  • This probably sounds stupid, but have you ever tried using fishing line for strings? Just thinking out loud...

  • I was gonna buy one...but...I think I may make one...

  • what was the name of the first song you played?...

  • @stefant114 It was the first part of "Aint She Sweet? " (a ukulele classic) closely followed by a bit of "Has Anybody Seen My Gal?"

  • I love your ukuleles! They are and soud really great! I'd like to build one by myself. I already have the cigar box. I'm trying to find a ukulele neck now. Did you just cut the neck off the uke and stick it to your cigar box or what did you do?

    Thanks for you help!

  • thiss is pretty kickass :) thats great! im jealouss nice accent btw

  • does an ape deliver your ukes? cuz transit is pretty bad

  • This is great! You should get together with one of the cardboard bassists & make a band!

  • let me guess, was the beginning song that you played "aint she sweet" ? tell me if im wrong

  • how often do the necks break?

  • @FattyTheDragon they don't break . I glue them on with gorilla glue that will hold a tank together. Or lately I bolt them on.

  • As you said yourself, your cigar box ukes have a sound almost like a banjolele. BUT not all the cigar box ukes i've seen online have that sound. I'm currently building one myself, and I was wondering if there was anything specific you can suggest that i could do to give it that sound

  • @FreakFaceProductions it's hard to predict the sound of a cigar box. That's half the fun

  • Hi mate,

Big fan here of GUGUG, paticularly your duets with melodica etc. You guys seem to have so much fun recording too, makes me smile!

Anyway, would appreciate it if you could let me know what these 3 catchy songs you are playing in this vid are, so i can try learning them myself. They sound familiar anywhere. I know one of them is raindrops keep falling.

    Have fun!

  • what is the song that is played after "Ain't she sweet" at 1:16 ?

  • i want one.

  • I have an unhealthy Ukulele addiction...no wait i mixed that up with me cigars!

  • That second one seemed to have the fullest sound. Real good strummin"

  • is it possible for yout to show me how to attach the neck to the box with a video? next time you build another one or something? a video series showing exactly how to build one of these would be great.

  • hey what chords were you playin i just got a banjoele and wanted to try it out! thanks!

  • you should sell me one.

  • you should sell me one.

  • how do you make the neck?

  • ok so im making a ukulele right now and i want to make as easy as possiable so should i buy an old neak or make it p.s. ur the bomb diggity

as one of those. Great stuff

  • Partagas is a fine cigar.

    Nice work.

  • Did you smoke all those cigars yourself, Gus?

  • I know he smokes rolling tobacco, so I wouldn't be surprised if he was a cigar man too!

  • Cool as usual - well done!

  • Was the first song Ain't She Sweet?

    Thanks for sharing, Gus.

In another video, can you show us a close up of how the neck is connected to the cigar box with tips you've learned?

    Doug

    San Francisco, California USA

  • People just don't know how to ship ukes.

  • Good fun!

  • Most excellent !

  • You're my cigar hero! ...When I was little I had this music box which played raindrops are fallin every night I went to sleep. You just made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I wish I could whistle like that!

  • Pretty clever!

  • whats the name of the song at 2:32 ??

  • Raindrops keep fallin' (on my head)

  • This is very cool

  • i love them!!! i need to do a review on my sonny daze one i got a few months back! thanks for the video!

  • Three cool ukes ;)

  • Are you allowed to play these in public places?

  • Of course!

  • They have special areas cordonned-off outdoors where you can play them

  • My pref is the Montecristo-Macaferri, although the one with the original GUGUG neck is a close second for cool luthiery. COVEYWOOD on YouTube made one from an olive oil can he called the tinkerlele. Russbuss made one from a kit he called the Oopsulele--which looked like an uke Picasso put together.

  • Really excellent demo, Gus. I may try one myself.

  • too cool. Partagas, Punch, Romeo y Julieta....all my favorites!

  • thats pretty bomb

  • So cool! I'll be getting my own soon from Sonny Daze!

  • haha thats too cool

  • you're handy with Cigar boxes ain't ya? XD try making a Banjolele out of a tin lol

Do a full version of Raindrops too
