  • In Marching Band, a band size is measured not by how many people they have, but by how many Sousaphones they have, for they are more noticable.

  • lol cool

  • this is a great example of tubas at their best. I just can't figure out who plays the melody here. Too many tubas we have like 5 and you guys have 20. The sound we get is like nothing compared to these guys.

  • @cstahl24 i was watching closely, the 5th person from the right is the only person who's hand can be seen moving quickly to different places, i think it may be that person ^-^

  • people who dislike this should b impaled

  • Wow that's a lot of tubas we only have one in my band

  • skinny legs here can conduct.

  • The amount of tubas here is roughly the same size as all the brass players in my band times two.

  • alavergaaa

  • They sound okay but im familiar with a slower more in-depth version that brings out the chords.

  • omg! my eyes are like O.O

  • dey sound good and all but can dey play it wit out lookin at da music dat would make dem a better section

  • @kriptihigh how does not looking at music make you a better section, exactly?

  • @TrumpetMan1996 dats just da way i learned how to play with out da music

  • I like it, wow! for me, this instrument has a big personality. Please people, search for "Glissando Ensemble" and tell me what you think, thanks

  • he doesnt have any shoes on..

  • its like Dragon Ball's tension moment song

  • Great ideas, fresh sound but you guys really need to work on the tone and sound quality... too many of you are playing way too loud and losing tone.

  • I spy a girl player..

  • @SheWhoPlaysBaritone0 second one in from the outside left

  • I wish we had more base players out our school im the only one that plays tuba and sousaphone when we play for a concert i play the baritone.

  • This Sound Like Fast Version Of Slow And Easy , (A Fanfare We Play.)

  • Actual there are several different types of tuba. Sousaphones are the ones blowing their brains out above. "Contras" (contrabass Tuba) is the marching sholder tuba that Can be a conveted to a Concert tuba. a marching tuba is most commonly assosiated with a Bell frount Concert horn Used befor Sousaphones and Contras were Created. Basicly there are alot of tubas used for many Different reasons, Such as the Lusophone.

  • The background kinda looks like a green screen if u pause

  • @MrIplaythetrumpet its our band field

  • I should play this for my school

  • the director doesnt have any shoes on

  • @Mattsblog49 so tru

  • Love it!

  • Just so everyone knows, what they are playing are sousaphones, the kind of tuba that you have over your shoulder is called a contra.

  • this is impressive but I just they had darker tone :( it's sounds like bari sax

  • Frekkin Awesome!

  • Does anyone else think this sounds like some type of rhythmic chain saw?? (btw i love tubas, i play bass bone myself)

  • I see the show band style is spreading. The is a super old Tuba fanfare. I guess new to these guys.

  • no, a marching tuba is big and all on you shoulder

  • Muito dahora

  • Sounds like theres a bari sax hiding behind one of those sousa's lol

  • @chrism4n14 well they are meant to play the same songs . They could if wanted to play this

  • will it blend?

  • LOW CARA

  • Well yes a Sousaphone is a marching tuba, but they do have bazooka tubas.

  • Blat blat blat blat blat... Blat blat blat blat blat blat blat... Blat blat blat BLAAAAAAT.

  • @Earphonesan hahahaha i totally burst out laughing when i read that

  • who needs that many sousaphones? xD

  • @GamingSol Who DOESN'T need that many Sousaphones?!

  • @Breazeale93 anybody

  • @GamingSol Everyone needs ATLEAST that many.

  • Hey when I was in high school we made that up almost 20 years ago. It's called nice & slow & it was a smooth & speedy y'all sound good. Could show you some missing parts.

    Marching 100.

  • right when I clicked on the video, my eyes went from -.- to O.O.

  • This was awesome sounding I absolutely love brass[!] high or low. (maybe because I'm a trombone player...;)) ;)♥

  • wow

  • Ah depending on what it is I love splatisimo

  • u guys do awesome

  • what makes a tuba a tuba is the length of tubing ond the conical bore a sousaphone has both and a larger more directional bell, it is a tuba designed to be easier to march with. And for you tuba purists, you can get as much dynamic contrast out of a sousaphone as you can with a tuba. and a mellophone is a simplified conical bored horn in the key of F, they don't sound as good because they are not played as well. I JUST ENDED THE ARGUMENT SO SHADDUP AND SHAG-OFF!

