the same or MZI Co. since 1920 (same part number). I have even seen one that said made in China on Ebay. What happened is that German doesn't have a QA over things marketed as "Made in Germany". The old watch maker thats sold their name rights are offerning all these watches now after years of no watches. Scam.
The one I bought needed to be repaired. I sent it back and they repaired it. Unfortunately they left a fingerprint on the inside of the glass. I would still recommend buying one since I like the look of it. It is very eloquent and dressy. Quite an eye-catcher when attending a formal event dressed in a tuxedo.
Turn off the fkng sound in background...