  • @trumpeteronthefoof A mellophone is nothing like a horn. A mello has less than half the tubing, different bore, less conical, piston valves, different mouthpiece, etc. In playing the two, the differences are apparent, but it's a necessary evil to fill the alto brass voice.

  • What's the original song?

  • OH CRAP!! AN ARMY OF SOUSAPHONES!!! RUN FOR YOU LIFE!!!!!!

  • Sousaphones are the same as a tuba. Jesus get the fuck over it already.

  • they are really good^^

  • Woah... that's a lotta sousaphones...

  • This is a fanfair that HBCU sousaphone sections have been playing for years we just didn't call it transformers..b

  • I wanna stand in the middle

  • actually, contra bass tubas are marching tubas too. just saying.

  • Do you happen to have sheet music that you could send me?

  • Is this the movie theme or the 80's theme... Sounds like a little of both to me

  • damn, only one girl?

  • @goldenlover606 there are 2 girls

  • can i get the music pls pls psl ! email me at: xxjoker2014xx@yahoo.com

  • KICK BRASS!

  • sounds like farts LOL

  • That's alot of Tubas ;)

  • @rockerkiddevin come down to allen texas and come see me and my 28 strong tuba section in my 700+ marching band ;)

  • @turntheoven269 Sounds like a hell of a time ;) lol

  • @turntheoven269 700! wtf! mines like 100 lol

  • shoeless?

  • All sousaphones are tubas but not all tubas are sousaphones :O bam

  • All those tubas :O

  • I march a Yamaha contra<3

there are like 12 different types of tuba

    only one sousaphone though.

but contras all of the way.. and yes I am a girl tuba player:D

  • @PThomas7414 rad! a girl tuba player! just sayin

  • sgtm1775 your a dumbass think before you speak im a marching tuba we use the good old sousaphone or bazooka tuba in set unison and if the band cant hear the tuba or bass player your band must suck ass

  • @dudemetal23 Your/You're. Learn the difference before calling someone else a dumbass.

  • IS THAT A GIRL TUBA??!!?!??! WOOOHHOOO Represent

ps We are Tubas it's what we Do-ba :P

  • Haha I can hear them breathing in unison!

  • where can i get transformers

  • not bad but they are splating every note

  • So many .. Sousas ... I wish we had so many :D

  • an owl is a bird...a sousaphone is a tuba.

  • @thermostat98 A sousaphone is a unique instrument that only fills the same role as a tuba on the marching field. Saying a sousaphone is a tuba is like saying a mellophone is a f horn.

  • @thermostat98 20-j's are tubas of steel crafted by heaven

  • THATS ALOT OF TUBAS!!!

  • 8 people play trumpet

  • 19 tubas! = beast

  • I HAVE TO ADMITE TUBAS ARE AWESOME AND I PLAY THE BARI SAX

  • @390070730 I play bari sax, its an easy switch to tuba. I did it because two of our three tubas were seniors. You should try it, it's a lot of fun. Besides bari is a pain to march.

  • my school has band and i play tuba

  • tuba/sousaphone pride ;D... and for the whole tuba sousa arguement that seems to be on every video who gives a damn they're both in the same key/range/and play the same, a sousa is a marching tuba, many band directors in middle and high school bands refer to sousas as tubas who cares if people call them sousaphones or tuba's there still both epic ;D

  • Now THAT is a tuba section!!!

  • I play the Euphonium i do agree nobody kows what it is and it makes me mad

  • @ipwnu5742 I KNOW WHAT A EUPHONIUM IS!!!! But then again I'm a huge DCI fan soooo.....

  • @sk8dood98 and I'd gladly follow

  • sousaphones are awesome~~!

  • We play it a lot

Different, like we got a lot of fills in it and got trombones on it too ( everyone gets a solo)

  • Those aren't tubas. They're sousaphones. Splatissimo is neither an actual dynamic, nor an acceptable goal for intonation, but many people are still trying to make both happen.

  • @sgtm1775 a sousaphone is a tuba though.

  • @sgtm1775 Lol a sousaphone is the exact same thing as a tube the only difference is its classified as a MARCHING instrument while the instrument we know as a tube is classified as a CONCERT instrument. I play Trombone Tuba Baritone(Euphonium) Trumpet and Percussion. I know what im talking about :)

  • @sgtm1775 they are tubas....

  • @sgtm1775 A sousaphone is a marching tuba. It was invented by a man called John Philip Sousa. Learn some history, you might just need it some day.

  • @elvisfan4646 I know all about Sousa, and his music, and the history. I've even marched a sousaphone. However, having played a convertible concert tuba and a G Contra Bass bugle when I auditioned for the Bluecoats.. (made it, but didn't have the funds to march what would have been the 1993 season), I much prefer the latter.

  • @sgtm1775 Im impressed.

  • @sgtm1775 its college, its about being loud and having fun, if you want to listen to lyrical then listen to concert band.

  • @sgtm1775 Sousaphones are just Tubas. They are the "Marching Tuba"

  • @DarkVengeance0938 contras are also marching tubas matter a fact they are a more precise sound over a sousa :D i wana contra sooooo bad... for my school at least XP

  • @DarkVengeance0938 yes but they make somewhat of a different sound and its easier to play louder on a sousaphone

  • @DarkVengeance0938 They aren't THE marching tuba. Gotta give contras some love

  • @DarkVengeance0938 its named after John Phillip SOUSA

  • @DarkVengeance0938 like a baratone and a tuba a tuba is biger and hits low notes!

  • @DarkVengeance0938 Tubas > Sousaphones.

  • @DarkVengeance0938 Sousaphones are a unique instrument from the tuba. They fill the same roles, but sousaphones are wrapped differently, have a different sound (tone quality is the most obvious), and project better.

    Tubas generally sound better though.

Anyway, I think the tubaherd should invest in contras. They definitely have enough people to still put out a lot of sound.

  • @Skratche17 And the sousaphone is also a better marching instrument in my opinion.

  • @DarkVengeance0938

actually, a sousaphone is a sousaphone, a marching tuba is considered a contra, sense it actually represents a true tuba, and they have convertable concert tubas that convert to marching tubas, just a fun fact for ya(:

  • @whatistheretotype i thought a sous was like what they had and a contra was like a full sized tuba but with the bell pointing outward instead of up

  • @DarkVengeance0938 nope they are the sousaphones a marching tuba does not fit around you

  • @jake16math bro no one gives a shit there all tubas just bent in another way. u bend a bendy straw its still a fucking straw so fuck off.

  • @DarkVengeance0938 No, actually, a contra-bass bugle, commonly known as just a Contra, is the marching tuba, sousaphones are a variant of the Helicon invented in the 1920's by John Phillip Sousa.

  • @sgtm1775 i challenge you to do better with this many sousaphones

  • @sgtm1775 thats wat ive been trying to tell people but they say its a tuba

  • @sgtm1775 Splatissimo. I laughed. I laughed hard.d

  • @sgtm1775 It is really difficult not to blat (especially with silvers)

often it happens on accident, it takes a LOT of control to play well and loud

    JHS Tubaline 2011 FOREVER!

  • @sgtm1775 its a form of a tuba idiot

  • @kingjokerful No it's not. It's a sousaphone. I've played sousaphone, tuba, convertible concert tuba for field, and a G contrabass bugle (along with other brass and even woodwinds). The differences are subtle, but differences just the same.

  • i might be playing the sousaphone this week at school. i hope i do

  • sounds a row of people farting into kazooz lol. Im not saying they're bad but just tubas? Come on.

  • your school is fricken rich holy crap!

  • Is that 19 or 20 sousaphones?

  • nice i will be playing the tromebone

  • WTF was that ;D

  • thumbs up if your a tuba player

  • 8 people dont know how to play the tuba

  • im in love XD lmfao
